<strong>SensorPulse</strong> ® provides industrial signal conditioners, analog I/O<br />

modules, and power supplies for industrial control, data acquisition,<br />

test and measurement and PLC control systems. Our products provide<br />

high accuracy, robust operating temperature ranges, low drift and cold<br />

junction compensation. The Series MSC & MSP have a convenient terminal<br />

block packaging that is only 12 mm wide. All <strong>SensorPulse</strong> ® products are offered<br />

at low, competitive prices.<br />

The Series MSC & MSP Micro Signal Conditioning Blocks represent state of the<br />

art signal conditioning technology. Models feature two and three way isolation,<br />

programmable inputs and outputs, digital calibration, high accuracy, and high density<br />

terminal block DIN rail packaging. The Series MSC & MSP blocks are configurable via<br />

any PC or HPC (Handheld Personal Computer) Windows ® CE palm tops. A complete<br />

digital design replaces potentiometers with software for calibration via a PC or HPC. All<br />

setup parameters are stored in a non-volatile EEPROM on-board the unit. The<br />

configuration files can be saved for backup and restoration of field settings.<br />

The Series MSC provides analog signal conditioning, isolation, and conversion. MSC<br />

models are available with Thermocouple, RTD, Frequency, Voltage, Current and<br />

Potentiometer inputs with outputs compatible with most common voltage or current loops.<br />

The Series MSP provides analog input or output for PLCs using only one high-speed<br />

digital PLC I/O per block. MSP Models are available for Thermocouple, RTD, Current,<br />

Voltage and Potentiometer inputs as well as voltage and current outputs. The MSP<br />

eliminates the need for an analog card with a Programmable Logic Controller.<br />

The Series 8500 PLC to Analog I/O and the Series 8900 Transmitters compliment many<br />

of the more popular product selections from <strong>SensorPulse</strong> ® . These series of converters and<br />

conditioners were developed and engineered to fit special applications presented by our<br />

customers. Over time, the Series 8500 and Series 8900 have found many more<br />

applications from our creative base.<br />

The Series SP Analog Signal Conditioners and Loop Alarms feature models with<br />

Thermocouple, RTD, Frequency, AC Voltage/Current inputs. These units have universal<br />

power supplies that operate from 85 to 265 volts AC or DC, eliminating the need for<br />

external power supplies. The low power versions operate from 12 to 24 volts AC or<br />

DC for portable or HVAC applications.<br />

The Series SPS Power Supplies offer <strong>SensorPulse</strong> ® customers an array of<br />

power options for use with all of our signal conditioning and I/O products. The<br />

