of courses for industry
Our mission: cost-effective solutions to industrial problems
As a leader in it is field, The Wolfson
Centre has strong links with industry,
offering consultancy, research projects and
short courses that combine technological
excellence with personalised teaching.
Our industrial consulting engineers have
between them well over one hundred man
years of experience in solving problems
in the flow and processing of powders,
granules and lump materials.
This wealth of knowledge has been
acquired across a wide range of industries,
from pharmaceuticals and food processing
through recycling to mining and chemicals.
Our engineers are supported by a large
team of researchers, who are engaged
in pushing back the boundaries of bulk
solids characterisation, handling equipment
design and process models.
As you will no doubt have discovered, your
materials do not always behave as you want
them to, causing loss of production, damage
to equipment and inconsistencies in dosing
through irregular discharge or flow.
Through our short courses you can harness
our wide knowledge and experience to
identify your own bulk solids handling
problems and discover the techniques that
can be employed to overcome them.

Examples of how our in-company
training meets clients’ needs

Staff at a multinational pharmaceutical
company received staff training that
enabled them to understand each
other’s powder-handling problems and
processing issues. This was rolled out
to ten staff within the company’s R&D,
engineering support and manufacturing
sections.
Six delegates from a quarrying company
attended a training session on storage
and discharge of materials relevant to
their production.
Staff at a pet food manufacturer received
training and advice on the use of a new
piece of equipment.
Twenty managers from a mining company
undertook training to help them handle
and transport a new product. These
delegates then trained their own staff in
their factories throughout Europe.
Fourteen delegates from an equipment
manufacturer undertook a two-day
course on operations and equipment
specifi c to their company.

need advanced qualifications. A basic
technical education and/or experience
in industry is enough.
In the past, we have been pleased to
welcome delegates from all over the world

as pharmaceuticals, food processing,
recycling, power generation, machinery
manufacturing, aggregates, minerals,
plastics and chemicals.
