This is already the sixth corporate <strong>responsibility</strong> <strong>report</strong><br />
issued by <strong>PKN</strong> ORLEN. Since 2007, the Company issues<br />
its <strong>report</strong>s annually. As in the previous year, this <strong>report</strong> was<br />
prepared in accordance with GRI G3 B-level guidelines.<br />
This level tells the reader how advanced the Company<br />
is in terms of the number of indicators and the possibilities<br />
of further expansion of <strong>report</strong>ing in the following years.<br />
It also corresponds to the level of incorporation of GRI G3<br />
Guidelines and GRI Reporting framework. More information<br />
on application levels and GRI G3 Guidelines are available<br />

In 2008 we conducted the consultation process as a result<br />
of which we defined the map of stakeholders. We also<br />
identified the aspects of the Company’s activities significant<br />
from the perspective of the stakeholders. This information<br />
is presented on our website www.orlen.pl. As in previous<br />
years, our stakeholders actively participate in the process<br />
of development of corporate <strong>responsibility</strong> <strong>report</strong>s.<br />
This is reflected for example in the involvement of employees<br />
and statements of visitors representing various groups<br />
of stakeholders.<br />
This Report presents the most important events in <strong>PKN</strong> ORLEN<br />
in 2009. We also provide selected information on the Capital<br />
Group, although the <strong>report</strong> relates only to the Company.<br />
The Report for 2009 shows the adjusted sales revenue for<br />
2008 due to changes in comparable data in this item.<br />
Data on LPG for 2008 were also adjusted.<br />
ORLEN is a national, modern and professional <strong>brand</strong> that<br />
offers innovative products and services on a world-class<br />
level, serving people in their everyday life, in accordance<br />
with the Company motto “Always there when you need us.”<br />
The <strong>brand</strong> has existed since 2000. The name and logo<br />
of the Company, as verbal and verbal-graphic trademarks,<br />
were filed for protection with the Patent Office of the Republic<br />
of Poland and received relevant protection certificates<br />
in accor dance with the Polish and international law.<br />
The <strong>brand</strong> mark is currently protected on the European<br />
Union market and in the selected group of countries all<br />
over the world. Protection extends also over various versions<br />
of the corporate logo, the image of the ORLEN <strong>brand</strong> fuel<br />
station, names and logos of products and services owned<br />
by <strong>PKN</strong> ORLEN. In 2009 patent protection covered over<br />
20 trademarks related to the corporate <strong>brand</strong>, 20 advertising<br />
slogans created for the Company and over 130 trademarks<br />
of products and services.<br />
Responsibility for protection of <strong>PKN</strong> ORLEN trademarks<br />
rests with patent agents and the Marketing Office services.<br />
The agents monitor the applications database of the Patent<br />
Office of the Republic of Poland in order to prevent violations<br />
of the Company’s rights. <strong>Corporate</strong> Identity Department<br />
monitors the media with the aim to identify illegal uses<br />

The Report as a whole was not verified by an external<br />
auditor.<br />

The <strong>PKN</strong> ORLEN 2008 corporate <strong>responsibility</strong> <strong>report</strong><br />
is known e.g. in India. It was from this country that<br />
we received not only words of appreciation, but also<br />
a wish to provide its “paper” version.<br />
