OWNER'S MANUAL
Thank you for purchasing the SensorGuard TeleSpyTM
model SNI. You've selected a unique telephone
notification system manufactured to exacting performance
and durability specifications. The intention of this
fully operational telephone is to offer an additional
function that notifies the user of the presence of another
person within a. specifically designated perimeter.
Entering this perimeter constitutes an intrusion by another
person. Disclaimer: Always note that the TeleSpyTM
telephone is intended to be used as an intrusion
notification system only and should never be used as,
nor is it intended to be used as, a security device, Any
dependancy upon the user for this purpose is in direct
defiance of the makerldistributers intended use.
Please read through this manual to familiarize yourself
with the features and design layout. Then procede to
follow the easy step-by-step instructions to install and
operate. Retain this manual for future reference.
You telephone is FCC approved for connection to your
telephone line.

IMPORTANT SAFETY
INSTRUCTIONS
When using your telephone equipment, basic safety
precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk
of fire, electric shock and injury to persons, including the
following:
1. Read and understand all instructions.
2. Follow all warnings and instructions marked on the
product.
3. Unplug this product from the wall outlet before cleaning.
Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a
damp cloth for cleaning.
4. Do not use this product near water, for example, near a
bath tub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, or laundry tub, in a
wet basement, or near a swimming pool.
5. Do not place this product may fall causing serious
damage to the product.
6. Slots and openings in the cabinet and the back or
bottom are provided for ventilation, to protect from
overheating. These openings must not be blocked or
covered. The openings should never be blocked by
placing the product on the bed, sofa, rug, or other
similar surface. This product should never be placed
near or over a radiator or heat register. This product
should not be placed in a built-in installation unless
proper ventilation is provided.
7. Never push objects of any kind into this product
through cabinet slots as they may touch dangerous
voltage points or short out parts that could result in a
risk of fire or electric shock. Never spill liquid of any
kind on the product.
8. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not disassemble
this product, but take it to a qualified serviceman when
some service or repair work is required. Opening or
removing covers may expose you to dangerous
voltages or other risks. Incorrect reassembly can cause
electric shock when the appliance is subsequently used.
9. Unplug this product from the wall outlet and refer
servicing to qualified service personnel under the
following conditions:
A. When the power supply cord or plug is damaged or
frayed.

B. If liquid has been spilled into the product.
C. If the product has been exposed to rain or water.
D. If the product does not operate normally by following
the operating instructions. Adjust only those controls
that are covered by the operating instructions because
improper adjustment of other controls may result in
damage and will often require extensive work by a
qualified technician to restore the product to normal
operation.
-E. If the product has been dropped or the cabinet has
been damaged.
F. If the product exhibits a distinct change in performance.
10. Avoid using a telephone (other than a cordless type)
during an electrical storm. There may be a remote
risk of electric shock from lightning.
11 .Do not use the telephone to report a gas leak in the
vicinity of the leak.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm.
2. Never install telephone jacks in wet locations unless
the jack is specifically designed for wet locations.
3. Never touch uninsulated telephone wire or terminals
unless the telephone line has been disconnected at the
network interface.
4. Use caution when installing or modifying telephone
lines.
NOTE: Refer to "FCC Requirements" section before
connection to telephone line.

INSTALLATION
Plug AC adapter into phone and into conventional AC 120V
wall outlet.
Coil Cord Connection
Insert one end of the coil into modular jack located on the
side of the base. Connect the other end into the modular
jack located on the handset.
Line Cord Connection
With a modular telephone system, connect the straight
telephone line cord to the modular jack located on the
bottom of the base. Insert the other end of cord into a
modular wall jack. Make sure all plugs snap firmly in
place (see Diagram B).
With a four prong style jack, simply use a plug in
modular adapter (see Diagram C).
OPERATION
The TeleSpyTM operates as a regular telephone. Calls are
received and sent normally. Using the TeleSpyTM as an
intrusion detector:
1. Lift the handset.
2. Listen for dialtone.
3. Enter the telephone number to be dialed in the event if
an intrusion. (This number is now entered in the re-dial
memory.).
4. Hang up telephone.
5. Turn the TeleSpyTM power on.(19).
6. Re-dial sequence begins. Re-dialed number rings.
Recipient can answer call, or not, after 60 seconds the
TeleSpyTM is operational.
7. To deactivate, turn TeleSpyTM power off.(l9)

