The Professional Diploma in Cosmetic Dentistry<br />

The British Academy of Implant Dentistry was proud to gather a group of the best cosmetic speakers in the field to<br />
present lectures and workshops during the January module of the Professional Diploma in Cosmetic Dentistry in Erbil-Iraq.<br />
The Vice President of <strong>BAIRD</strong>, Prof. Wolfgang Richter from London/United Kingdom in addition to two International<br />
speakers; Dr. Julian Caplan from The United Kingdom and Prof. Alexandre Khairallah from Lebanon presented<br />
lectures and seminars over 3 days (Friday 11 th January till Sunday 13 th January) including hands on workshops on Onlay-<br />
Inlay techniques, Laser dentistry and Radiographic analysis.<br />
The lectures were also very attractive as they contained clinical updated tips on various clinical topics including:<br />

Treatment Planning,<br />
Direct & Indirect<br />
Adhesive Restorations<br />
-from Preparation to<br />
Cementation, Inlay<br />
and Onlays, CAD CAM<br />
dentistry, Basic Principles<br />
of Laser Dentistry and<br />
Radiology updates.<br />

The February module was a completely different and a unique module, as the Professional Diploma in Cosmetic Dentistry Course<br />
delegates had the opportunity to listen to one of the top speakers in the fields of implant dentistry; Dr. Hassan Maghaireh; lecturer<br />
at University of Manchester and The head of the Scientific Committee of <strong>BAIRD</strong>. He presented various lectures on treatment planning<br />
of implant dentistry covering short implants, guided bone regeneration, prosthetic soft tissue sculpture and provisionalisation. In<br />
his second talk, he focused on the various options considered in restoring dental implants, discussing the pros and the cons of the<br />
different abutments in implant dentistry and the difference between screw and cement retained implant prosthesis. Dr. Marwan<br />
Qasem, from Palestine in his return presented a very interesting talk on when teeth should be saved and when they should be<br />
replaced with dental implants, which has broaden the horizons of the decision making process for our course delegates.<br />
In the 2 nd part of the February module, Dr. Rami Chayah, an Inman Aligner certified instructor and one of the most popular<br />
Middle East Speakers for Straight–talks Seminars, shared his fantastic experience in non conventional orthodontics with the<br />
course delegates through a full day of certified lectures which were followed by hands on workshops on cases selection and<br />
planning for Inman Aligner.<br />
Occlusion was also discussed in detail during this module with special focus on the effect of good occlusion on long term<br />
prosthetic stability. Dr. Nakas and Dr. Dimitrious from Greece presented very interesting lectures on this topic which were<br />
followed by hands-on workshop on crown and bridge preparation using specially designed models prepared by the course<br />
organisers for our course delegates.<br />