Model SPS-4W is a one-of-a-kind 4 Watt supply in a very small package. The<br />

Series SPS products are capable of powering many other panel devices<br />

and/or control system components.<br />

The <strong>SensorPulse</strong> ® MSC family of products provide the<br />

best value in signal conditioning technology. Analog<br />

input signals are digitally scaled, amplified, linearized<br />

and isolated, all within a 12 mm wide DIN rail terminal<br />

block and are offered at low competitive prices.<br />

THE RIGHT SIGNAL PROCESSING MODULE FOR<br />

THE JOB<br />

<strong>SensorPulse</strong> ® offers six signal types within the MSC<br />

family: Current, Voltage, Thermocouple, RTD,<br />

Frequency, and Potentiometer. Each module can be<br />

ordered in a Current or Voltage output configuration. All<br />

models are engineered to meet high quality and performance<br />

standards with advanced features including: 16-<br />

bit resolution; two- or three-way optical and transformer<br />

isolation (to eliminate the concern of ground loops, common<br />

mode signals and noise); short circuit and reverse<br />

power protection; and a broad operating temperature<br />

range of -40 to 75°C.<br />

COST-EFFECTIVE, COMPACT DIGITAL DESIGN<br />

The entire MSC family of DIN rail-mounted Signal<br />

Conditioners are built on a unique digital design that<br />

minimizes size and cost, and maximizes accuracy and<br />

reliability. The use of surface-mount digital components<br />

reduces operating costs, as well as increases reliability<br />

by reducing power consumption and heat build-up.<br />

FLEXIBLE, USER-FRIENDLY CONFIGURATION<br />

MSC Signal Conditioners can be shipped with the<br />

default input/output calibration or the customer can<br />

specify an application specific calibration for true Plug-<br />

‘n’-Play installation. The optional SignalFlex configuration<br />

software and cable allows the user to re-configure<br />

and re-calibrate MSC units at will. This Windows ® -based<br />

software operates on a PC running the Windows ® 3.1,<br />

Windows ® 95, or Windows ® 98 operating system or on<br />

a Palmtop running Windows ® CE. For further flexibility<br />

and convenience, configuration changes can be made<br />

without removing the unit from the control system.<br />

The MSC-C/C is a DIN rail mount signal conditioner that<br />

provides three-way isolation between the input, output<br />

and power. The unit’s input accepts ONE of FIVE (0 to<br />

20 mA, 0 to 10 mA, 4 to 20 mA, ±10 mA, ±20 mA) current<br />

ranges. Additionally, each input range can be scaled<br />

down to meet specific, signal conditioning needs. The<br />

output provides a 0 to 20 mA or a 4 to 20 mA current<br />

signal that is linear to the unit’s input.<br />

All MSC units are configured and calibrated at the factory<br />

to support the input and output ranges specified by<br />

the customer for plug-n-play applications. The MSC<br />

input and output signal ranges can be reconfigured at<br />

anytime with the <strong>SensorPulse</strong> ® Configuration Package.<br />

The Configuration Package consists of <strong>SensorPulse</strong> ®<br />

Windows ® -based SignalFlex Configuration Utility and<br />

two-way isolation (input to output and output to power).<br />

The unit’s input accepts ONE of FOUR (1 to 100 Hz, 1 to 1 kHz,<br />

1 to 10 kHz, or 1 to 25 kHz) frequency ranges at a magnitude of<br />

up to 250 volts. The magnitude is not field programmable and<br />

must be specified upon ordering. Additionally, each input range<br />

can be scaled down to meet specific, signal conditioning needs.<br />

The output provides a 0 to 20 mA or a 4 to 20 mA current signal<br />

that is linear to the unit’s input.<br />

All MSC units are configured and calibrated at the factory to support<br />

Model MSC-LI<br />

The MSC-LI is a DIN rail mount signal conditioner that provides<br />

two-way isolation (input to output and input to power). The<br />

unit’s input accepts a 4 to 20 mA current range. The output provides<br />

a 0 to 10 V, 0 to 20 mA or a 4 to 20 mA signal that is linear<br />

to the unit’s input.<br />

The MSC-LI has a Digital Enable input that allows the user to<br />

enable or disable the output with an external control signal.<br />

This feature allows the mulitplexing of multiple current-loop<br />

The <strong>SensorPulse</strong> ® MSP family of products have begun<br />

a revolution on how analog signals connect to a<br />

Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). Analog input signals<br />