Testing the TeleSpyTM telephone system
The "test" function allows the user to discover the timing,
sensitivity, and distance parameters of the TeleSpyTM.
1 . Test switch to "on" position.(l7)
2. Operate TeleSpyTM as directed.(Page 4)
3. LED "test" light will come on during "off hook" function,
"off hook function" shows instant of detection and
moment of TeleSpyTM listening cycle disconnection.
Last Number Redial
Your TeleSpyTM telephone system remembers the last
number dialed. If the number you dial is busy or not
being answered, hang up. If you want to redial the last
number automatically, press the REDIAL button.
NOTE: You can redial the same telephone number as
many times as required. However, once you dial another
number the previous number is erased.
Ringer OfflLowlHigh
Your TeleSpyTM telephone system features a harmonic
ringer which can be adjusted to a loud (high) or soft (low)
sound level. When you don't want to be disturbed. Slide
the switch to the "OFF" position. You can still make
outgoing calls without being disturbed by incoming calls.
Receiver Volume Control
The receiver volume control is located on the side of
your handset. This enables you to adjust the receiver
volume on your telephone handset from normal to high
for a more comfortable listening level.
Flash
The FLASH key can be used to retrieve a new dial tone
after ending a call.
NOTE: The FLASH key is also a useful feature for
special telephone services such as call waiting and three
party calling. Press briefly, release and perform the
custom call procedure.
Mute
To talk to someone on your end of the phone without the
caller hearing your conversation, press and hold the
MUTE key. To resume your telephone conversation,
release the MUTE key.

TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE
DON'T RETURN IT YET!
If you have followed the instructions in this manual, and
have difficulty operating your TeleSpyTM telephone
system locate the "Problem" and solution to each below.
If the solution to your problem is not listed below, call our
toll free service number on phone back and one of our
experts will talk you through the problem.
Problem: No dial tone
Improper installation. Recheck all modular plugs connections.
Problem with the wiring. Try another phone jack. If your
phone works on another jack, you may be a problem
with your wiring. Contact your local phone company.
Problem: Phone doesn't ring
Ringer switch is not set correctly. Make sure ringer
OffILowl High switch is in the On position.
Too many telephones are installed on the same line.
Contact your local telephone company to determine the
maximum number of extensions for your calling area.
Problem: The sound volume is too low.
Another extension is off hook. Hang up extension.
HEARING AID COMPATIBILITY
Your TeleSpyTM telephone system is compatible with
inductively coupled hearing aids.
CONSUMER INFORMATION
This equipment complies with part 68 of the FCC rules and the
requirements adopted by the ACTA. On the bottom of this
equipment is a label that contains, among other information, a
product identifier in the format US:J4HTE08BSNl. If
requested, this number must be provided to the telephone
com pany.
An applicable certification jacks Universal Service Order
Codes (USOC) for the equipment is provided (i.e., RJIIC) in
the packaging with each piece of approved terminal equipment.
A plug and jack used to connect this equipment to the premises
wiring and telephone network must comply with the applicable
FCC Part 68 rules and requirements adopted by the ACTA. A
compliant telephone cord and modular plugis provided with this
product. It is designed to be connected to a compatible modular
jack that is also compliant. See installation instructions for
details.

