Civil Air Patrol

The Coral Springs Cadet Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol, a U.S. Air Force 

Auxiliary, operates a program for young women and men, ages 12-21, who have 

an interest in aerospace education, emergency services, disaster relief and the 

cadet leadership program. 

Police Explorers

Police Explorers is an organization that gives high 

school students a unique opportunity to participate in 

a range of activities, from community events to police 

training sessions. Meetings are once a week, where the 

Explorers are introduced to law enforcement. Qualified 

Explorers are offered ride-alongs, where they ride 

with Post Advisors and provide support to the Police 

Department’s Field Operations. These Police Explorers also have the chance 

to participate in additional training sessions and learn more in depth about 

particular subjects. 

Fire Explorers

The Fire Explorers program, open to teens ages 

14-18, is taught by highly trained advisors and 

conveys basic fire fighting skills and procedures. 

The Fire Explorers meet once a week for 

approximately four hours, which also count 

toward volunteer service hours. 

Unitown

Unitown is a three-day program focusing 

on prejudice reduction and leadership 

development. The Coral Springs Multi- 

Cultural Advisory Committee sponsors 

Unitown, and the National Conference for 

Community and Justice facilitates the program.

Skate Park

This 13,000-square-foot facility is 

located in Betti Stradling Park, on the 

northwest corner of Wiles Road and 

Coral Springs Drive, and features a 

four-foot half-pipe, various height ramps 

and grinding equipment. Rollerbladers 

and skateboarders can use the park to 

practice their skills. Hours of operation 

for the Skate Park vary by season. 

During the school year, typical hours 

are Monday through Friday from 3 to 9 

p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. 

and on Sunday from noon to 9 p.m. 

The daily fee is $3 for members, and 

$7 for non-members. To be a member, 

the yearly fee for residents is $40, 

which includes insurance. Members 

can purchase a ten-day pass for $25. 

To become a Skate club member, 

non-residents must have a Coral 

Springs non-resident card, which is 

$168 per fiscal year per family, plus 

the $40 membership fee.

Coral Springs Teen Recreational Leagues

The City sponsors many teen recreational leagues, where teens from throughout 

the City can participate in organized sports leagues. The different sports offered 

include baseball, lacrosse, roller hockey, football, cheerleading, softball, basketball 

and soccer.

The Coral Springs Gymnasium hosts classes geared toward teens. There are a 

number of dance classes ranging from ballroom to belly dancing, break dancing to 

hip-hop and tap. There are karate and cardio kickboxing classes, plus many more. 

If you want to try your hand at design, there are classes for baking, chocolate 

design and scrapbooking.

For teens who like the water environment, the City offers aquatic programs. 

Whether you like the backstroke or freestyle, the Coral Springs Swim Club 

covers them all. Other more team-oriented sports include synchronized 

swimming and water polo. There are also diving lessons and lifeguard training 

available.

or special needs. Details are available for Boogie Down Dances, bowling, Saturday 

Social Club and the Kamp Kool Summer Camp.

The Coral Springs Sportsplex is home to some of the best sporting facilities in 

Broward County. When the weather is hot, ice skating at Incredible Ice is a good 

way to cool off. The Sportsplex is also home to the Tennis Center where teens 

can channel their inner Andy Roddick or Serena Williams. Whether you want 

to learn how to swim or consider yourself an expert, the Aquatic Complex has 

pools for swimmers and divers of all levels. 

Cypress Park

Cypress Park is for teens who enjoy the outdoors. The park has a variety of fields 

for different sporting activities like soccer. The Jogging Park is available for anyone 

who likes to jog, run or sprint. The Outdoor Fitness Gym is a great way to add a 

little spice to an existing workout.

To beat summer boredom and have some fun, the city offers camps for teens. 

Kamp Kool is for sixth through eighth graders. Kamp Kool keeps kids busy 

through the camp’s special events, tournaments, games and field trips. For teens 

who need a little more excitement, there is a teen travel camp for students in 

sixth through ninth grades. The camp travels to different places like Boomers, 

Rapids Water Park, Gameworks and to movie theaters to see newly released 

movies.

Routes and Connection Information 

Operating Times: 

The Community Bus Service operates Monday to Friday from 

8 a.m. to 5:55 p.m., on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:55 p.m., and 

on Sundays from 12 p.m. to 4:55 p.m. There is no service on on 

Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. 

The Community Bus Service works in conjunction with connections 

to BCT Routes 2, 34, 62, 83 and 88. 

There is a 25-cent fare for the community bus within the City of 

Coral Springs. Riders making the connection with BCT will need to 

pay the appropriate fares. 

The buses operate as close to schedule as possible, although traffic 

conditions may cause the community bus to arrive slightly early or 

late. The buses are all wheelchair accessible. 

The Green Route Bus, which runs in the north side of 

Coral Springs, and the Blue Route Bus, which runs in the south side 

of the City, both make stops at Sample Road and University Drive, 

allowing riders to change routes. 

The community buses are white with green or blue striping to 

indicate the route.
