10. Comparing approaches taken in other UK countries, in particular examining the costs and
benefits of a two-tiered approach to agri-environment schemes.
The postholder will work with policy and advisory staff at SHQ and in the Scottish regions, will be
able to demonstrate initiative in relation to the above tasks and will present a professional image of
the RSPB to all external contacts.
Other Duties:
1. Support the Head of Land Use Policy, Scotland as required.
2. Contribute to the work of the Land Use Policy Team, Scotland as required e.g. undertaking
background research and information gathering in relation to freshwater policy or land use
and climate change policy.
3. Play a normal part in the general activities of SHQ.

In the RSPB volunteers are a major resource and make a vital contribution to the RSPB’s aim to
take action for the conservation of wild birds and the environment. You will be expected to
encourage, develop and support volunteer involvement in our work.
