EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN<br />

EMT 110 fulfills curriculum guidelines of Title 22, Cali<strong>for</strong>nia State Health and Safety Code <strong>for</strong> EMT-B certification. Students who<br />

successfully complete the course are eligible to take the National Registry EMT exam. Passing this exam is required to obtain EMT<br />

certification in any county in Cali<strong>for</strong>nia.<br />

EMT 111 is offered in two <strong>for</strong>mats. Both are one-unit classes. Students are required to attend only one <strong>for</strong>mat:<br />

1. Semester-length: Attend first lecture and arrange class and lab time <strong>for</strong> the semester with the instructor; or<br />

2. Weekend recertification: This <strong>for</strong>mat is an intensive two-day class held over one weekend.<br />

EMT 110 EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN-BASIC<br />

Theory and skills <strong>for</strong> treatment of acute/emergency injury and illness. Includes hospital and field EMT provider observation. Meets eligibility<br />

requirements <strong>for</strong> the National Registry EMT Exam. COURSE ADVISORY: AH 120 with a minimum grade of “C.” Medical terminology<br />

provides a basic foundation in understanding terms associated with body systems and the injuries and illnesses which the EMT will be<br />

assessing and treating. LIMITATION ON ENROLLMENT: Current CPR certificate <strong>for</strong> either the Health Care Provider or the Professional<br />

Rescuer. Must be at least 18 years old by the fourth week of the semester. Background check and TB testing are required.<br />
