<strong>and</strong> l<strong>in</strong>ked to east-west extended longer l<strong>in</strong>es. Axial map reveals a different picture<br />

<strong>in</strong> the northern part of R<strong>in</strong>keby on the both east <strong>and</strong> west sides. In these areas, unlike<br />

southern part we can observe more tributary patterns where short l<strong>in</strong>es are only<br />

connected from one side to other l<strong>in</strong>es. That is the reason for a greater number of<br />

segregated l<strong>in</strong>es <strong>in</strong> the northern parts as demarcated by S1 <strong>and</strong> S2.<br />

Route Analysis of R<strong>in</strong>keby<br />

Route Analysis has been used here to study pattern of vehicular access. How ever it<br />

can be employed for both pedestrian <strong>and</strong> vehicular routes. The effective decision <strong>in</strong><br />

build<strong>in</strong>g route network map is the choice of datum which obta<strong>in</strong>s the lowest depth<br />

<strong>in</strong> a network. The lowest depth value is equal to 1. Depth of all other routes will be<br />

assigned <strong>in</strong> accordance to this route. The datum can be either the national route network;<br />

the exterior to a sub-network; the network of a route used by public transport<br />

or any selected route (Marshall 2005). In accordance with these pr<strong>in</strong>ciples I have<br />

chosen Hjulstavägen which is one the ma<strong>in</strong> roads connect<strong>in</strong>g the north-west part of<br />

the greater Stockholm to the <strong>in</strong>ner city.<br />

The route network of R<strong>in</strong>keby consists of 35 routes divided <strong>in</strong> 7 types. In this regard<br />

R<strong>in</strong>keby has comparatively a low diversity network composed of 4 ma<strong>in</strong> routes with<br />

depth value of 2 that are R<strong>in</strong>kebysvängen, R<strong>in</strong>keby alle, R<strong>in</strong>kebystråket <strong>and</strong> kvar-<br />
