Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievment
Qualification is intended for those who assess both
occupational competence in the work environment
and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in
environments other than the workplace (for example a
workshop, classroom or other training environment).
The Entry Requirements?
You need to demonstrate competency in order to enrol
for this course. Competency is assessed by having either
experience (minimum two years) in the subject area you
want to assess or at least a qualification at Level 3 and
above in your subject area. You will also need to have
access to at least two learners who are completing a
vocational course. Your interaction and assessment of
these two candidates will provide evidence towards your
qualification. (if you do not have access to two vocational
learners Rutledge is able to facilitate two learners for you
to enable you to meet all the assessment criteria for the
qualification. This service will cost £100 extra.)
Qualfication Structure...
In order to gain this qualification you will need to
complete a portfolio on the following Mandatory Units.
• Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
• Assess occupational competence in the work environment
• Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding
The qualification has QCF credit value of 15 credits with
guided learning hours (GLH) of 84 hours.
Assessment...
The aim of this qualification is to assess the candidate
assessor’s performance in assessing vocational skills,
knowledge and understanding in environments other
than the workplace – for example workshops, classrooms
or other training environments. There must be evidence
to cover all of the assessment methods listed in the units.
The candidate assessor’s performance evidence must be
assessed by observation, examining the products of work
and questioning/discussions.
There must be valid, authentic and sufficient evidence
for all the assessment criteria. Holistic assessment is
encouraged and one piece of evidence may be used
to meet the requirements of more than one learning
outcome or assessment criterion. There must be
evidence of the candidate assessor carrying out at least two
assessments of two learners’ skills, knowledge and
understanding (four assessments in total).
Induction...
The structure of the course includes an Induction
Workshop where you will learn about the theory and
under-pinning knowledge of working as an Assessor. The
Induction is also for the purpose of letting you know how
the course will be assessed and an opportunity for you to
ask questions.
Duration: 6 Classes - 1 Day Per Month
