CeBIT is the world's largest trade fair showcasing digital 

IT and telecommunications solutions for home and 

work environments. The key target groups are users 

from industry, the wholesale/retail sector, skilled 

trades, banks, the services sector, government 

agencies, science and all users passionate about 

technology. 

CeBIT offers an international platform for comparing 

notes on current industry trends, networking, and 

product presentations. Deutsche Messe AG has 

organized CeBIT in Hannover each spring since 1986.

For fifth year, SAIFOR displayed its products in CEBIT 2010, the biggest trade show for 

the ICT sector worldwide . 

On this edition, a 100m2 stand was build to show the new aisle cooling solutions, the 

most optimal and efficient solution for medium-sized and large data centres. 

In addition, through this event SAIFOR launched the HDC (HIGH DENSITY COOLING 

unit), specifically designed for high density Data Centres. It offers a maximum cooling 

capacity up to 36 Kw with 12°C water inlet and an outgoing air-flow over 5000m3/h, at 

a temperature of 22°C.

SACS is the SAIFOR cooling solutions range for Data 

Processing Centers, providing bespoke solutions for High 

and Medium Density facilities. 

The products include precise, high performance air/water 

heat exchangers, air-flow control systems, and other 

solutions to optimise cooling in existing facilities. 

The constant progress of the new technologies has led to 

increasingly compact and powerful equipment, which 

means a direct increase in energy consumption for actual 

operation and to provide the facility with adequate cooling. 

The main problem lies in the fact that nearly half of all 

energy consumption in datacenters is used for cooling, 

which is in many cases partially wasted due to inefficient 

design, planning, installation, or maintenance. SAIFOR, as 

an industrial specialist providing state-of-the-art solutions 

for the infrastructure of datacenters, offers its SACS range, 

an advanced range of solutions that respond to the

up to 36 Kw with a 12°C water inlet and an 

outgoing air-flow over 5000m3/h, at a 

temperature of 22°C.

It is ready for operation with ÄT of the air of up to 

25°C, so that it can function at high water-intake 

temperatures, thus reducing condensation levels

recommended for operation in facilities provided 

with Free Cooling type external 

Chillers. 

This means a total commitment to reduce carbon 

emissions while optimising PUE (Power Usage 

Effectiveness) of the datacentre.

This is an attractive, cost-effective solution for 

small mediumdensity facilities, which require 

high thermal efficiency, with Redundancy N+1 or 

N+2 for future needs, benefitting from the 

modularity offered by the aisle solutions. 

It is supplied in standard format, optimised for 

facilities combined with the SAIFOR CUBO® air 

containment system for hot aisle.

AISLE COOLING UNITS 

This is the most optimal and efficient solution for 

medium-sized and large data centres. 

The aim is to increase efficiency by placing the cool units 

closer to heat sources, absorbing the air from the cold 

aisle, cooling it, and blowing it towards the servers' air 

intakes. 

This allows for greater modularity in planning, as the 

necessary capacities can be provided for the installation 

date, and the time to adapt the infrastructures to future 

needs can also be projected. 

In this respect, SAIFOR offers empty modules with the 

same dimensions which can be installed in the same row 

of racks. The advantage of this is that the hydraulic 

installation can be fitted in the initial phase of the 

projects, while the additional Cool Units can be fitted only 

once they are needed. 

Greater efficiency is achieved in combination with the 

SAIFOR CUBO® air containment systems, as it prevents 

mixing of hot and cold air which can be absorbed by the 

installed servers. 


BENEFITS: 

• Possibility to create high-density zones in the same row of racks. 

• Stable and constant cooling from bottom to top of the rack. 

• Positioning of the cool units next to heat sources. 

• Forgoes the room air-conditioning concept in favour of a more efficient concept with cool units for each row of racks. 

• All other equipment installed in the room work at more appropriate ambient temperatures than in the case of cold aisle containment. 

• Multiple options for simple redundancy N+1 or N+2 by adding more units. 

• Redundancy N+2 can be used to incorporate more equipment into the aisle racks in the future, up to solution N+1. 

• With redundancy in each aisle, it is possible to stop a unit for maintenance work, reducing downtime for maintenanse & operations. 

• Access to vital parts of the product from the front and rear. 


HDC RACK 

HIGH DENSITY COOLING

The Cool Unit HDC - Rack shares the same 

functional characteristics as the Cool Unit HDC - 

Aisle, but with the addition of the rack 

containment kit. 

Given its closed design, and to prevent an 

excessive intake of air pressure at the front of the 

servers, it offers a maximum cooling capacity of 

up to 31kW with a 12°C water intake and an 

outgoing air-flow of higher than 4000m3/h, at a 

temperature of 22°C. 

It is designed as a response to facilities using ultra 

high density Blade Server technology in which the 

equipment is capable of dissipating up to 31kW, or 

for rooms where, due to space issues, it is not 

possible to implement aisle air 

containment solutions. 

