Tell us a little bit about your business<br />
Barking Green offers luxurious organic pet<br />
bedding, blankets and toys with an environmental<br />
conscience. Our organic Barking Green eco lounge<br />
is hand made in Australia from GOTS certified<br />
organic cotton fabrics and filled with Australian<br />
organic wool or certified organic cotton filling.<br />
How did you develop your interest in bedding<br />
for pets?<br />
A few years ago I was struggling to find an organic<br />
dog bed in Australia. It was whilst sourcing eco<br />
friendly options to traditional polyester stuffing that<br />
I first saw a gap in the market and launched www.<br />
ecofilling.com. That was the first step in making eco<br />
friendly filling available to the general public. Next<br />
step was to have custom made homewares and<br />
pet bedding available for those who didn’t, couldn’t,<br />
or simply weren’t interested in making their own.<br />
After a few false starts Barking Green was born.<br />
Where do you source your eco friendly<br />
products?<br />
All items requiring organic fill are manufactured<br />
in Australia by Eco Filling Australia. In addition to<br />
making our own range of organic pet products we<br />
also feature a small range of eco blankets and toys<br />
from talented eco minded International designers.<br />
Your choice of fabrics seems to fit current<br />
trends?<br />
It was important when designing the Barking Green<br />
Eco lounge that the fabrics were current, on trend<br />
and able to fit with contemporary decor. Our dog<br />
beds compliment any home as well as being super<br />
comfortable and organic. Our custom made option<br />
allows the buyer to select their preferred fabrics, in<br />
addition we can make extra covers so the buyer<br />
can change them to suit the season, mood or<br />
decor.<br />
I get excited with every new batch of fabrics that<br />
arrive. Each season we can update new beds to<br />
the range keeping in fresh and new. Bright colours<br />
and patterns are my favourites, they instantly add a<br />
pop of colour to any decor.<br />
What is important to you?<br />
Being Eco and Organic. The more we learn of the<br />
potential dangers of chemicals in our manufacturing<br />
the more organic fabrics become popular. With so<br />
many eco friendly and organic options available<br />
nobody needs to have toxic polyester in their<br />
homes. It’s now becoming popular to be “green”<br />
but the benefits to our environment and ourselves<br />
can’t be under rated.<br />
