2. Details of Progress<br />
A. Current efforts /progress in producing, procuring, utilizing and/or promoting sustainable palm oil<br />
Discussi<strong>on</strong>s have been <strong>on</strong>going with all of <str<strong>on</strong>g>Unilever</str<strong>on</strong>g>’s strategic suppliers of palm oil and derivatives,<br />
both in Malaysia, Ind<strong>on</strong>esia and Ghana, <strong>on</strong> how best to move towards compliance with RSPO P&C.<br />
B. Implementati<strong>on</strong> of projects/initiatives that promote sustainable palm oil (including supporting<br />
activities like sp<strong>on</strong>sorship)<br />
Preparing our sourcing strategy for sustainable palm oil, <str<strong>on</strong>g>Unilever</str<strong>on</strong>g>’s supply management group started<br />
a project to thoroughly study the supply chain alternatives for physical supply of SPO as currently<br />
proposed in RSPO. This project involves a live test of the Mass Balance opti<strong>on</strong> with <strong>on</strong>e of <str<strong>on</strong>g>Unilever</str<strong>on</strong>g>’s<br />
major CPO suppliers and will c<strong>on</strong>centrate <strong>on</strong> the feasibility (operati<strong>on</strong>al as well as financially) of this<br />
Chain of Custody opti<strong>on</strong> including full traceability (documented). The aim is to match the system as<br />
closely as possible to the current trade practices in the internati<strong>on</strong>al CPO market. The outcome of the<br />
project including recommendati<strong>on</strong>s will be reported extensively at RT5, a.o. to assist RSPO members<br />
in their thinking process <strong>on</strong> the Chain of Custody opti<strong>on</strong>s.<br />