are digitally scaled, amplified, linearized, isolated,<br />

and converted to a high resolution 24 VDC pulse, all<br />

within a 12 mm wide DIN rail terminal block. Our<br />

patented 16-bit, single-wire, communication protocol,<br />

communicates with any one of the discrete inputs (or<br />

outputs) of a PLC.<br />

THE RIGHT SIGNAL PROCESSING<br />

MODULE FOR THE JOB<br />

<strong>SensorPulse</strong> ® offers five analog input signal types (to a<br />

discrete input of a PLC): Current, Voltage,<br />

Thermocouple, RTD, and Potentiometer. <strong>SensorPulse</strong> ®<br />

also offers two analog output signal types (from a discrete<br />

output of a PLC): Current and Voltage. All models<br />

are engineered to meet high quality and performance<br />

standards with advanced features including: 16-bit resolution;<br />

two-way optical and transformer isolation (to<br />

eliminate the concern of ground loops and noise); short<br />

circuit and reverse power protection; and a broad operating<br />

temperature range of -40 to 75°C.<br />

A NEW BREED OF PLC ANALOG I/O MODULE<br />

The MSP Analog I/O allows PLC users the freedom to<br />

distribute the I/O where the signal is being generated...the<br />

freedom to eliminate the cost of a separate signal<br />

conditioner and other hardware...the freedom to<br />

expand I/O one channel at a time...the freedom to connect<br />

to any ladder logic-based PLC. A small ladder program<br />

loaded into the PLC enables the controller to capture<br />

and process the analog signal.<br />

FLEXIBLE, USER-FRIENDLY CONFIGURATION<br />

MSP analog I/O modules can be shipped with the<br />

default input/output calibration or the customer can<br />

specify an application specific calibration for true Plug<br />

‘n’ Play installation. The optional SignalFlex configuration<br />

software and cable allows the user to re-configure<br />

and re-calibrate MSP units at will. This Windows ® -<br />

based software operates on a PC running the<br />

Windows ® 3.1 , Windows ® 95, or Windows ® 98 operating<br />

system or on a Palmtop running Windows ® CE. For<br />

further flexibility and convenience, configuration<br />

changes can be made without removing the unit from<br />

the control system.<br />

Model 8501 is a two channel converter, 5 V to 24 V.<br />

The two independent channels require 7 mA into 382<br />

ohms to provide a 7 mA output into the 3K, 24 volt typical<br />

PLC logic inputs. They may be driven by standard or<br />

H series TTL logic, or with an open collector NPN transistor.<br />

Note that low power TTL logic will not drive this<br />

unit. The output is a floating optocoupler NPN transistor<br />

which may be connected in either source or sink configuration.<br />

The input frequency range is DC to 15 kHz.<br />

The modules are housed in a plastic case with a built in<br />

The Model 8503 Dual Channel PLC Interface module<br />

is designed to interface 120 Volt AC line to the PLC 24<br />

Volt, 7 mA discrete inputs. The inputs are isolated from<br />

the outputs by an optocoupler and the two channels are<br />

independent. Power is supplied by the input signal and<br />

is a nominal 10 mA per channel. The output transistor<br />

is fully floating allowing either source or sink connection<br />

to the PLC.<br />

The modules are housed in a plastic case with a built in<br />

The Model 8504 Dual Channel PLC Interface module is<br />

designed to interface 24 VDC signals to the PLC 24 Volt, 7 mA<br />

discrete inputs. The inputs are isolated from the outputs by an<br />

optocoupler and the two channels are independent. Power is<br />

supplied by the input signal and is a nominal 10 mA per channel.<br />

The output transistor is fully floating allowing either source or<br />

sink connection to the PLC.<br />

The modules are housed in a plastic case with a built in U-foot for<br />

mounting on standard DIN rails. The case dimensions, excluding<br />

the U-foot are 1.65˝ H x 1.06˝ W x 3.78˝ L. Connections are<br />

made to screw clamp terminals that accept wire sizes 22 to 16.<br />

The Model 8505 Current to Frequency Converter offers a cost<br />

effective solution for a single or multiple channel PLC I/O system.<br />

It is designed to operate into the common 24 volt, 7 mA PLC discrete<br />

counter inputs. the 4 to 20 mA input Model 8505 provides<br />

1 kHz to 5 kHz output frequency for a 4 μA per Hertz resolution.<br />

The output is linear to 0.01% with a very high accuracy of better<br />

than 0.1%. The output is an isolated floating optocoupler transistor<br />

which provides DC isolation from the input and DC power.<br />

Connections are made easily accessible with screw clamp terminal<br />

The Model 8555 Strain Gage to Frequency Converter<br />

offers a cost effective solution for a single or multiple<br />

channel PLC I/O system. It is designed to operate into<br />

the PLC high speed counter inputs. The input range of<br />

0 to 50 mV makes the 8555 compatible with most strain<br />

gage based load cell or pressure transducer outputs.<br />

The built-in 10 V excitation supply is capable of driving<br />

one 350 ohm bridge. The 8555 output for all modules is<br />

linear to 0.01% with a very high accuracy of better than<br />

0.1%. The output is an isolated floating optocoupler<br />

transistor which provides DC isolation from the input<br />

and DC power. Connections are made easily accessible<br />

