Fig. 2-44 A 1-year-old female Toy Poodle was brought for treatment<br />

following thoracic trauma. A, On the ventrodorsal radiograph<br />

there is a soft-tissue density in the left caudal lung lobe (open<br />

arrows). This localized interstitial density is representative of pulmonary<br />

contusion. There are no rib fractures identified. B, On the<br />

lateral radiograph there is ventral displacement of T11 relative to<br />

T10 (closed arrows). No evidence of displacement is seen on A. The<br />

fracture of T10 is identified easily on B. Lesions such as this should<br />

not be overlooked in animals radiographed for evaluation of thoracic<br />

trauma. This dog exhibited pain without neurologic deficits.<br />

Diagnosis: Pulmonary contusion. Fracture of T10.<br />
