Sharing Your Faith

Say yes to teaching;

say yes to God

Being a catechist is a

growing experience and

responsibility. While you, like

the Apostles chosen by Jesus

Christ, sometimes may feel

unprepared, know that being

a catechist is an ongoing

journey in faith. It is a time

to learn more about the

Catholic faith and to develop

the confidence and skills to

share your faith with

children, family, and friends.

Remember, when you share your faith with

students, you can take advantage of the

opportunity God creates for you to learn.

Religious Education registration begins in June.

Therefore, the Home-site Program needs to be

organized as soon as possible. If you are

interested in teaching a class in your home,

teaching in a host home, or offering your home as

a host home, please call the Religious Education

Office at 724-776-9177 ext 308 or email

bunny@stferd.org.

This Thursday evening, May 6, Fr. Scott

Seethaler will be here for an evening of reflection.

No Vacation Bible School this summer

The Religious Education Office is in the process of

several changes. Clara Kana, the director, has resigned

due to medical reasons, and Linda the receptionist/

secretary has been transferred to the Rectory Office.

The new director and secretary will not begin until July.

Unfortunately, because of these changes, there will be

no Vacation Bible School this year.

Knights of Columbus Living Rosary

The Fr. Joseph P. Newell Knights of Columbus

Council 11838 will offer the Living Rosary, to celebrate

the Blessed Virgin Mary, Monday, May 3, at 7:00 pm

of a huge rosary in their hand and they become a

“Living Rosary” with each other. All parishioners are

invited and encouraged to come and participate in this

prayerful celebration. For more information, please call

the Adult Education Office at 724.776.1357.

Religious Education, has resigned

due to health reasons. She has

the students and teachers of the

Religious Education Program at

St. Ferdinand.

All parishioners are invited to

a farewell gathering on Tuesday,

May 11, from 7:00-9:00 pm in Oldenski Hall, for

an opportunity to express gratitude and offer Clara

well wishes.

Spring Cleaning

It’s Spring Cleaning time! If you or someone you

know have “gently used” or new items that are no

them to our wonderful White Elephant Sale for

St. Ferdinand’s festival. We ask that items be clean and

that pieces are packaged together. Please indicate the

type and size of linens and attach to the piece. Sorry,

we cannot accept clothing, shoes, refrigerators, fuel

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

On Saturday, April 24, and May 1 the following

children received the Body and Blood of Christ, for

the first time, in the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Jesus, You got rid of everything that comes between

us and God, and then you and the Father sent the

Holy Spirit so we could know you, live for you,

and do your work so we can see heaven on earth.

Thank you Holy Spirit for giving us life.

Come and live in us, spread your gifts

and make us like Jesus. That’s why we celebrate;

That’s why we have this meal to worship Jesus,

and remind ourselves what he’s done for us.
