A R O U N D T O W N<br />
A Real Christmas Tradition<br />
On December 11 students from<br />
<strong>St</strong>. <strong>James</strong> Elementary, Dogwood<br />
Elementary and Nesaquake Middle<br />
School, ranging in ages from<br />
7-13 raised $500 Christmas caroling<br />
on Deepwells Lane. This has<br />
been a tradition since 2004 and<br />
the residents of Deepwells Lane<br />
have embraced the true meaning<br />
of Christmas by graciously donating<br />
to our community every year.<br />
Over the years donations have<br />
been made to the local volunteer<br />
fire department and to nursing<br />
home residents. This year a donation<br />
was made to the Smithtown<br />
Children's Foundation.<br />
Led by Danielle, Jessie and<br />
Brooke Flugman the children sent<br />
out flyers to the residents of Deepwells<br />
Lane alerting them to their<br />
arrival on the 11th. For two hours<br />
the children sang Christmas carols<br />
and handed out candy canes to<br />
neighborhood children and collected<br />
for a wonderful cause. They<br />
finished with hot chocolate and<br />
Christmas cookies and stepped<br />
away with pride knowing what<br />
they had done for others who are<br />
not so fortunate in our community.<br />
