Plater Robinson took this photograph in 1989 at the site of a desecrated Jewish cemetery near Kasimierz,
Poland. The Nazis uprooted the cemetery stones and put them to "practical" use as pavement slabs. The
killers sought to destroy the Jewish people and all evidence of the Jewish people. The gravestones were
collected after the war and used to construct this memorial to a ‘vanished world.’
