JEAN ADAMS
PhD 2004 ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOUR/INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS
GOVERNOR GENERAL’S GOLD MEDAL RECIPIENT
PREVIOUS DEGREES: B.A.; MBA
“What I love about the Schulich School of Business doctoral program is the way
paradoxes and dilemmas of research methodologies, and issues facing today’s
business leaders are front and center. This provides a significant advantage. For me,
it provoked deep reflection as the basis for action-learning research and the emergence
of a new approach to leadership education.”
PhD STUDENT ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT
PhD CANDIDATE MANAGEMENT POLICY CONCENTRATION
PREVIOUS DEGREES: B. COMM., MBA
“Coming from an MBA background, I was not familiar with the research process
of academia. Co-authoring with faculty here at Schulich has been instrumental in
understanding the process of conducting high-quality research. Working with faculty
that recently have completed their PhD has especially provided great insight into the
PhD process in general. Yuval draws from his own previous experience as a PhD
student and provides me with sound advice and guidance that I find incredibly
useful in my pursuit of an academic career.”
YISONG TIAN
SCHULICH PROFESSOR AND ALUMNI
PhD 1992 FINANCE
PREVIOUS DEGREES: B.SC.; MBA
“All of my Schulich professors provided guidance and support on how to do research
and how to teach including most importantly, the necessary ingredients of a
successful academic career – passion, work ethic, dedication, perseverance, caring
and compassion. When I taught my first class, they were there to give me pointers,
how to survive the first ten minutes, and how to learn and improve from each
lecture. All of my experiences as a doctoral student helped shape me in many ways
and is one of the key reasons that I chose to return to Schulich as a Faculty
member after teaching at a variety of other institutions internationally.”