The Model 8560 uses the signal from a magnetic pickup, which<br />

is being used to monitor engine RPM, and converts that signal<br />

to a frequency to interface with the high speed counter of a<br />

PLC. The 8560 allows the Micro PLC to monitor and regulate<br />

engine speed, engage start/stop functions, provide overspeed<br />

shutdown, etc. The 8560 opens up a whole new spectrum of<br />

applications for Micro Controllers with engine control.<br />

The 8560 accepts an input signal of 30 Hz to 5 kHz. The maximum<br />

RMS input is 130 VAC and the minimum pulse width is<br />

100 microseconds. The input resistance is 100 kohms from 0<br />

to 1 Volt peak to peak and 50 kohms for voltages above 1 Volt.<br />

Extra terminals are provided to add an external load resistor for<br />

those variable reluctance pick ups that require less than 100<br />

kohms. The amplitude of the input signal from 30 Hz to 2 kHz<br />

must be a minimum of 80 mV peak to peak. From 2 kHz to 5<br />

kHz the minimum amplitude is 100 mV peak to peak.<br />

The 8560 output is a floating optocoupler transistor which<br />

allows either source or sink connections to the PLC and isolates<br />

the output from the input and power supply. The output<br />

pulse width is nominally 100 microseconds. The unit incorporates<br />

an automatic gain and arming circuit to greatly reduce<br />

false triggering at high input signal levels that may contain<br />

noise levels much above the minimum signal sensitivity. The<br />

power required is nominally 24 VDC. The DC power input<br />

range is 9 to 30 Volts. Input current is 15 mA. The 8560 is<br />

housed in a DIN Rail mount plastic case measuring 1.65˝ H x<br />

1.06˝ W x 3.78˝ L. The operating temperature range for the<br />

unit is 0 to 55˚C.<br />

The 8915 provides an isolated 4 - 20 mA output. Input is 0 -<br />

100 VDC. The input resistance for the voltage input models is<br />

1 Megohm. The linearity of the 8915 is ±0.02%. Accuracy is<br />

typically ±0.1%. The response time of the Voltage input models<br />

is 10 ms. Ripple and noise full scale is 0.05%. The isolation<br />

voltage is 700 VDC.<br />

All models in the Series 8900 are powered by 24 Volts DC nominal.<br />

The DIN rail mount housing measures 4.33˝ H x 0.895˝<br />

The SP-C448 and SP-CL448 Strain Gauge and Bridge<br />

Isolators / Transmitters allow low cost retransmission of<br />

any Strain Gauge or Bridge circuit. Featuring two fixed and<br />

two variable excitation supplies, they can isolate and<br />

retransmit to a wide variety of external devices with standard<br />

process signals.<br />

The SP-C448 operates on line power (85 to 265 V DC or<br />

Model SP-C1090 Process Loop Signal Alarm/Switch<br />

Modules are on-off or limit switches with selectable<br />

process signal. Input type, scale range, output action, and<br />

output type are all selectable by the user in the field. All<br />

selections are made through easily accessible switches<br />

without the need to open the product. Each unit has two<br />

form C (SPDT) relays which can operate independently,<br />

or be logically connected to operate as a DPDT output. A<br />

two color LED indicator indicates the status of each output<br />

relay.<br />

These units mount easily on a standard 35 mm DIN rail.<br />

Low Voltage (SP-CL1090) units are also available.<br />

These Transmitters/Isolators completely isolate the input<br />

from the output and from ground. Compatible with industry<br />

standard 35 mm DIN Rail mount transmitters and isolators,<br />

these modules are easily applied in new or existing installations.<br />

The SP-C4380 Process Signal Converter/Isolator accepts virtually<br />

all standard process signals as an input, and isolates and<br />

retransmits the signal in either the same units or virtually any<br />

other standard process signal. The SP-C4380 can be field programmed<br />

for reverse or direct action and can receive and transmit<br />

single sided or bipolar* signals. Low Voltage units (SP-CL)<br />

are also available.<br />

The SP-C4151 RTD Transmitters each offer a fixed scale range<br />

input (selected when ordered) and a linearized, isolated, field<br />

selectable 4 to 20 mA or 0 to 10 VDC output. Output is selected<br />

by simple switch settings. Low Voltage units (SP-CL) are<br />

also available.<br />

The SP-C4130 Thermocouple Transmitter offers a fixed scale<br />

range input (selected when ordered) and a linearized, isolated,<br />

field selectable 4 to 20 mA or 0 to 10 VDC output. Output is selected<br />

*Note: The term “bipolar” refers to an input or output that crosses zero<br />

The Model SP-SCU is a universal analog input, loop powered<br />

transmitter for isolation, display and retransmission of all common<br />

process sources. The input allows selection of one of eight thermocouple<br />

types, three RTD types and process inputs, scalable in<br />

engineering units from -19999 to +19999, with adjustable decimal<br />

points. Featuring 1500 V isolation between input and output, the<br />

SP-SCU also offers two independent alarms for additional application<br />

flexibility.<br />

Terms and Conditions of Sale<br />

1. Prices and Specifications are subject to change without notice.<br />

2. Shipping dates are approximate. They are dependent upon credit approval and subject to delays beyond our control.<br />

