Whitt from Room 5 is one of only 12 students
selected from the PEAC Arts program to
participate in a master class workshop at the Art
Gallery in Perth next term. We are very happy for
Ruby and look forward to her sharing the work
that she does during this time with us.
Thank you to all those
parents who have sent me their email
addresses.
Please note that this will be the last hard
copy to be sent out with the children.
We will also send it electronically to the
email addresses we have on our Integris
System as a test, so please check your
email to see whether you have received
it and let me know if you haven’t as from
Term 3 you will only be receiving it by
email or on our website – no more paper
copies!

From the Principal
Today we enjoyed a wonderful assembly by our
very skilled instrumental music students. They
all played beautifully on their violins, clarinets,
flutes, cellos and trumpets. We also had great
pleasure in sharing with everyone that Ruby

Last week were treated to the very talented
Melville High School instrumental music students
who had us all up, dancing and thoroughly
enjoying their jazzy music numbers.
Thank you to students from Miss Dartnall’s Year
4/5 class who treated us to the amazing work that
they have been doing recently with their
Macbooks. In a very short period of time they
accomplished a huge amount of learning which
they enthusiastically shared this morning. Terrific
work Year 4/5 and we look forward to you
sharing more of your learning with us throughout
the year.
A large number of students received Honour
Certificates at our assembly today. It is always
with great pleasure that these are written and
issued to students who have been diligent, focused
and have worked hard. Congratulations to each
and every one of you- Well done!
This term marks the end of our first reporting
period for the year. End of semester formal
reports will be sent home later next week and for
those families who are leaving earlier for the
holidays, we can arrange to hold reports here until

you return or post them out. Unfortunately, we
are unable to release them any earlier. Please
inform your child’s teacher or our office staff.
We have noticed a small number of students with
a large number of absences. Absences create a
‘disconnect’ from the classroom curriculum
where key content and concepts are missed and
can be difficult to catch up on. For your interest,
it is deemed by the Department of Education that
students with more than 10 half day absences in
a semester (2 terms) can be at educational risk
because of that ‘disconnect’ created when they
are not attending school.
Next term, school will resume on Tuesday
24 th July for students. I hope that you have a
very happy and restful school holiday break and
are able to enjoy a relaxing time with your
families.
STUDENT BANKING COOL REWARDS
Please be advised that when a student collects
10 tokens and is given a Gold token they are
eligible for a ‘cool reward’. This reward takes
approx 2 weeks to arrive as it has to be ordered
online so please inform your child that it will not
be readily available in order to avoid
disappointment.
Melville Senior High School Enrolments for
2013
Enrolments for 2013 to Melville Senior High
School are now open and will close at the end of
this term, Friday 6 th July.
HELP! - I’m snowed under with new
reading books.
We want to get them into the classroom as
quickly as possible. If you can spare an hour or so
to help cover some with contact, I’d really
appreciate the help.

NEW WEBSITE TO COME!
Exciting news! We are in the
process of developing a new
Attadale Primary School Website
which should be ready in the first
few weeks of Term 3. It will contain up-todate
information and loads of new photos of
kids and school activities.
As soon as it is up and running we will
inform you, so you can go in and have a
look to see if your child is featuring that
week!
The existing website will close from 30 June
2012, so in order to keep up with the news,
please look out for the electronic newsletter
and please inform the front office if you are
not receiving it so we can get the correct
email address. See note above.
Mrs Lee conducted science experiments, oobleck
and slime with our year 2’s from Rooms 11 and
15. They all had a lot of fun.
Mr Nangle on Leave
Mr Nangle will be on LSL for the first 4 weeks of
next term. Mrs Reynolds will be taking on the
bulk of his administration role and Mrs
Orkopulous will be conducting the focus groups.
Mr Harris will be returning, undoubtedly
refreshed and full of energy after his leave.
We are pleased to announce that we have secured
the services of Ms Perkins for the remainder of
the year. She has become a much-valued member
of our staff and we are delighted with her
appointment.

Lightning Carnival
Instrumental Music Assembly
Today’s music assembly featured students of
instrumental music. At Attadale PS students have
the opportunity to play a variety of instruments
taught by visiting teachers from the School of
Instrumental Music. Violin, cello, clarinet, flute
and trumpet are all options that we offer at
Attadale to students who are successful in musical
aptitude testing conducted by Mr DeLacy towards
the end of each year.
Thank you to all students who played today in
front of the assembly, you did a great job.
Cross Country Training
Just a reminder that cross country training is held
at 8.15 on a Tuesday and Friday morning. Next
term we will include Wednesday lunchtime as
well as some students find it difficult to get to
school so early. It was good to see some mums
turning up at 8.15 and running alongside their
children and leading by example. We have been
getting a reasonable turnout of about 35 children
but would love to see more students taking up the
challenge.
After early concerns with the weather it turned
out to be a great day for a winter carnival. All
teams seemed to enjoy the break from regular
routine and no one said they would rather be
doing maths. The results were mixed but it did
not matter because it was all about fun and
exercise. The C netball team once again
remained unbeaten and this augurs well for next
year as most players are only in year 5. The
football team won a game and that trilled them
all, including their coaches.
The A soccer team came down to earth after a
successful home and away season. It was a very
humbling experience playing against teams with
a large number of weekend players. The feeling
on the return bus was a mixture of exhaustion
and pride. Well done to all and we look forward
to our last fixture this Friday against East
Fremantle.
Parents are asked to please wash and return
soccer and football jumpers before the end of
term. We have traded in our football jumpers and
next season we will be playing in a brand new
strip guaranteed to bring new hope and possible
glory!
