Much more than a photo ...
Whenever we work on a new edition we are trying to gather
the best of the models, the musical talent of great artists, the
special diets of our Chef, the designer, and of course the
photography.
In LATIN AMERICAN MODEL we have a special place to those
who make wonderful productions and who highlight the image
of what they are capturing with their lens.
I want to thank all the photographers in this edition. A special
work was created in Medellin, Colombia with the model Erika
Oviedo and the photographer Vlacho Alvarez. This production
is called "The Fifth Element". A likewise production happened in
Bogotá, where the warehouse “Disfraces El Reino Mágico”
prepared special costumes for the Halloween performance with
the photographer Christian Hard and the models Katerin Ayala
and Vivi Zambrano.
Our cover with Gloria Estefan who has given us a little time to
share with us her new musical production. Thanks to Andrés
Reina for his photographic support.
Thanks to the whole team as always for their unconditional
support and passion. Thanks to all the people who are part of
this edition, to Sony Music, to the press chiefs, to the columnists,
journalists, designers, editors, to the National Beauty Pageant of
Bambuco Caribe and to you, our loyal readers and friends.
Thank you,
Colombian Model conquers the world.
The Mexican edition of the
prestigious magazine Maxim's
chose her among the 100
sexiest women on the planet.
She was on the cover of Vogue
(Brazil), Maxim's (Mexico), Elle
(Brazil), GQ (USA) and AUDI
(Germany).
Model of Haute Couture for Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Louis
Vuitton, Versace, Roberto Cavali, Calvin Klein and Gucci,
among others. The Mexican edition of the prestigious magazine
Maxim's chose her among the 100 sexiest women on the
planet. She was on the cover of Vogue (Brazil), Maxim's
(Mexico), Elle (Brazil), GQ (USA) and AUDI (Germany). In
2008, she presented one of the MTV awards together with the
rock icon of the eighties, Gene Simmons.
Since 2010 became Isabella the main image of
DANIEL PORTO, one of the major clothing lines in
the world that dresses international artists and
socialites like Tenor Plácido Domingo, Cher, Paris
Hilton, among others. A contract that has allowed
her to travel around the world: Dubai, Bahrain,
Qatar, Abu Dhabi, Mexico, Bolivia and Chile among
others.
In 2012, she ventured into the film with a short role in the movie
"Olvidados", where she made the experience that she love it so
much that she is currently filming a new movie production
called "El Cuarto" where she acts the part of the antagonist.
The shooting is taking place in Bolivia but the production is
Argentine.
She has not only success in her profession but also in her
private life; Isabella became the mother of Vittorio, a beautiful
baby of 13 months of age. Currently, Bernal shares her
mother's role with that of a model, actress and entrepreneur -
working on the creation of a line of body lotions – and as if it
would be nothing, she is also a DJ of electronic music.
So the projects will continue and one of the strongest is to get
in on the Colombian market and to achieve the same success
in the country where she is born as she has had abroad. After
all, who said that you cannot be a prophet in your own land? ...
It is Barranquilla, and
like every woman who is
born and raised at the
seaside and by the
Caribbean river she has
something as they say at
the coast: flavor, body &
color.
She lived, studied and
started her modeling
career in her native
country; at that time she
was the sensational
model of agencies,
commercials, magazines
and great brands.
She was several times
cover of the journal
Miércoles (printed
medium in Barranquilla);
was Chica Águila and
participated in big
fashion events of the
country like
Colombiamoda. She
modeled for large
brands, among them is
Leonisa, bathrooms
dresses, Beverly Hills;
and she was mannequin
of great designers like
Francesca Miranda,
Carmen Belisa Martinez,
Lina Cantillo, among
many others.
She always had been admired for her beautiful figure, invigorated
and well-kept body. Without doubt, she has one of the best
bodies of the Caribbean coast and although her beginnings in
modeling were at an early age (8 years), it wasn’t difficult for her
to earn her place in the complicated world of modeling.
She still remembers how it all began.
"I remember that I was skating - a sport I practiced for many
years - when a photographer, who was looking for a girl for the
cover of a magazine, took notice of me. He made the photos of
me under the prior authorization of my parents and the results
were very good, so good that I was enrolled in an important
agency of the city for studying glamor and modeling. Since then,
thank God I have not stopped getting contracts for being the
image of several brands." says Isabella.
After finishing her professional career – Journalism of Social
Communication with emphasis in Organizational
Communication at the University Autónoma del Caribe - Isabella
undertook a trip to Bogota, the city that gave her many
opportunities and which served her as a springboard for the
travel to Mexico. In these moments she was hired by the Maxim
Magazine of the publishing house Televisa, for starting several
projects.
