The Central Valley Corvette Club was
chartered in 1991 for the owners of the only
real AMERICAN sports car, the awesome
CORVETTE. It's a social organization with
activities that provide enjoyment for the true
Corvette lover.

OUR MEMBERS.
Club activities include monthly meetings,
car shows, weekend Club activities,
overnighters, picnics, road rallies, summer
cruises, holiday get-to-gathers and more!
Eligibility for membership in CVC is
defined in Article III, section 1 of the
bylaws in part as follows: "Membership in
Central Valley Corvettes shall be open to all
Corvette owners who are sponsored by a
member in good standing. Additionally, a
prospective member must, within a three
month period , attend two consecutive
meetings, participate in two club sanctioned
social activities, pay current membership
dues and initiation fees, and be approved by
two- thirds vote of membership present at
any general membership meeting by secret
ballot
Sponsors shall be responsible for advising
prospective member of results. All members
must submit proof of personal insurance in
accordance with California State Law upon
application for membership, and all
members must be a member of the
association providing club liability
insurance for CENTRAL VALLEY
CORVETTES.
A prospective member who does not have a
sponsor will be provided one by the
membership committee. Non-members may
not participate in more than three meetings
or two sanctioned activities.
CVC membership dues are $67.00 plus an
initiation fee of $35.00. Membership entitles
two members at the same address voting
privileges at meetings (provided they are in
good standing) and membership rights.

months out. It is so much less stressful then
procrastinating until the last minute and writing
about the weather.
I
n less than five months a majority of the
CVC Board will be replaced by upcoming
elections.
After serving since December 2012 as your
President, I believe doing this job for one year is a
snap and serving the maximum two-year term is
just about right. One of you out there in CVC
land is about to get your turn at bat.
The position deals with a lot of leadership issues,
but five of the most important tasks include: 1)
running the general meeting, 2) chairing the
monthly board meeting, 3) writing a monthly
message for the newsletter, 4) trying to go on as
many runs as possible to support the club and 5)
planning the annual President’s Mystery Run.
Each month the President is tasked with
producing, in my opinion, an efficient meeting by
staying on point and not getting bogged down on
a particular subject. You don’t have to be a
stand-up comic, but rather like an Ed Sullivan
type that introduces one segment after another
and keeps the pace of the evening lively. Board
meetings are much more informal, but in each
case you follow an agenda and keep things from
drifting off course. Each month you have to
come up with a 500 word report for the
newsletter. I found it helpful to sit down and pen
several topics in advance, sometimes five and six
It is probably these tasks (general meeting,
board meeting & newsletter item) that become
sort of a grind by the latter stages of the second
year. Things like vacations and special events
have to be shuffled around to accommodate
your commitment. Topics for the newsletter
are more difficult after twenty editions. This is
not a complaint by any means. It just reinforces
my point earlier in the article that after two
years, it is time for someone else to take the
reins.
The mystery runs are fun to put together. It is
interesting to see how the trip unfolds when
only a couple of people know what each day will
bring. On the other hand it can be a bit
stressful, because people are plunking down
good money they might not have signed up for
if they knew in advance what the itinerary was.
The mystery run is also challenging because
after twenty-three years, where have we not
gone over a long weekend in the state of
California? That was one reason I decided to
shake things up and go for five days. I believe
all of you that are going are in for a great time.
It is my hope that by writing this article, more
members will entertain the idea of running for
President. As I mentioned earlier, doing this for
a year is no big deal. But at the end of two
years you will probably no doubt be looking to
hand the responsibilities off to someone else.

ballots to eligible voters for our prospective new
members.
Lupe Dawson, Sergeant at Arms collected $1.50.

news from our members.

