Associate Professor in Tourism at the Faculty of Tourism and
Hotel Management/Helwan University and Pharos University.

Faculty and Academic Activities:
I) Lecturing and teaching:
-Delivering guest lecturers in courses of eco-tourism,
Sustainable Tourism Development and International Issues in
Tourism at the Department of Human Dimension of Natural
Resources/Warner College at Colorado State University for the
Academic Year 2008/2009. The applicant also acted as an
examiner and evaluator of the student projects and presentations
for the semester of “Fall 2008”.
-Teaching the undergraduate course of Business
Correspondence in English to the students of the English
section at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management/
Helwan University in Cairo during the Academic Year of
2007/2008.
- Lecturing (in both English or/and Arabic language) courses of
tourism development, tourism marketing, tourism planning,
sustainable tourism, eco-tourism, tourism advertising and
publicity, tourism market research and tourism economics in
postgraduate as well as undergraduate programs at the
following academic institutes:

- Since 1999, the applicant has been involved in
supervising many Ph.D. and Master Theses conducted
by researchers majoring tourism and hospitality or one
of the relevant disciplines. Such theses were registered
at and the degrees have been awarded by different
academic institutions such as:
- The Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management at
Helwan University.
- Regional IT Institute for MBA (Master of Business
Administration) Program offered by Moastricht School
of management RITI/MSM Cairo Outreach Program.
- The Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management at

Menya University.
- The Faculty of Pedagogic at Mansoura University.
- The Post-graduate Institute for Environmental Studies at
Ain Shams University.
Other professional expertise:
- Delivering and leading workshops addressing issues of
“eco-tour interpretation” as well as “sustainability and
management of heritage sites (both cultural and natural
environmental heritage” in one-week crash programs
offered by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism to
Egyptian tourist guides applying to renew their licenses
– this program is compulsory for license renewal.
- Acting as a trainer and expert in a number of workshops
and training sessions, conducted by PMEC training
center in Cairo (Professional Management Expertise
Center) to develop/upgrade personal skills
(communication, presentation, time management and
stress management skills) of different groups of
Egyptian university graduates. The project was
sponsored by the Egyptian Ministry of Communication
and Information Technology to build up capacities of
skilled young university graduates.
- Contributing as an expert in the annual survey
conducted by the American National Geographic
Society on sustainable tourism destinations.
- Acting as a referee of a number of papers to be
published in International Tourism Journals.
- Publishing a great number of papers in international as
well as Egyptian academic journals.
- Contributing with presentations in a number of
international as well as Egyptian conferences, seminars
and workshops.
- Having a link and an access to a number of international
tourism educational and research institutes all over the
world (in Europe, USA, Australia and Middle East).

- Participating with academic and lecturing activities in a
number of training courses, seminars and symposiums
organized by governmental, semi-governmental and
private tourism organizations in Egypt such as the
Ministry of Tourism, Egyptian Authority for Promoting
Tourism and the Egyptian Tourism Federation.
- A member of two distinguished tourism associations in
Egypt; the Egyptian Association of Tourism and the
Association of Tourism Experts since 1996.

Face of Globalization: the Case of Egypt". Presented in
a conference on "relational integrated tourism",
Palermo/Italy 14-16 February 2007. The paper will be
published in the conference proceeding book which will
be out soon.
- "Sustainable Tourism Planning for the Arabic
Archaeological Heritage: the Egyptian Case" a chapter
published in a book entitled “Cultural Heritage and
Sustainable Development in the Arab World” in 2008.

The chapter has been written jointly by Eman Helmy
and Professor Chris Cooper and edited by Professors
Fekri Hassan and Dr. Aloisia de Trafford at Institute of
Archaeology, University College London. The book has
been published by Bibliotheca Alexandrina
Publications. It is the first volume on this topic in the
Arab world.