It always was
clear that she will
have a big career,
so she could not
choose a better
scenario than the
Mexican market,
the important
platform of the
Latin
entertainment and
promoter of great
talents for the
international
market.
The model wasn’t
wrong, and
although it was
difficult so much
demanding in the
Mexican market,
Isabella was
climbing little by
little, her strongest
weapons were
discipline,
perseverance and
of course her
perfect body,
invigorated and
very healthy.

Guillermo said he would spare no efforts to carry our brandnew
LATINAMERICANMODEL - How did start your penchant for
photography?
ANDRES REINA I liked the photography since my childhood, but
it was in the University where I learned to really love it. Clemencia
Poveda, director of the department of photography of the
Javeriana University, taught me to consider photography as an art
that caught my artistic essence (my passion for different technical
drawing, sculpture and design). After six semesters I decided to
retire from the University for concentrating to this very special art!
Pardo
L.A.M. - Do you remember your first photographic work?
A. R. It was for a school project and I used a manual camera
with a 35mm film. I took pictures of my school (St. Bartolomé la
merced) and then I went to Villa de Leiva and took pictures of
everything I loved to capture what crossed my lens. Although it
should be mentioned that I made my first job for a magazine with
the actress Martha Liliana Ruiz, her change was recently
extreme and I had the honor to appear with her photographs that
later were published in several national media.
Santamaría
Fotografía
Andres Reina A.
L.A.M. – What is behind a fashion photographer?
A. R. There is creativity in action; there are colors, textures, action
of light and intellectual games that are reflected in the image.
There is a constant search for an own style (When I hate
something, it is copying, when they say this photo is equal to that
image by photographer x or y) There is a production team for the
fashion, dressing tables, but also there is a personal creative
process.
L.A.M. – What do you think is most important in the photography and
why: Eyes, team or technique?
AR-The most important thing is to be an artist, it is useless to have
many teams when you don’t have good conceptions that make a work
unique.
L.A.M. - How do you see yourself in a few years?
AR-I see myself doing my job leaving footprints in my country, so that
many generations will know my work and that I can leave something
of interest. This is just the beginning of all the blessings I receive from
God for carrying my work to everybody. I do much conceptual artwork;
selling the artistic photography in galleries, doing exhibition with a
social function and continuing with my creative process in fashion and
in the world of theatre.
L.A.M. – Which meaning has the word PHOTOGRAPHY to you?
A. R. - A UNIQUE AND UNREPEATABLE INSTANT as Henry Cartier
Bresson says, it is THE DECISIVE MOMENT
L.A.M. Andrés, you have many successes in what you do, but what do
you think has been your best work?
A. R. Everything is my best work, for me is each picture unique, each
person who crosses my lens, writes history, set emotions,
experiences. No matter whether it is a family, or someone who wants
to have some photos for looking good, or whether it is a singer, an
actor or a model! It’s a question of passion what I do and I put a lot of
love into my job to see the final art.
Rincón
L.A.M. What do
you like most
about your job?
A. R. I like to be
connected with
people, to learn
from every
person, to
travel... there
are so many
things I like
about my job,
indeed, I think
it's not a job, it's
a gift that life
gives me to
enjoy and to
share the talent
that I have
(humility is not
just to duck the
head) but it is to
recognize when
you have
talents and
abilities given by God which shall be served for the others.
L.A.M. What is the goal of your career?
A. R. To have an impact on my work, from my personal area.It is
constantly in motion, my imagination and my reflection, what I
feel, what I like, it causes emotions in people who see my work,
from the most erotic to the most tender, going through the
sensitive, friendly, funny and so many other points.
ROMEO
SANTOS
M
iami, FL (September, 2013). – The King of Bachata, Romeo
Santos, releases the video for his hit single " Propuesta
Indecente." Filmed in Buenos Aires, Argentina starring actress
Eiza Gonzalez. The shooting took two days on the staircase of
the National Library of Buenos Aires and in the San Miguel Palace.
With over 50 extras on the scene, this video was filmed with the latest
technology.
Produced by Vergin Films and directed by Joaquín Cambre, this video
used the technique "Che Revolution Post" which was commissioned to
make a total of 70 seconds on rotoscoping frame by frame for attaining
the combination of black / white and color in a work which took over 16
working days, with a high-level photography which was conducted by
Nicolás Trovato.
The video shows how a desire at first sight can lead to an "Indecent
Proposal." With very sensual images, Romeo Santos and Eiza
González will make this "Indecent Proposal" to their favorite video.
