and linked to east-west extended longer lines. Axial map reveals a different picture
in the northern part of Rinkeby on the both east and west sides. In these areas, unlike
southern part we can observe more tributary patterns where short lines are only
connected from one side to other lines. That is the reason for a greater number of
segregated lines in the northern parts as demarcated by S1 and S2.
Route Analysis of Rinkeby
Route Analysis has been used here to study pattern of vehicular access. How ever it
can be employed for both pedestrian and vehicular routes. The effective decision in
building route network map is the choice of datum which obtains the lowest depth
in a network. The lowest depth value is equal to 1. Depth of all other routes will be
assigned in accordance to this route. The datum can be either the national route network;
the exterior to a sub-network; the network of a route used by public transport
or any selected route (Marshall 2005). In accordance with these principles I have
chosen Hjulstavägen which is one the main roads connecting the north-west part of
the greater Stockholm to the inner city.
The route network of Rinkeby consists of 35 routes divided in 7 types. In this regard
Rinkeby has comparatively a low diversity network composed of 4 main routes with
depth value of 2 that are Rinkebysvängen, Rinkeby alle, Rinkebystråket and kvar-
