PRE-KINDERGARTEN News Isabella, Ayla and Emma have enjoyed constructing with Poly M this week and have made bubble blowers. This week we have rugged up and braved the cold mornings only to be rewarded with much warmer middays. Our class work has been associated with the ‘m’ sound, the number 6 as well as the popular Milly and Molly Program. The children have enjoyed several stories associated with the ‘m’ sound including ‘My Cat Maisie’ by Pamela Allen and ‘Mutt Dog’ by Stephen Michael King. Both books are based around the theme of adopting a stray animal, which prompted much discussion. Another story that was very popular is ‘Milly the Meerkat’ by Oakley Graham. Milly learns about the importance of telling the truth. In Mathematics we are exploring the number 6 and will be completing many hands-on activities to help children to identify, name and sequence numbers as well as write the number 6. We have learnt about responsibility in the Milly and Molly Program, which is also our news topic for the week. It has been interesting hearing about what responsibilites each child has, especially children who have pets. From the Chaplain Rev. Tony Card You have believed another message, when there is really only one true message. (Galatians 1:6- 7, CEV) The Apostle Paul was writing to the new churches in the region of Galatia, in ancient Asia Minor. As you can tell from his comment, he was concerned that these new Christians had begun listening to a different message regarding the good news of God shown in Jesus Christ. Paul was particularly concerned that these new believers understood the truth and were not dragged off into distorted or false views of salvation. So what was the message that Paul was so keen for them, and ASC Under 11s V St. Pats Blue - Saturday 18th May Our Gappie Coach Julia summed it up in the after match debrief “A valiant effort against a very good opposition”. St Pats capitalised through a couple of strong District Rep players in their ranks, contributing to a tough loss for our girls going down 7-1. Congrats to player-of-the-match Sami on a dominant display, ably supported by our striker and lone goal scorer Ailee. Our backs Ella, Natalia and GK Darcie had the most work to do, shutting down many opportunities generated by the strong St Pats attack. Claire and Matilda had little opportunity to shine this week, with play rarely getting out to the wing positions, but when it did they performed well. Meanwhile, every time our halves and inners Millicent, Maddie, Indy and this week’s Captain Portia, thought they could move up in attack, no sooner did they find they were having to turn and fall back in defence (the red faces and beads of sweat reflected the big effort). Each week the passing gets better, the knowledge of the game improves, and the growing trust in your own ability and that of your teammates is helping to build a cohesive unit. Let me cover the three most important aspects of Paul’s teaching. First, Paul was quite clear that there was only one way for humankind to be reconciled with God and each other, and that was through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. No action on our part can bring about this reconciliation. Belief in other gods is futile - there is only one path to the top of the mountain. Second, Paul understood and taught that Jesus died for all humankind for the forgiveness of all sin; past, present, and future. Our faith in what Jesus has done secures our salvation - there is no doubt, no question, no ifs, buts or maybes; if we believe in Jesus and what he has done then our eternal future is secure; our earthly death is merely a transition to our eternal life with Christ. Nothing we have done in the past can disqualify us from this future. Third, Paul knew and taught that the Christian life is not an easy one. He knew first hand of HOCKEY REPORT HOCKEY REPORTS NETBALL REPORTS the persecution and suffering that comes with living a life that is counter-cultural, proclaiming a message of love and healing in word and action. Any message that we hear that suggests that being a Christian is all about being healthy, wealthy and happy is a deception. Sure, these things may come; God does bless us for our faithfulness, but it doesn’t mean we are all going to drive luxury cars and live in palatial homes! Paul knew all too well what it was like to have his life totally transformed by the love of Christ. He wants the same for all of us. Our challenge is to open ourselves to this love and receive Christ into our hearts. With every blessing, Rev. Tony Card. Zoe Cunningham ASC Hot Shots The Hot shots had an amazing game on Saturday the 25th. They had a loss but played very well, learning lots of new skills and teamwork. Lauren, Megan and Kate played great defence. We had very good players as shooter and goal attack, Georgie and Phoebe. Our attackers Georgia, Aria and Sophie had their work cut out for them against the strong opposition but all girls showed great sportsmanship! The final score was 23-0 but we couldn’t have played that game without our awesome coaches, Mrs Cant and Sophie Cant. Our player of the week went to Kate Dowd. Megan Redpath. Rostered off for 1.6.13 are Jorja Dickie and Georgie Geyer ASC All Stars On Saturday the All Saints’ All Stars played against the Collegians Cubs. The Cubs were on fire in the first half. Then the All Stars started to bring it back with it being 7 all at the end of the third quarter. In the final quarter the girls decided it was game on. They shot ahead at the start of the last quarter popping three goals in the ring, one after another. Congratulations to Madi who got player of the match for her excellent work in centre court. All the girls did a fantastic job with the end score being 12-9 to the All Stars. We look forward to seeing everyone next Saturday for another great game.