The song "Indecent Proposal" debuted # 1 in digital sales, # 1 in
Mexico and is one of the most requested songs on the radio of Puerto
Rico and the United States.
P
ropuesta Indecente was produced and written by Romeo
Santos and talks about everything that can happen when you
combine seduction, cup sizes and mischief: "an adventure is
more fun if you smell danger," sings The King of Bachata in this
topic. Continuing his gift to use memorable titles for his songs,
Romeo Santos raises the temperature of this new success with
the promise that very soon will follow his next album, the highly
anticipated "Formula Vol. 2".
More about Romeo Santos:
LATIN AMERICAN MODEL2013
Water is the opposite of fire. Water keeps us alive, quenches
our thirst and cleanses us. In its melancholic way it makes
sure that life grows and prospers in our world. But: too much
water might be fatal and often causes inundations and
tsunamis with major disasters.
Feature: Cold and wet
Elemental Creature: Undine
Orientation: West
Zodiac: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces
Regular Figure: Icosahedron
Temperament: Melancholy
Earth is an element that gives us a solid foundation. We
build our houses on earth. The Earth is ubiquitous and
always gives us the fixed fundament we need. Sometimes
the earth quakes and forms cracks and let buildings
collapse. But without earth we could not live a solid life.
Feature: Cold and dry
Elemental Creature: Gnomes
Orientation: North
Zodiac: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
Regular Figure: Dado
Temperament: Phlegmatic
We need air to breathe. It is the air that animates us and gently
caresses the skin. It can turn into a fury and destroy our homes
and our lives when it blusters as a hurricane over us. But the air is
essential for life because it is she who carries our words and who
conveys our senses.
Feature: Hot and wet
Elemental Creature: Sylphs
Orientation: East
Zodiac: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius
Regular Figure: Octahedron
Temperament: Sanguineo
The fire warms us; it
gives us light and
makes sure that we
can eat warm meal.
But careful, too
much fire is deadly.
Its choleric nature
erupts again and
again, so like
volcanic eruptions
and forest fires. But
after each disaster
the fertility comes
back, a new life is
born and the
calmed fire donates
its heat and light.
Feature: Hot and dry
Elemental Creatures:
Salamanders
Orientation: South
Zodiac: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius
Regular Figure: Tetrahedron
Temperament: Choleric
She unifies the four
elements in herself.
The features and the
temperaments are
particularly inside
the woman. And so
it is not surprising
that in ancient times
women are
represented as a
symbol of fertility
which has taken the
role of Gaia…
"Gaia, the Great
Mother Earth, the first
goddess, the
parturient, the
paramour and the
sovereign over all
elements, the donor
of life."
Elegance and beauty, grace and brilliance come from her. She
dominates the world, not the male. But beware: Withal wisdom
and gentleness there also can develop a major catastrophe, as
Paris painfully had to learn when he determined the most
beautiful among Hera, Athena and Aphrodite.
His name is Vladimir Alvarez A but this name might not be
wellknown in the media. In the fashion magazines, in the
websites of the graphic designer and in the advertising
marketing, everybody speak about VLACHO, the talented
photographer, born in Medellin on 30 of May 1982; who
takes his artistic name from the abbreviated version of his
real name. He says that the people call him that since they
get to know him. It was before when this pseudonym took a
big impact in his life which led him to consolidate it on the
logo of his professional brand.
Among his field of activity and favorite passion are sports,
especially basketball, the world of fantasy, technology,
cyber aesthetics, anime, video games, 3D animation, color
and trends, all in all the vanguard.
There were these impulses which generated in “VLACHO”
very early at the age of ten years the initiative to study
drawing and systems, increasing his affinity for more new
communication systems and the MASS MEDIA.
After finishing his secondary education, he started studying
digital graphic design in an excellent institution in the city,
completed this, made career in the advertising and
marketing field using this all for the professional
photography studies at the Institute of Fine Arts in Medellin.
His interest in graphics and computer networks has
motivated him to continue preparing with the assistance of
seminars and conferences on these issues.
Holding a chair during three years in Digital Graphic Design,
Photography and Artistic Drawing in an institution of the city of
Medellin, he was strengthening this knowledge he already had
on the issues. His remarkable talent ensured that the demand
for his work increased, and that he would be known in the
graphic and subtle medias and in the changing fashion world;
his skill made that his talent is still reaching excellent aesthetic
centers in the city, and everybody who is in need of graphic
design.
