Financial Report Rock the Earth (RtE) continued to make progress in its fourth year as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization. As a result of the generosity of our increasing base of existing and new members, donors, grantors, musicians, and corporate contributors, we ended the year in a position poised to increase our focus on environmental litigation and the defending of important environmental issues as well as embarking on a significant capacity building campaign. The Colorado River litigation and other environmental issue pursuits will engage significant portions of our resources in the upcoming year. Our commitment to this and other issues has enabled our organization to attract members as reflected in the increase in membership revenue, and corporate and private donors who are interested in contributing toward the mission-focused activities in which the organization engages and will play a vital role in the organization’s continued growth and vitality in the upcoming years. The organization will continue its capacity building goal in the upcoming year by employing a part time Development Director and a Development Assistant to move the organization closer to its financial and fundraising goals, necessary to increase the program and education services that the organization provides. The addition of these paid positions will utilize a fair portion of the organizations resources in the near future. In 2007, RtE raised approximately $125,000 in total income, a 16% increase over the previous year, primarily through increases in membership dues and donations. This is a significant increase in revenue from the previous year, which will enable the organization to focus our efforts on our core mission activities. The organization continues to improve its fundraising efforts through enhanced relationships with musicians and the music industry, green and sustainable businesses and corporate donors, grantors, and special partnerships and events that creatively engage our membership, private donors, and the community in general. The addition of the part time Development Director will also be extremely beneficial in obtaining the organizations fundraising efforts for the coming year. The majority of Rock the Earth’s expenses related to Education and Program Services expenses with a focus on education of the public and of our members on the various environmental issues about which the music industry and our organization feel strongly. In addition, the organization incurred programmatic expenses related to the litigation of environmental issues, most specifically the Colorado River Management Plan. Rock the Earth ended the year with approximately $30,750 in the bank, an increase of 16% from the previous year. The success that Rock the Earth continues to enjoy in its fourth year
