New repair and

maintenance service packages

Since the start of this year, Scania

customers in Germany have been

able to enjoy an extended range of

services from the manufacturer. The

new repair and maintenance agreements

(R&W agreements for short) are available

as three different service packages with

different offerings and usage regions. R&W

Basic, R&M Komplett and R&M Sorglos can

be chosen for Germany, Western Europe and the

whole of Europe, guaranteeing the best service

and a mobility guarantee, as well as cost security,

for customers. The new R&W agreements are based

on a modular system. As required, the customer can

choose from three different service packages and in

addition tailor the services towards the operational

10 years of „Plus 24“

This year, the Scania emergency call headquarters

in Koblenz is celebrating the ten-year anniversary

of Scania Assistance Central Europe. On 1 January

1996, a team of six employees started work in the

“Plus 24” emergency service organisation.

Today – a decade later – the “team” has

grown to 20 employees. The mechanics

or vehicle experts of the emergency

centre professionally support all Scania

customers on the phone number

per day in the event of a truck or

trailer breakdown. To start with,

assistance was only given to

German customers. The clientele

has now been extended

to include Austria, Switzerland

and Poland too.

SAXAS Nutzfahrzeuge Werdau AG has established a

safe position on the commercial vehicle market with

the “toll-free with total weight of 11.99 t” campaign.

Since the “transport logistic” trade fair in Munich

last year, at which SAXAS presented its “toll-free”

product line, interest of transportation companies

has not stopped to date. The excellent net weight/

load capacity ratio of the presented truck-trailer

unit is very persuasive. SAXAS’ “small freight forwarding

truck” has a load capacity of more than 6 t,

with a platform structure in the 7.49 t total weight

A decade ago, the starting shot was

was launched, followed by the Vito in

November that year. The Vito was the

Award of the 2005 quality prize

at the Duisburg und Freising Mail branches

The quality prize was awarded to

transportation companies at the

Duisburg Mail branch for the 4th

time on 19 January 2006. In 2005, the

winners were Spedition KARA from

Duisburg (up to 3.5 t) and Schneider

Transport from Essen (over 3.5 t).

Contenders for the prize, which is

awarded each year, have to offer topquality

freight-forwarding services

in terms of reliability, punctuality,

appearance of the vehicles and customer-oriented

conduct, as well as

skilled employees.

To ensure that all contracting parties

profit from this event in a win-win

situation, the new quality offensive

regarding transportation companies

has previously been explained to our

partners by the MAIL division and

the benefits of WILLIS insurance have

been explained by Partner-Store. The

event was rounded off with a presentation

of vehicles from the Mercedes-

Benz branch in Duisburg, followed by

a discussion round.

On 18 February 2006, all service

providers were invited to the presentation

of the “Best transportation

company 2005” quality prize at the

Freising mail centre. During a corporate

event, Ms Arlott, the department

head in charge at Freising, handed

out fantastic prizes and awards. In

addition, all winning transportation

companies were given an additional

new “Sprinter”, and Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge launched a worthy successor to the LT, called

“Crafter”.

A wide range of models, exemplary

series equipment and many individual

Nutzfahrzeuge. As different as the

vans may be, they have one thing in

common – both are absolute pioneers

The Sprinter – diverse,

The new Sprinter, according to Mercedes-Benz,

is setting benchmarks.

We’re in for a surprise: the bodywork

and engine types are tailored to all

requirements. The new model from

Mercedes-Benz has three wheelbase

heights and numerous body types.

With total weights of 3 t and 5 t, it

The third generation of LT from

Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge promises

power on four wheels. High performance,

extremely efficient engines

and an impressive design are the outstanding

features of the Crafter.

The customer can choose the standard

6-gear transmission, as well as the particularly

cost-effective Shiftmatic. The

Crafter’s chassis is trend-setting in the

3 t plus weight class. A generously

proportioned brake system ensures

safety no matter how the vehicle is

loaded. Optimised wheel suspension

guarantees high cornering stability.

In order to guarantee safe transportation,

the Crafter is equipped with

ESP and ABS as standard. The ergonomically

P-S interview with managing director Sabine Tröger

Partner-Store: Ms Tröger, you

mainly serve large parcel service

providers. What particular characteristics

does that involve?

Sabine Tröger: When you’re transporting

goods for important senders

and parcel services, reliability and

compliance with deadlines are expected

above all. Most journeys take place

at night, and everything has to run

smoothly then too. All processes have

to focus on this. That means the fleet

always has to be in perfect working

order technically speaking, and you

need modern means of communication

and logistics in the background

which work perfectly at all times, particularly

at night, and take effect in the

event of breakdowns. This is the only

way in which we can offer the quality

expected by customers.

Partner-Store: In this context, what do

Sabine Tröger: Of course it helps us

enormously in management tasks.

also offers a breakdown service. How

important is an international breakdown

service for you?

Sabine Tröger: Our vehicles are mainly

on the move at night, i.e. when most

tyre dealers and workshops are closed.

So we need a reliable breakdown service

which can be reached 24/7 and

can provide help quickly even at

night. In most cases, the driver is the

only point of contact, so the process

must be designed so that he/she can

gain an overview of the entire proceedings

and control them.

Partner-Store: How important is the

online request facility of Roadside Assistance

Solutions in this regard?

Sabine Tröger: Our orders do not

allow major delays. If a vehicle has

broken down, not only do we need

to get it going again as quickly as

possible, but we also have to be able

to tell the customer exactly when he/

she can expect the delivery to arrive.

Online services are very helpful

in this regard. They ensure we always

know how things stand and can give

the customer reliable information.

The additional information on traffic

jams and the latest traffic situation is

a useful plus.

Winderl bought

the first MAN in P-S

The transportation company Winderl from Neunburg vorm Wald

was one of the first companies to discover Deutsche Post’s Partner-Store

and its benefits.

Michael Winderl bought the first

MAN via Partner-Store. “Internationale

Verkehre Michael Winderl”,

founded in 1981, now has its own

fleet of 7 vehicles

and works with 20

local and long-distance traffic. In the