The REN is used to determine the number of devices that
may be connected to a telephone line. Excessive RENs on
a telephone line may result in the devices not ringing in
response to an incoming call. In most but not all areas, the
sum of RENs should not exceed five (5.0). To be certain
of the number of devices that may be connected to a line,
as determined by the total RENs, contact the local
telephone company. [For products approved after
July 23, 2001, the REN for this product is part of the
product identifier that has the format US:AAAEQ##TXXXX.
The digits represented by ## are the REN without a decimal
point (e.g., 03 is a REN of 0.3). For earlier products, the
REN is separately shown on the label.]
If this equipment SNI causes harm to the telephone
network, the telephone company will notify you in advance that
temporary discontinuance of service may be required. But if
advance notice isn't practical, the telephone company will
notify the customer as soon as possible. Also, you will be
advised of your right to file a complaint with the FCC if
you believe it is necessary.
The telephone company may make changes in its facilities,
equipment, operations or procedures that could affect the
operation of the equipment. If this happens the telephone
company will provide advance notice in order for you to make
necessary modifications to maintain unintempted service.
If you experience trouble with this equipment, disconnect it from
the network until the problem has been corrected or until you are
sure that the equipment is not malfunctioning.
Please follow instructions for repairing if any (e.g. battery
replacement section); otherwise do not alter or repair any
parts of device except specified.
Connection to party line service is subject to state tariffs.
Contact the state public utility commission, public service
commission or corporation commission for information.
- NOTICE: If your home has specially wired alarm
equipment connected to the telephone line, ensure the
installation of this (SN?) does not disable your alarm
equipment. If you have questions about what will disable
alarm equipment, consult your telephone company or a
qualified installer.
This equipment is hearing aid compatible.

WHEN PROGRAMMING EMERGENCY NUMBERS AND
(OR) MAKING TEST CALLS TO EMERGENCY NUMBERS:
I. Remain on the line and briefly explain to the dispatcher
the reason for the call.
2. Perform such activities in the off-peak hours, such as
early morning or late evenings.
Limited Warranty
This TeleSpyTM telephone is warranted to the original
purchaser to be free from defects in materials and
workmanship under normal installation, use, and service
for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase as
shown on the purchaser's receipt.
The obligation of SENSORGUARD~M under this warranty
shall be limited to repair or replacement (at our option)
during the warranty period of any part which proves
defective in material or workmanship under normal
installation, use, and service, provided the product is
returned to SENSORGUARDTM or to one of our authorized
Service Centers TRANSPORTATION CHARGES
PREPAID (except for California residents). Products
returned to us or to an Authorized Service Center must be
accompanied by a copy of the purchase receipt. In the
absence of such purchase receipt, the warranty period
shall be one (1) year from the date of manufacture. To
obtain service under this warranty, return the defective
product to the service center nearest you together with
your sales slip and $5.00 for postage and handling
(California residents need only provide proof of purchase).
You may also have other warranty rights which vary from
state to state.
This warranty shall be invalid if the product is damaged
as a result of defacement, misuse, abuse, neglect,
accident, destruction or alteration of the serial number,
improper electrical voltages or currents, repair alteration
or maintenance by any person or party other than our
own service facility or an authorized Service Center, or
any use violative of instructions furnished by us.

This warranty is also rendered invalid if this product is
removed from the country in which it was purchased, if it
is used in a country in which it is not registered for use,
andlor if it is used in a country for which it was not
designed. Due to variations in telephone systems and
communications laws, this product may be illegal for use
in some countries. SENSOR GUARD^^ assumes no
responsibility for damages or penalties incurred resulting
from the use of this product in a manner or location other
than that for which it is intended.
This one-year limited warranty is in lieu of all other
expressed warranties, obligations or liabilities.
ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES, OBLIGATIONS, OR
LIABILITIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE
IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND
FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, SHALL BE
LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE ONE-YEAR DURATION
OF THlS WRITTEN LIMITED WARRANTY. SOME STATES
DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS ON HOW LONG AN
IMPLIED WARRANTY LASTS, SO THE ABOVE
LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY
SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES
FOR BREACH OF THlS OR ANY OTHER WARRANTY,
EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, WHATSOEVER.
Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of
special, incidental or consequential damages, so the
above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. This
warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may
also have other rights which may vary from state to
state.
