Program Admission

St. Cloud State University seeks to reward high achieving students for
their academic successes through various scholarship opportunities.
As part of your application for admission, you are also applying for
merit scholarships. Students who apply by the posted deadlines will
automatically be considered for the following scholarships:
First Year Student Scholarships
First year students who are admitted to the University prior to scholarship deadlines will be
considered for all scholarships for which they meet the minimum requirements. These scholarships
awarded through the Office of Admissions will not require an additional application and are
merit based; factoring into consideration a student’s academic record and standardized test scores.
Students receiving awards will be notified following the deadlines. To be eligible, students must earn
traditional admission into the University and have official ACT or SAT scores on file with the Office
of Admissions.
Fall Semester Application Deadline: December 15
Spring Semester Application Deadline: October 15
Transfer Student Scholarships
Transfer students should demonstrate achievement with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 on a
4.0 scale and have at least 40 transferrable credits prior to enrollment to be strong candidates for
scholarships. All St. Cloud State University transfer students are automatically considered for the
academic scholarships and thus there is no application to complete. All transfer students must be
admitted to the University by the following deadlines to be considered for automatic scholarships.
Fall Semester Application Deadline: March 15
Spring Semester Application Deadline: October 15
Cultural Diversity Scholarships
New students who contribute to the cultural diversity at St. Cloud State University will be
automatically considered for these awards. To be eligible, students should demonstrate strong
academic achievement through their curriculum, academic record and standardized test scores.
In order to be considered for a cultural diversity scholarship, students must be admitted prior to:
Fall Semester: December 15 Spring Semester: October 15
Non-Resident Tuition Scholarships
Non-Resident Tuition Scholarships are awarded to freshman students who do not otherwise qualify
for in-state or reciprocity tuition. Recipients pay the equivalent of in-state tuition. Applicants must
rank in the top 15% of their graduating class or earn a composite score of 25 or above on the ACT.
Non-Resident Tuition Scholarships are awarded to transfer students who do not otherwise qualify
for in-state or reciprocity tuition. Recipients pay the equivalent of in-state tuition. Applicants must
provide evidence of a 3.0 GPA in all college work (minimum 24 transferrable credits) to qualify.
All students who meet the above requirements will be automatically awarded the Non-Resident
Tuition Scholarship on an on-going basis. There is no application deadline.

Activities Résumé
All applicants must submit an activities résumé indicating their involvement in extra/co-curricular
activities, community involvements, and employment experiences. Please indicate leadership
positions and length of involvement.
Essay
All applicants must submit an essay with a guideline of approximately 300 words.

1. People and events can impact our lives in profound ways. Tell us about an experience that
significantly affected who you are as a person or student.

Lauren Marie Riesgraf Endowed Scholarship
New first year students from Maple Grove and Annandale High Schools who have a minimum
3.0 GPA are eligible to apply for the Lauren Marie Riesgraf Endowed Scholarship. Students must
work part time during college to support their educational pursuits. Students wishing to apply must
submit an essay addressing the following topic:
Describe your goals and aspirations upon graduation from high school and how receiving this
scholarship may help you in the pursuit of your dreams.

St. Cloud State University Scholars Day
Our highest achieving students will be invited to the St. Cloud State University campus in February
to participate in our St. Cloud State University Scholars Day. Students will interview for prestigious
St. Cloud State University scholarships and discuss opportunities available through the University
Honors Program with select faculty and staff. Students who have applied for admission prior to
December 15 will be considered for invitation to this exciting event.
Additional Scholarships
While the majority of St. Cloud State University scholarships are awarded based upon a student’s
application for admission, select awards do require additional paperwork. The enclosed application
will provide students the opportunity to apply for scholarships which require specific criteria of the
recipient. Students must carefully follow all instructions to be considered for the scholarships.

Only completed applications will be considered (including essay and activities résumé). Only
students seeking to apply for these select awards or admission into the University Honors Program
need to submit the enclosed application. All other scholarships will be awarded based upon your
completed application for admission (including ACT/SAT) and do not require the enclosed
application.

Legacy Tuition Waivers
Legacy Tuition Waivers are available for students from non-reciprocity states who are not otherwise
receiving in-state tuition rates. Students whose parent, step-parent or adopted parent graduated
from St. Cloud State University are eligible for this award, which enables recipients to pay the
equivalent of in-state tuition. Students can apply for this award by submitting the enclosed
application.
Departmental Scholarships
Individual departments at St. Cloud State University also may provide scholarships to new, entering
students. Requirements for these awards are set forth by the department in which the student has
chosen to major or participate. Students should contact the departments directly if interested in
pursuing departmental scholarships for application materials and deadlines.

St. Cloud State University Honors Program
The St. Cloud State University Honors Program offers students the opportunities of a
comprehensive university alongside the experience of a small liberal arts college. Our small class
sizes (average 16 students) and personal attention (student – faculty ratio 9:1) combine with a
curriculum that challenges students to think critically, creating a unique and challenging college
experience.
Honors is a highly selective program designed with academically talented students in mind.
Approximately 130 students are invited each year to immerse themselves in St. Cloud State’s
nationally recognized and growing University Honors Program. Through your participation in
