Andries le Grange is a director in <strong>the</strong> competition law practice. Andries joined Hofmeyr (now Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr) in 1998 and became a<br />
director during 2000.<br />
Rene Richter, PwC Remchannel<br />
Rene Richter is an Associate Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers and manages <strong>the</strong> <strong>Reward</strong> division in <strong>the</strong> HRS practice which encompasses<br />
<strong>the</strong> <strong>African</strong> continent. René started her career in training during <strong>the</strong> early 1980s at Boston House College and subsequently joined Vista<br />
University in 1984. During this time it became evident that <strong>the</strong> international trends were based on real-time, web-based surveys and research.<br />
René was in <strong>the</strong> position of Managing Director for 6 years prior to <strong>the</strong> PricewaterhouseCoopers buy-out and has extensive <strong>reward</strong> consulting<br />
experience at Executive and Non-Executive levels obtained over a period of 17 years.<br />
Hugo Lampbrecht, Tsogosun<br />
A graduate in Industrial Psychology and Economics from <strong>the</strong> University of Stellenbosch, Hugo is an accomplished human resources<br />
professional with extensive experience gained within <strong>the</strong> Hospitality and Tourism Industry. Previously Human Resources Director of Sou<strong>the</strong>rn<br />
Sun Hotels nationally, Hugo headed up a motivated team responsible for developing human resources strategies which anticipated and<br />
responded to changes in <strong>the</strong>ir labour environment. Hugo is currently Director of HR Services for <strong>the</strong> Tsogo Sun Group and is actively involved<br />
in numerous strategic HR initiatives within <strong>the</strong> hotel and gaming divisions of <strong>the</strong> Group. One of <strong>the</strong> founding directors and legal co-ordinator<br />
for <strong>the</strong> Psychological Assessment Initiative, Hugo also serves on o<strong>the</strong>r industry boards and professional interest groups.<br />

Dr Miriam Altman is a Distinguished Research Fellow at <strong>the</strong> HSRC. She previously served as an Executive Director<br />
from 2002 to 2010, establishing and leading two divisions focused on <strong>the</strong> economy, employment creation and poverty reduction. In March<br />
2010, she was appointed as Commissioner to <strong>the</strong> National Planning Commission in <strong>the</strong> offices of <strong>the</strong> Presidency.<br />

Chantell will discuss some focused research she did to map out different scenarios for <strong>the</strong><br />
<strong>reward</strong> industry in <strong>South</strong> Africa, based on <strong>the</strong> very popular mythology set out in <strong>the</strong> “Mind of a<br />
Fox” trilogy she co-authored with Clem Sunter. This session will enable attendees to be foxy<br />
and pro-active in dealing with <strong>the</strong> many changes that face <strong>the</strong> <strong>reward</strong> industry.<br />
Chantell Ilbury is one of <strong>South</strong> Africa's leading strategists and facilitators, working both locally and internationally.<br />
She specialises in guiding companies and o<strong>the</strong>r organisations through <strong>the</strong>ir strategic conversations on <strong>the</strong> future,<br />
and she believes passionately in <strong>the</strong> power of scenario thinking to unlock <strong>the</strong> best ideas on strategy. She completed her BSc. in Chemistry<br />
and a postgraduate Higher Diploma in Education. She has since completed an Executive MBA from <strong>the</strong> University of Cape Town Graduate<br />
School of Business and has also studied Strategic Negotiation at Harvard Business School in Boston.<br />
Chantell and Clem Sunter shared <strong>the</strong>ir ideas on scenario planning that led to <strong>the</strong> writing of <strong>the</strong>ir best-selling book The Mind of a Fox. The<br />
second book Games Foxes Play was launched in April 2005; and <strong>the</strong>ir third, Socrates & <strong>the</strong> Fox, in November 2007.<br />
