Along with “honor” and “glory”,<br />
there exist many other words<br />
for such concepts which are not<br />
necessarily understood in the same<br />
way across all cultures. And yet<br />
people continue to define their<br />
lives according to such principles.<br />
So many people organize their<br />
existence around –or limit their<br />
lives in accordance with- words<br />
which when all is said and done are<br />
just that; words.<br />
Is there any point in living for honor<br />
and glory? Are such concepts<br />
worth dying for?<br />
History has recorded how so<br />
many have died for such beliefs<br />
without the merest shadow of a<br />
doubt in their hearts, proudly and<br />
willingly, swords in hand, fighting<br />
in lost causes merely to achieve<br />
immortality through their own<br />
personal sacrifice, continuing the<br />
struggle when at the final hour<br />
there is nothing more to be won<br />
beyond honor and glory.<br />
<strong>The</strong> content of this edition is<br />
inspired by such reflections and<br />
adorned with designs filled with<br />
meaning, produced by artists from<br />
all over the world. And just like in all<br />
our previous editions, this offering<br />
is defined by the very highest<br />
standards of audiovisual content:<br />
music, animation, photography,<br />
models and reflections on the<br />
world in which we live.<br />

“People in this day and age spend money on<br />
various things they don’t need in the first<br />
place. One of the biggest reasons being they<br />
don’t want to be excluded from the society<br />
as humans are social creatures. Companies<br />
are playing to this fear, compelling people to<br />
consume needlessly and buy their products.<br />
This can be compared to the “Emperor’s<br />
New Clothes” tale, companies replacing<br />
the conmen and the people replacing the<br />
emperor, in this situation. Using this metaphor<br />
as the base, I will build my art piece as a<br />
different and beautiful dressing but lacks the<br />
elements of traditional clothing. As this art<br />
piece can’t be categorized as a “dress” and<br />
requires more sculpting then tailoring, I will<br />
label it as “wearable sculpture”. I will use a<br />
person, a victim to consumerism, to present<br />
the piece. Although materials are quite basic,<br />
namely, branches and strings, it will look<br />
very luxurious and prestigious. Piece will be<br />
vaguely in shape of a spider web, representing<br />
the trap of consumerism, the performance artist<br />
who will wear the dress will also portray the<br />
prey to the trap that is fashion”.<br />
