Winners of BESFI’s Scholarship Competition
The Ballet Education and Scholarship
Fund, inc. (BESFi), located
at 7 Flowerfield Park - Suite 16 in
St. James, has announced the top
winners of its annual scholarship
competition held June 3, 2012 in
conjunction with the BESFi intensive
Summer Workshop. The competition
was judged by a panel of
five distinguished adjudicators.
Winner of the $1,000 top prize
with the highest score in either division
was Senior division champion
anna Craddock of Stony
Brook. She edged out newcomer
Max Gershfield who captured
2nd place honors and $800. Top
honors in the Junior division of
$900 went to danielle lovetro of
St. James. She was followed by
Marianna Spentzos ($750), 2nd
place of Port Jefferson, alexndra
Berlingieri ($600), 3rd place of
Stony Brook and lauren Kerr
($550), 4th place of Port Jefferson
Station. a total of 11 scholarships
were awarded.
Celebrating its 33rd anniversary,
the BESFi intensive Summer
Workshop is a six-week classical
dance program held annually during
the last two weeks of July and
four weeks in august. The three
division program features advanced,
advanced/intermediate
and intermediate levels. daily
classes are given by renowned instructors
drawn from major ballet
companies such as american Ballet
Theatre, the Greek National
Opera Ballet and Ballet West.

artistic director of BESFi, “BESFi
provides a wide range of choices
for dance students particularly
those ages 8-11. The intermediate
Program is available in both two
and three classes/day formats.
Program attendance can be tailored
from one to six weeks in duration
with classes taken daily or
on alternating days. The BESFi intensive

environment.”