General Meeting Minutes
July 15, 2014
President Craig Hansen called the General
Meeting to order at 6:42pm.
The minutes from the June general meeting
were read by Kim Fosnaugh. Ruthie Danielsen
made a motion to accept the minutes as read
which was seconded by Chuck Hall.
Treasurer Fred Parks gave the Treasurer’s
report. There were no questions.
Membership Chairman, Charlie Fosnaugh
noted we have 82 current members and had
Skip Severance reintroduce Lynn & Mike
Henenfent and Lorraine & Glenn Henderson
who are up for membership vote. Charlie then
had Chuck Hall reintroduce Lee Baumgarten
who was attending his second meeting.
Skip Severance, Vice President of Public
Relations reviewed the July Birthdays and
Anniversaries and important happenings on
their dates.
Pam Hansen, Vice President of Activities had
run leaders report on their pervious runs of
the Word from Home Car Show which had
twice as many cars as last year, and the
Snelling Car show where Charlotte Renna,
Andy & Connie Anderson and Patrick &
Patricia Garrahan won awards for their cars.
Upcoming runs of, Shaver Lake Car show,
movie day, Domino Day, Day at the race track,
Pizza Party, Firebaugh Queen Haul and
Presidents Mystery Run were discussed.
Old Business:
Craig Hansen noted that members signed up to
attend the Presidents Mystery Run have all paid
the first 50% due with some having paid 100%.
Those owing the remaining 50% must do so by
the August meeting.
New Business:
Charlie Fosnaugh announced the positive results
of the vote for membership for the Henenfent’s
and Henderson’s and welcomed them as new
members. Both couples were brought forward
and their sponsors, Leigh Ann & Skip Severance
presented them with CVC tote bags and name
badges.
Craig Hansen asked the membership to vote by
show of hands for approval to purchase a new
public address system since our current system
stopped working. The vote was positive and Craig
will research and purchase a replacement system
before the next meeting.
The next Board meeting will be held July 22nd at
the Parks’.
The next General meeting will be August 19th.
John Bird motioned to adjourn the meeting and
was seconded by Ed Kroeker.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:18 pm

1. FROM SKIP AND LEIGH ANN – THEY HAVE INTERESTING NEWS REGARDING THEIR
GRANDSON, COLBY SEVERANCE. COLBY WILL BE ON HIS NEW TV SHOW SATURDAY
THE 26TH OF JULY AT 08:00PM ON THE NICKELODEAN CHANNEL. IT IS CHANNEL 1315 IF
YOU HAVE ATT U-VERSE. THE SHOW IS CALLED “HENRY DANGER”, A CHILDREN’S
SHOW. WHEN HENRY FLASHES BACK TO WHEN HE WAS A YOUNGSTER, THAT IS THE
PART THAT COLBY PLAYS. NOT TOO SURE HOW LONG HIS PART WILL BE BUT WE ARE
LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING HIM ON HIS FIRST TV SHOW.
2. IT IS CIRCUS TIME. FOR THE 28TH YEAR I ATTENDED THE CIRCUSE WITH GRANDSON
KEVEN. WHEN HE WAS ALMOST 2, JOYCE TOOK HIM TO HIS FIRST CIRCUS. KEVEN
SAID “WHEN I GET A DRIVERS LICENSE, I WILL PICK YOU UP FOR THE CIRCUS. HE DID
JUST THAT AND THE REST IS HISTORY. WE NOW HAVE GROWN IN NUMBERS, WE HAD
HIS WIFE AND 2 GIRLS; MADISON IS ONLY 9 WEEKS OLD. OUR GRANDDAUGHTERS
AND THEIR KIDS VISIT THE CIRCUS. WITH OUR DAUGHTER JILL, HER 3 THEIR 7
CHILDREN WE ARE UP TO 4 GENERATIONS ATTENDING THE ANNUAL CIRCUS. LOVE
IT!!!
3. AND FROM ANDY ANDERSON: CONNIE AND I ARE GOING TO BE GRAND GRAND
PARENTS IN JANUARY. CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU BOTH. THAT IS WONDERFUL.
4. AND NOW NEWS FROM THE HALLS…CHUCK AND SHARON ARE TRAVELING TO COER
D ALENE, IDAHO FOR CHUCK’S 50TH HIGH SCHOOL REUNION ON AUGUST 1.
REMINDER; THE OLD GIRLFRIEND AND OLD BOYFRIEND ARE NOW OLD! ONLY THE
MEMORIES STAY YOUNG.

