3.Daily Message /Members: Estimate the number of daily messages that are posted to
each group or the number of members. This is important for deciding how much time you
want to spend at each group and whether it is worth participating in discussions in the
future. Obviously, a group with few relevant postings each day rates a lower priority than
one with many. Another important consideration is how well the groups reaches a
desirable the target audience. Note your assessment in the Relevancy / Evaluation column.
4.Discussion Threads: Summarize the types of discussions currently going on.
Particularly note the ones which lend themselves to your participation. This will help you
determine the relevancy of a group. In Exercise 7-3 you will compare current
discussion threads with possible acceptable responses you post to each group.
5.Relevancy/Evaluation: Record any general observations you have about the nature and
tone of the discussions. Assess how much potential the group has for future participation
based on how well it reaches a target audience, the daily activity, and relevancy of the
discussion threads.
6.After a reasonable evaluation period, choose the ones in which you want to begin
participating. Be ready to add and delete groups from your list as you get a better feel
for which are likely to produce the best results for the time spent.
