10. Comparing approaches taken in other UK countries, in particular examining the costs and<br />

benefits of a two-tiered approach to agri-environment schemes.<br />

The postholder will work with policy and advisory staff at SHQ and in the Scottish regions, will be<br />

able to demonstrate initiative in relation to the above tasks and will present a professional image of<br />

the <strong>RSPB</strong> to all external contacts.<br />

Other Duties:<br />

1. Support the Head of Land Use Policy, Scotland as required.<br />

2. Contribute to the work of the Land Use Policy Team, Scotland as required e.g. undertaking<br />

background research and information gathering in relation to freshwater policy or land use<br />

and climate change policy.<br />

3. Play a normal part in the general activities of SHQ.<br />

We expect you to carry out your job responsibilities in an environmentally aware manner,<br />

ensuring as little damage to the environment as possible. Our aim is to ensure all resources are<br />

utilised effectively and efficiently. You will be expected to apply ‘sound value for money’<br />

principles in undertaking purchasing or supply of goods and services.<br />

encourage, develop and support volunteer involvement in our work.<br />