With his thirty years, he is considering himself as a person who
is satisfied with that what he has done and carried out. This is
perhaps a key to the success, when people are having
happiness in their professions; they are more open as the muse
of inspiration they see. He still thinks that there is much lacking
and he feels that he is on a way of constant learning in the world
of photography, where every moment and every space
provokes a feeling and a different sense in the eyes of the
photographers and depending on their sensitivity the ability to
record and respond with the same intensity that you consider.
He is grateful to the people who have supported him from the
beginning and to those who spend a little time that allows him to
do his profession, as there are his family and his friends.
Thanks to the maestros of the streets it gives him a special
merit in his training as a professional.
He has his own studio since six years, where he is spending his
days between cameras, lights, canvas and design programs, it
has become a creative niche where are circulated concepts,
ideas and techniques. He is always giving the best of himself
and he covers all expectations and details that the customer
needs. For this he is putting much more requirement in his work
and he is doing it with pleasant because perfection cannot be
achieved in a single day, according to the popular adage "Rome
was not built in one day".
He enjoys advising new talents in their development as
professionals because he always remembers that he also was
there and he got a hand when he needed it.
There are many goals that this
young photographer from the
northwest side of Colombian is
lacking, but he believes in his
talent and discipline, in the help
of God, his family and friends
who will bring him to be perfect.
HOW TO GET IT?
Arms, buttocks and abs
should keep contracted to
have the body aligned for
performing the technique
and for invigorating and
modeling muscles and
figure. The muscles are
constantly working when
they must hold the weight
of the body on the bar
meanwhile they are
learning new moves and
choreographies. So they
invigorate and generate
strength and fitness.
There is no age limit. To
be practiced in
comfortable clothes,
barefoot, special heels or
soft baletas.

Zambrano
Born on 10 of July 1990 in Bogota, although she is “cachaca”
as she says; in her veins is caldense blood from her mother
and Santander blood from her father. At the age of 4 she
started to go to school, her father always instilled in her the
affection in studying and learning, so Vivi studied in a school
leading by nuns, why she is thankful to her parents. She had a
wonderful childhood, and despite she was the only daughter,
she was always surrounded by cousins who made that their
pranks were all an odyssey. As a child she dreamed of being a
singer, moderator, model and even stylist. For this latest
profession, Vivi practiced with her cousins making very peculiar
cuts for which reason they got a scolding from her mom.
When she was 12 years old, she discovered her love for music,
so she asked her father for a guitar so that she can take
classes. When she was 13, she was completely in love with
Rock and Roll, her favorites bands ranged from THE BEATLES
to SYSTEM OF A DOWN. It was when her dreams changed
tending to form a rock band and be a Rock Star. It was the time
when she belonged to a band called QUIMERA where she was
the vocalist. it was a great experience for her, they didn’t
became Rock Stars, but it was a very happy time. When she
attended the last high school years, she began to decide for a
career she really wanted to study, and it was that moment
when she starts with Fashion Design. Unfortunately she had to
adjourn her career due to an economic family crisis. She
already had been in her last class, when a professor of art
invited her to take classes in Body Painting. There she met
Raul who proposed her to start working as a model for his
agency ArtModels. Thus she began her job as a model, posing
for artistic photos, and then she worked as a protocol model
and which was the beginning of her modeling career.

Currently she is
Bambuco Caribe
The Colombian folklore has manifold variations based on real or
magical elements that are deep-seated in the soul of the people
and that are so unique that the regions afford to identify
themselves by colors, costumes, music, dance and rhythm:
“El Guaneña” of the department of Nariño; “el Currulao” in the area
of Cauca, Valle del Cauca and Choco; “El Pasillo” in Caldas, “El
Fandango” in Monteria; “El Joropo” in the region of los Llanos; “El
Bambuco” in Tolima Grande (Huila, taken as its own and Ibague
cultivated it); “La Cumbia” in Magdalena, (Depresión Momposina,
with some variations in Barranquilla and Valledupar), “El
Vallenato” in Caesar; “El Torbellino” in Santander; “El Guabina” in
Boyacá etc.. Norte de Santander lacks own rhythms and its lyrics
follows the ones of Bambucos (Ocañerita, Brisas del Pamplonita)
and other melodies, although its history and present is full of
composers and compositions.
Special thanks to Charlot Izako Mustafa and Productions Charlot
for the perfect organization of the event.
The Magdalena River which is flowing to the sea, passes the
iridescent shore of the riparian delighted villages and
amphibious cultures recreated by Fals Borda, plays in “El
Banco” rocking the most gorgeous establishing river that one
can imagine and that serves the scene at the Imperialato
Nacional de la Cumbia, since years directed by Veruschka
Barros, daughter of the author of the Piragua.