SAFETY AND MONITORING: 

• The standard supply incorporates automatic 

door opening in the event that 

the overheating alarm is triggered or in the case of 

fire. 

• An external temperature sensor to monitor 

sensitive areas of the rack. 

MODULARITY: 

• This enables configuration of various racks and 

cool units in the same row 

to provide air circulation, even in the event that 

one cool unit fails. 

SCALABILITY: 

• In in-line configurations in a safe environment, 

high-performance filters can 

be replaced to obtain greater air flow and cool 

capacity. 

MDC RACK 

MEDIUM DENSITY COOLING 

The Cool Unit MDC - Rack shares the same functional 

characteristics as the Cool Unit MDC - Aisle but with the 

addition of the basic rack containment kit (no automatic 

door opening). 

Designed for Medium-Density Data Centres, it offers a 

maximum cooling capacity of up to 13 Kw with a 8°C water 

intake and an outgoing air-flow of more than 2000m3/h 

at a temperature of 20°C. 

It is an attractive, cost-effective solution for small 

medium-density facilities that require high thermal 

efficiency in a very compact space. 

Up to 13kW* 

MODULARITY: 

• Possibility of compact configurations with 

various racks and Cool Units in the same line, with 

a Cool Unit placed between every 2 racks. It 

requires redundancy N+1. 

SCALABILITY: 

• With in-line configurations, in a safe 

environment, the filters can be replaced to 

achieve greater flow rate and power.

RACK COOLING UNITS: 

With the rack cooling format, a closed loop is created by 

laterally connecting the rack to the cool unit by means of 

additional frames placed at the ends of the assembly 

enabling maximum use of the rack in depth and 

optimisation of the air flows. 

When recirculating the air outside the rack, there are no 

obstructions or equipment to prevent the installed 

servers from being cooled properly, thus ensuring that the 

cool air reaches the front of the rack at all times, 

regardless of the position in which the servers are set up. 

Furthermore, since the air is not expelled outside the aisle 

but rather moves through the front/rear frames, greater 

ÄT are achieved which ensures that the units continue to 

work in best cooling zone. 

The HDC-Rack is the most efficient solution, as it is 

possible to work with ÄT of the air up to 25°C, and is 

therefore the most ideal solution for ultra high-density 

applications combined with external Free-Cooling type 

chillers. 


In addition, given that it is a thermally isolated format, 

with a protection grade of IP 40, it is ideal for installation in 

industrial and office environments

The Keep-Cool® supervision module is used to centralise control of 

up to 200 units installed in serials (up to 600 cool units with 

additional modules) and offers real-time monitoring and 

management of the status and functionality of the operating 

cooling units. 


It uses the most advanced web protocols and stores the information 

in the database (reliability & portability). It is the perfect solution 

since it is a Plug & Play system which considerably simplifies 

installation and fast implementation. 

The correct use of the control unit, combined with an analysis of 

data obtained over time will enable the settings for the whole 

facility to be optimised, from the chiller to the cool units, ensuring 

the datacenter operate in the most efficient manner according to 

the real needs of the facility.

possibility to work directly in SNMP or BACnet, being easily integrated in

ABU DHABI AIRPORT 

AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL CENTRE 

Abu Dhabi International Airport's new control tower and air traffic 

facilities are scheduled to be fully operational later this year as part of a 

$6.8bn airport expansion. Within this, French company Aeroport de Paris 

Ingenierie (ADPi) was appointed in 2006 for a $108.9m project. 

Air Traffic Control Complex (ATCC), positioned midway between the two 

runways is designed to include a five-storey technical and support 

building integrated with a 110-metre high visual control tower, the tallest 

in the region. 

The design for the telecommunications rooms and data centers at the 

ATCC was based on stringent specification requirement for the special 

nature of the ATCC. 

Bond Communications, a world class technology integrator won the 

contract to implement an integrated telecommunication system at the 

ATCC. The major challenge they faced was to find a cabinet manufacturer 

who could supply cabinets meeting the specifications and deliver quickly. 

They turned to SAIFOR and Topnet Distribution, the Authorised SAIFOR

CASE STUDY - UNITED ARAB EMIRATES 

SAIFOR and Topnet Distribution offered the customer a solution based 

on the Dynamic cabinet with some customization as required for the 

project. The implementation team faced a tough deadline to complete 

the project, but at the same time it had to be a customized design to meet 

the specification. SAIFOR was the only manufacturer who could meet all

Some of the unique requirement of the project were: IP42 specification,

NEW NETWORK OPERATIONS CENTER 

CASE STUDY - QATAR 

Kuwait Finance House (KFH) is a pioneer of the banking 

phenomenon known as Islamic Finance or Shari'a 

compliant banking. KFH is the first Islamic bank 

established in the State of Kuwait and today it is one of 

the foremost Islamic Financial Institutions in the world. 

From its inception in 1977, KFH has grown into a robust 

banking and financial institution, as well as a leader in 

the Islamic financial industry. KFH is now a market 

leader not only in the Islamic banking industry, but also 

in the banking sector as a whole, providing a wide range 

of Shari'a compliant products and services covering 

banking, real estate, trade finance, investment 

portfolios and corporate, commercial and retail 

financial markets. 