3. Terms: Net 30 days to companies with established credit rating. In the event Buyer fails to fulfill previous terms of payment, or in case Seller<br />

shall have any doubt at any time as to Buyer’s financial responsibility, Seller may decline to make further deliveries except upon receipt of cash<br />

in advance or other special arrangements.<br />

4. F.O.B. Point and Title: All material is sold F.O.B. factory. Title to all material sold shall pass to buyer upon delivery by Seller to carrier at<br />

7. Export Orders: Terms, discounts and conditions of sale for purchase orders originating or for shipment to final destinations outside the U.S.A.<br />

8. Limited Warranty: The Seller warrants all <strong>SensorPulse</strong> ® and equipment to be free from defects in workmanship or material under normal<br />

use and service for a period of one year from date of shipment. Liability under this warranty is limited to repair or replacement F.O.B. factory of<br />

any parts which prove to be defective within that time or repayment of the purchase price at the Seller’s option provided the instruments have<br />

been returned, transportation prepaid, within one year from date of purchase. All technical advice, recommendations and services are based on<br />

technical data and information which the Seller believes to be reliable and are intended for use by persons having skill and knowledge of the<br />

business, at their own discretion. In no case is Seller liable beyond replacement of equipment F.O.B. factory or the full purchase price. This<br />

warranty does not apply if the maximum ratings label is removed or if the instrument or equipment is abused, altered, used at ratings above<br />

the maximum specified, or otherwise misused in any way.<br />

Warranty Return Policy<br />

Warranty Statement<br />

<strong>SensorPulse</strong> ® quality products were designed, and are manufactured with tight tolerance specifications. Any attempt to repair or otherwise<br />

modify <strong>SensorPulse</strong> ® products will result in the termination of all warranty benefits. Although <strong>SensorPulse</strong> ® may choose to repair a product<br />

returned under warranty, it will not attempt to repair products that are beyond the warranty period.<br />

Return Authorization Statement<br />

Should it become necessary to return any material to the manufacturer (<strong>SensorPulse</strong> ® Corp.), a Return Authorization (RA) number must first be<br />

obtained. A Return Authorization will only be given if the material is within <strong>SensorPulse</strong> ® warranty period. Telephone <strong>SensorPulse</strong> ® at 800-447-<br />

5900 or 219-393-7218 or Fax 219-393-7318 to request an RA#. Be prepared to: (1) Identify the material to be returned (model, S/N, original PO#,<br />

<strong>SensorPulse</strong> ® may determine the defect to be a “non-warranty” repair (The customer will be contacted and the Purchase Order will be charged<br />

accordingly); (4) Describe the “next step” expectations from <strong>SensorPulse</strong> ® .<br />

When returning material to <strong>SensorPulse</strong> ® , the RA# MUST be included on all shipping documents and prominently displayed on the outside of<br />

the shipping container.<br />

Any items shipped to <strong>SensorPulse</strong> ® without a Return Authorization will not be accepted.<br />

Return Authorization Evaluation/Repair Policy<br />

Any repairs made by <strong>SensorPulse</strong> ® will be warranted until the end of the original warranty period (measured from the shipping date of the original<br />

purchase) or 90 days from the repair date whichever is longer. All pricing and warranty periods are subject to change without notice.<br />

If a product returned under warranty is determined to be a “non-warranty” repair, there will be a repair cost of 62% of the unit’s list price plus<br />

shipping.<br />

<strong>SensorPulse</strong> ® has the right to determine a RA to be beyond economical repair. The customer will be advised to purchase a new unit.<br />

Return For Credit and/or Restocking Terms<br />

Return authorizations will be granted only if all of the following conditions are met:<br />

1. Product being returned has not been used or altered in any way.<br />

2. All accessories and packaging are undamaged, unused, and with the unit.<br />

3. The request for return authorization is within 30 calendar days of the invoice date.<br />

4. The request for return is not for a special order item, non-stock, and/or large quantity purchases.<br />

NOTE: All items will be subject to a 25% restocking fee plus freight.<br />
