Summer 2009 Newsletter - Peninsula Credit

Summer, 2009 Priorities President’s Steve Gorseth, Message President/CEO Peninsula Credit Union... good vintage, excellent choice. My wife and I recently spent a few days in the Oregon Wine Country relaxing and visiting local wineries and vineyards. The weather was great, the food wonderful, and the variety of wines was amazing. Now, I am not a wine expert but I do appreciate Inside Vista Checking Top Auto Dealerships Money Trouble? eStatement Offer Worse than Bed Head 2009 Scholarship Winners Board Membership the care, process and hard work that goes into creating a product that most often is just enjoyed for what it is without a lot of time being spent analyzing why you like it. Strangely, this reminded me of Credit Unions. (This probably means I need even more vacations). There are thousands of wines created from hundreds of varieties of grapes. These grapes are influenced by soil, temperature, moisture, latitude, weather, harvesting time, and literally hundreds of subtle flavors that can come from the surrounding area. Even the region where an oak tree grew to be cut for a barrel influences the outcome of a wine. Financial institutions are like that; they vary by region and are influenced by hundreds of different things like size, ownership, management style, ingredients (products), and how much care and work is put into what they produce. The fact is, all wineries are not the same. And all financial institutions are not the same either. Think of banking as wine making. Peninsula Credit Union is not the largest or the smallest. We don’t mass produce for millions of consumers something that looks like the real thing, but somehow just isn’t special. We make our product only for you, the owner of the vineyard, and we want the experience to be special and our winery to be successful. We take care in the entire process. We don’t try to make every type of wine. We care more about what we can provide rather than profit; we know what we do well, what works in our market area, and when to add another product. We blend the best of old and new concepts, provide economic support to our local communities, and bring to market an experience that you should not have to analyze or hassle with, but just appreciate as it makes your life easier. If you do enjoy and appreciate us, please tell your family, friends and neighbors. We would love to serve them as well. We promise not to stomp on your loan papers in bare feet and don’t worry, the coffee in our lobbies is of a recent vintage. I enjoy hearing from you about most anything... even if it is to just say “Steve, put a cork in it”. To contact me online please write to: membercomments@pcfcu.org.