THE PROJECT - New NOC 

The main challenge in this project was creating a customized solution that was 

acceptable to the different user needs that are active in the different areas of 

the NOC. A big control room for 6 operators, an office room for 6 operators, a 

training & meeting room up to 8 attendants and a manager office, all with their 

own requirements were in the project. 

Each room had these unique requirements in terms of ergonomics, aesthetics 

and functionality. Lighting, high density of cabling, a big amount of screens, 

lowest reflection of the work surfaces and a list of small details were taken in 

consideration by KFH, Deal Telecomunication Co. and SAIFOR teams. Several 

meetings in Kuwait and many layouts and renderings were needed to get the 

approval of the customer. 

In the NOC main room, a big console U shape with 10 pedestal cabinets for 

computers was designed to hold a large number of CPUs. In their back side they 

equipped with thermostat controlled fans to extract the heat. The design of this 

big console was as well made to facilitate that all the operators could move 

easily and vision of the Datacenter through the glass walls was direct. 

One of the main issues was how to route and manage all the cabling to each 

operator position. By the raised floor and thanks to the high cable management 

possibilities of the ERGONOC consoles this was one of the simplest challenges to 

do, just few customization were required. In addition, due to the high number of 

screens and other equipment installed in each console, also a large number of 

data & power sockets were also required to be installed in each console. 

On the other hand, the meeting room that was placed in the centre of the 

available area was designed with glass walls to allow a vision of the rest of areas 

from inside and outside. The main reason was that all this area is located under 

floor level and lighting and stress was a main human factor for the operator 

working there. 

To finalize, in each room and offices were placed several auxiliary furniture and 

credenzas for printers, photocopiers and other devices. And 24/7 ergonomic 

chairs were chosen for the perfect comfort and of the operators.

FLEXIBLE EMEA WIDE-RACK SUPPLY 

SAIFOR racks and accessories were selected by JUNIPER to equip their lab rooms 

all over EMEA. 

Through SAIFOR BENELUX, the sister company of the SAIFOR group, with 

Headquarters in Antwerp (Belgium), a different type of 

racks and open frames, and specific accessories were 

defined to standardise their lab rooms. For almost all 

the EMEA sites just in time deliveries were requested 

and performed by Saifor. 

In the Juniper's Schiphol-Rijk office (Amsterdam), 

SAIFOR supplied more than 300 ARCTIC racks 

(800x1000) and open frames for it's lab center. 

A part of this lab center is also used as a showroom. For 

the showroom area the racks , accessories and cable 

race ways were finished in black color. This way, through 

a big glass wall, the guests are introduced step by step, 

by spotlights, to the different Juniper equipments 

installed in those racks.

BBVA · TIER IV DATACENTER 

PER · REINFORCED RAISED FLOOR SYSTEM 

SAIFOR has developed a unique system to meet the specific needs of raised floor for 

Control Rooms & Data Centers, the PER System. 

PER is a reinforced raised floor System , composed by a modular metal structure that can 

be raised from ground level to any Height (maximum 2000mm), creating corridors of 1200 

x 1200 mm under room floor, without altering the resistance per m2 or point required. 

The PER System from SAIFOR exceeds the specifications of European standard EN12 825, 

and based on projects, can be customized to meet the requirements of each site. 

CASE STUDY - SPAIN 

The main reasons to use the PER System from SAIFOR are the easiness in service, 

maintenance, safety and freedom of movements that a corridor of 1200mm width and 

aprox.1500mm height offers. 

On the other side, the perfect management and installation of cables, fire suppression 

systems, water pipes, or Power devices that can be installed on this sub frame, thanks to 

the specific supports and brackets designed for a tidy & clean installation, taking profit of 

the height level possibilities. 

The PER System from SAIFOR has the advantage to be compatible with any market raised 

floor system, since it incorporates multiple supports (each 600mm) to support the regular 

pedestals, or the direct assembly of tiles over the PER cross frame. 

Moreover, in order to meet any specific requirement of Modern Data centers, a specific 

range of high endurance and fire resistant tiles, including perforated ones with Airflow 

Management Control have been designed.

CASE STUDY - FRANCE 

THE PROJECT 

GDF SUEZ has integrated its head quarters in the T1 Tower 

in La Défense, one of the tallest towers of this business 

area. 

During the development of its network infrastructure and 

computers, they needed a rack capable of meeting both 

the constraints of their cabling, but also to integrate their 

servers. 

Quite naturally they turned to SAIFOR who proposed a 

range consistent and complete. It embraced an overall 

aesthetic and modern. 

The ARCTIC NET range was used for all distribution cabling 

to the tower, their server rooms have been equipped by the 

ARCTIC ASP, the server version. 

In total the project took more than 350 racks provided by 

SAIFOR, while respecting the time constraints of GDF SUEZ.
