The City of <strong>Roanoke</strong> has demonstrated a strong<br />

commitment to mak<strong>in</strong>g our city more livable,<br />

provid<strong>in</strong>g quality services, and creat<strong>in</strong>g an awareness<br />

of <strong>Roanoke</strong> both regionally and nationally. And it’s<br />

pay<strong>in</strong>g off.<br />

In this issue of <strong>Roanoke</strong> Citizen we will look at the<br />

top 10 reasons for the city’s progress. Th<strong>in</strong>gs like the<br />

rejuvenation of downtown, the reuse of contam<strong>in</strong>ated<br />

land for productive economic development, and the<br />

revitalization of the Hurt Park area.<br />

While there is not room <strong>in</strong> this magaz<strong>in</strong>e to recite all<br />

the great th<strong>in</strong>gs happen<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> our city, we’ve tried<br />

to list some that best represent our success as a<br />

progressive city. Of course, the number one reason for our success is you, the citizens.<br />

Without your support and <strong>in</strong>volvement, we could not fulfill the goals and vision of the<br />

city’s leaders.<br />

Our star is ris<strong>in</strong>g, and it’s wonderful to see it happen. I hope you will take time to read<br />

about the ways your city is develop<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>to a more vibrant sett<strong>in</strong>g for life. n<br />
