Exceptional Student Education Individual Education Plan All students enrolled in Exceptional Student Education Programs must have an Individual Education Plan (IEP). This is a written statement of the student’s present level of performance and the educational objectives for the school year. Students with disabilities with a current Individual Education Plan (IEP), who participate in FCAT, may be provided accommodations in the classroom as well as on the FCAT. The accommodations allowable on the FCAT should be accommodations the student has used regularly in the classroom, and are appropriate for the child’s educational need. Not all allowable accommodations in the classroom are permissible to be used on the FCAT. See your child’s Exceptional Student Education Teacher for more information. The mission of the Exceptional Student Education Department is to ensure each exceptional student the most appropriate educational setting in the least restrictive environment. All special needs will be met through an individualized program ensuring self-esteem and functional independence resulting in the attainment of each student’s fullest potential to become a self-supporting adult. Preschool Educational Evaluation Program (PEEP) The Preschool Educational Evaluation Program for Exceptional Student Education provides screening and evaluation for preschool children with unidentified special needs, developmental delays, or other handicapping conditions. Parents, guardians, or any community agency may refer children two and one-half years of age, not already enrolled in Osceola County School District’s Voluntary Prekindergarten or Kindergarten. Referrals can be made by contacting the PEEP office at 407-891-1178. Helping Every Student Succeed! 22
