Panasonic P2 HD Equipment Captures the Passion of the
Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the First HD Olympics Ever
AMSTERDAM — 12th September 2008 — All the sports action at the Beijing 2008 Olympics
Panasonic, including its popular solid-state P2 HD series, DVCPRO VTRs, systems cameras,
Beijing 2008 was the first time in history that the Olympic international broadcast signal was
equipment, Panasonic provided the largest supply of digital electronics, including professional
broadcast equipment, ASTROVISION large-screen display systems, RAMSA series professional
Working with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Beijing Organizing Committee for
(BOB), Panasonic provided more than 100 camcorders, including solid-state P2 HD AJ-
HPX3000 and AJ-HPX2000 models; 250 recorders, including the P2 HD AJ-HPM110 P2 Mobile;
and approximately 1,500 production monitors. The equipment was utilized by the International
Broadcasting Center (IBC) and other broadcasters as the official broadcasting equipment for
Beijing 2008.
Panasonic’s ASTROVISION screens were used in conjunction with its RAMSA audio equipment
in the opening and closing ceremonies held at the National Athletics Stadium, commonly known
as the Bird’s Nest, delivering the highest quality video and sound to every corner of the stadium.
