MAJOR CELEBRATIONS AT CLINIQUE LA PRAIRIE
2006 - A Landmark Year
Clinique La Prairie, the award winning health spa and medical centre, based in Montreux,
Switzerland has, in 2006, much to celebrate. The first event to be recognized is the 75th
anniversary of the clinic, whose foundation in 1931 was the brainchild of Dr Paul Niehans,
the pioneer in cell therapy rejuvenation. Now known as CLP Extract, the treatment is
recognized as a means of fortifying the immune system and alleviating the effects of
aging.
2006 also marks the 30 th anniversary of the clinic’s ownership by Mr Armin Mattli. A native
Swiss, and a banker by profession, he worked for many years in Central America,
particularly on major projects to help improve the economies of Guatemala and El
Salvador, and now spends his time between Florida and Switzerland. He continues to
thrive on new business ventures, and the continued success and development of Clinique
La Prairie.
In 1978, Armin Mattli created La Prairie Cosmetics, a range of highly advanced skin
products whose development was based on the clinic’s expertise in cellular revitalization
research. Later, he sold this premier brand, and then established Prestige Products of
Switzerland, launching another prestigious cosmetics line, aptly named SWISS
PERFECTION (www.swissperfection.com). Today, this is the brand exclusively used in the
clinic’s Spa for all face and body treatments.

More recently, the clinic has undergone major re-development with the construction of an
enlarged and luxurious health spa, and the opening of the new ‘Chateau’ residential unit.
The project has enabled the clinic to incorporate an even wider range of life enhancing
treatments, including programmes in thalassotherapy, weight management, Beautymed,
exercise and fitness, as well as every aspect of bodily rejuvenation. Simultaneously, the
clinic’s internationally renowned medical centre has upgraded its own facilities, which now
include a new radiology unit and other specialised medical services to augment its existing
expertise in dermatology, dentistry, aesthetic surgery and clinical nutrition.
Mr Mattli’s other business endeavours are centred on Miami where he has developed
several residential projects, his latest the 50 floor Clinique La Prairie Lifestyle building,
named Ten Museum Park (www.tenmuseumpark.com), in downtown Miami. In early 2007,
the building will see the inauguration of a Clinique La Prairie Spa, matching the Swiss
facilities in all but medical treatments which will remain firmly centred in Montreux.
To round off the Swiss clinic’s successes this year, it has received two awards. A Sunday
Times survey on international spas, measured on facilities and quality of amenities,
marked Clinique La Prairie 10 out of 10. It also received the top award as best European
medical spa at the European Spa Exhibition held in Monaco.
Accordingly, the clinic plans to stage a major VIP event later in the summer in Montreux to
celebrate its anniversaries and its achievements.