5. CHARLIE AND KIM FOSNAUGH ARE DEFINITELY TRYING TO BEAT THE HEAT. THEY
SPENT THE 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND IN SAN FRANCISCO TO COOL OFF. IT WAS COOL
THAT IS ALL FOR NOW. OF COURSE, WILL BE SENDING OUT ANOTHER MESSAGE NEXT MONTH
ALL RIGHT. IT WAS SO COOL THEY BOTH HAD TO BUY COATS. THEY TOOK A DINNER
ASKING FOR MORE NEWS FROM YOU ALL.
CRUISE ON A YACHT IN THE BAY TO WATCH THE FIREWORKS. THE FIREWORKS WERE
SO BEAUTIFUL AND VERY DIFFERENT SINCE THERE WAS SO MUCH FOG THAT YOU
COULD ONLY SEE THE BOTTOM HALF OF THE FIREWORKS AND THE OTHER HALF
WOULD ILLUMINATE THE FOG IN COLORS.
6. SHARON CONDLEY HAS JUST STARTED A PART TIME JOB IN SALES AT HER FAVORITE
WOMEN’S BOUTIQUE LOCATED IN FIG GARDEN VILLAGES. THE POSITION IS WITH
SOMA INTIMATES. SHARON WAS FORCED INTO “EARLY RETIREMENT” FROM HER
POSITION WITH AETNA INSURANCE. THE LOSS OF HER JOB WAS A HUGE LOSS FOR
HER THUS SHE HAD A GREAT DEAL OF TIME GRIEVING. SHE DECIDED TO TRY
SOMETHING DIFFERENT – SHE IS NOW PLANTING A NEW SEED AND GROWING AT
THE PROSPECT OF WHERE THIS WILL TAKE HER. SHARON IS EXCITED ABOUT HER
NEW CAREER AND ALL OF US AT CVC WISH HER WELL.
7. JILL KROEKER AND HER DEMOLITION COMPANY RECENTLY DEMOLISHED THE OLD
HOLLYWOOD INN ON MOTEL DRIVE. THIS IS ONE OF MANY BUILDINGS THAT WILL
BE RAZED TO MAKE WAY FOR THE HIGH SPEED RAILWAY. THE KROEKER COMPANY
IS THE OFFICIAL DEMOLITION COMPANY FOR THE HIH SPEED RAILWAY. ONE OF THE
BIGGEST CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS IN STATE HISTOR IS NOW UNDERWAY.
8. JAN AND GARY PFLEPSEN INCLUDING DALE AND SUSAN COMER, HAVE JUST
RECENTLY DROVE TO LOS ANGELES TO WATCH THE DODGERS. GARY OBTAINED
THE TICKETS FOR 4 AT A SILENT AUTION. THE TICKETS REMAINED ON THE AUCTION
ALL EVENING WITH NO BIDS. NO ONE WAS INTERESTED IN PURCHASING THE
TICKETS. IT SEEMS THE TICKETS WERE DONATED BY A LARGE COMPANY WHILE NO
ONE KNEW THE VALUE OF THE TICKETS. THE COMERS AND PFLEPSENS DROVE TO
DODGER STADIUM. THE TICKETS PROVED TO BE VERY COSTLY – WE HAD VIP
PARKING, ACCESS T0 THE DODGR STADIUM CLUB AND SEATS THAT WERE DIRECTLY
BEHIND THE CATCHER WITH OVERHEAD SHADE PROTECTING US FROM THE SUN.
SOOOOOO, A LOT OF PEOPLE LOST OUT ON SOME VERY SPECIAL BASEBALL TICKETS.
THAT IS ALL FOR NOW. OF COURSE, I WILL BE SENDING OUT ANOTHER MESSAGE

CVC day at MB2 Race Track
Located at the east end of
The Sierra Vista Mall in the
Old Gottschalks
We will meet September 3 rd at noon at the east entrance to
the Race Track. The actual race will take less than 10 minutes.
10 racers will be able to race at the same time. Depending on
how many show up to race, it could take about 30 minutes for
all of us to race. Following the race we will walk over, if you
are able after racing, to Good Times for lunch.
The cost to race is $23 per person. If you have a full face
helmet, with face shield, you might want to bring it. If you
haven’t signed up yet, please do so at the next meeting.

2014 Presidents Mystery Run
Hear ye! Hear ye!
Central Valley Corvette Club
Thou art invited to the 2014 President’s Mystery Run
Monday September 29th - Friday October 3 rd .
We the people shall travel to an undisclosed location.
We shall leave early 9/29 at 6:15 a.m.
Be well fed and groomed because the ride is a long one.
Dress is casual, hot and cold.
Bring walking shoes , swim suit and sunscreen
plus an umbrella and rain coat.
We shall meet at the Chevron Station at 99 & Ave 7,
a few miles north of Herndon.
