<strong>Segway</strong> PT Components and<br />
Subsystems<br />
The <strong>Segway</strong> PT includes the following components and subsystems<br />
(see Figure 5):<br />
• InfoKey Controller<br />
• InfoKey Controller Dock<br />
• Handlebar<br />
• LeanSteer Frame<br />
• Tire/Wheel Assembly and Fenders<br />
• Console with Charge and Balance Indicator Lights<br />
• Console Trim<br />
• Mats<br />
• Powerbase<br />
• Batteries<br />
The <strong>Segway</strong> PT has been designed with concern for the safety of the<br />
rider and those who may be nearby. Redundant subsystems maintain<br />
controlled operation of the <strong>Segway</strong> PT in the unlikely event of a<br />
component failure. If one component in a subsystem fails, the other<br />
component continues to operate, allowing you to come to a complete<br />
and safe stop before stepping off. The <strong>Segway</strong> PT has five redundant<br />
subsystems: Controller Boards, Motors, Batteries, the Balance<br />
Sensor Assembly, and LeanSteer Sensors.<br />
