limm PREMIERE
J^ONTANA citizens went all out in making the state's first
world premiere a statewide success. The occasion was
the first showing of Warners' "Montana" at Helena January 10.
Alexis Smith, David Brian, Adrian Booth, Ian MacDonald (a
home state boy) and Alan Hale were on hand for the festivities
Hundreds of home folks dressed in early day costumes. There
was a statewide contest to select a queen, with the finals on
the stage of the Marlow Theatre. The
press, all the way from Salt Lake
City, put out special editions. Tieins
of every type were utilized. Governor
John Bonner, shown at the left,
proclaimed "Montana Day" throughout
the state and visiting stars were
all made honorary citizens. All in
all, it was a great day for Warners
and the hometowers. By showtime,
the theatre was jammed to capacity
—with all seats sold hours before.