I have been closely linked to the Festival as jury or orator for
several years, and during the XXVIII version in 2012, the
Viceroyalty was taken by the ocañera Nadya Jacome, who
danced the Machetilla with an impeccable choreography of
Juan Carlos Parra, identified as a dance of Norte de
Santander, but I was dissatisfied with the movement of the
shoulders and the sway of the machetes, the first because it
appears to me a detracted elegance and second because it
evokes violence, then I wanted them to submit a new proposal.
Isabel Cristina Salas
Height: 175 cm
I wrote ten letters, I chose "promesa de morena Luna" and I
confined the project to the area of the old province of Ocaña,
formed by 29 municipalities that today belong to the south of
Cesar, south of Bolivar, part of Magdalena and northeastern
Norte de Santander, where exist ethnic and sociocultural affinities
and regional economic interests.
The research of anthropologist Reichel-Dolmatoff concluded that
the population of the region doesn’t belong to the indigenous
family of Chibcha but to the Caribbean, but now living in the
mountains, we are influenced by the Andean rhythms, so I looked
for a bambuco to characterize the elegance of the ocañeros and
a fandango to express its happiness. Making a tribute to
bambuco and our Aborigines, baptized the project as Bambuco
Caribe and so is called the rhythm, which Juan Carlos Vergel
later baptized as Fanduco.

I hired two professionals: Saúl Pacheco Ropero and Juan Carlos
Vergel so they join together.
When it was the first demo on bass, guitar and treble guitar, I
hired the maestro Raul Rosero Polo, recognized this year at the
“Festival Nacional de Música Colombiana, one of the most
important folclorólogos, to be the musical director of the project.
Costumes and choreography
The costume design was made by SENA Ocaña, under the
direction of Samira Paredes, winner of the International Design
Award in Germany, with extensive experience and knowledge of
the theory of clothing. The chosen colors were those of the flag
of Ocaña, green and white, and orange representing the burning
barbatusca. The choreography, performed by the group Brisas
de Torcoroma, directed by Luis Eduardo Perez and Yamile
Bayonne, can be seen at the following link:
The official interpretation is the one with the voice of Aurita Perez,
but there are two equally beautiful versions in the voices of Laura
Ibañez and Rosita Rangel.
With support from the Minister of Culture, Mariana Garcés and
from the Mayor Jesús Antonio Sánchez Clavijo, this new rhythm
was the basis for the organization of the Primer Festival and
Reinado Nacional del Bambuco Caribe, which was held in Ocaña
during the “semana de la Fraternidad” (week of the fraternity), from
28 of June to 1 of July, 2013. Bambuco Caribe evokes the
Andean-Caribbean hybrid that characterizes the Ocañeros and
which manifests itself in the elegance and finesse of Bambuco and
the happiness of Fandango.

Medellin,
Colombia on 30
of July 1990, is
tending to the
world of
modeling from
an early age;
this beautiful
girl from the
paisa region
always is
visualizing as a
professional
supermodel
and beauty
queen. Due to
the job of her
mother she
spent her early
childhood
together with
her mother and
brother in
different
villages of
Antioquia
territory.
She was always a very independent woman and an
entrepreneur; in her childhood she liked to work for buying her
own clothes and Barbie dolls, which she clothed and combed
like some famous professional models.
Academically she is characterized by being a good student
occupying the top of her class; she is also very athletic,
playing soccer and softball, practicing swimming and
gymnastics. She is always distinguished by her creativity
and spontaneity. She made her first steps in modeling at
the age of 15 being the advertising image of the
photographic agency of a friend, who constantly motivated
her to continue modeling.
Despite being part
of her dream,
Modeling has taken
a back seat when
she entered the
Colombian Civil
Defense as a
lifeguard and she
dedicated to share
her free time for
helping and to give
herself the best for
the community.
After having
obtained her
baccalaureate, she
began to study
journalism and
social
communication.
Therefore she
adjourned her
commitment at the
Civil Defense. At
the age of 19 she
started her career
as psychologist
and a new stage in
her life began as
mother and
psychologist.

MODEL...
Salomé
Cardona
Model Jr.
During her pregnancy she took up again the modeling, and 9
months after the birth she began to involve her daughter into
this circle... by introducing her at the academies for child
models.
After 8 semesters of psychology and now focused on her
career as a model, she decides to study fashion design and
sets the personal and professional goal to create her own
brand for women and children, inspired by her daughter, in
who she reflects herself and to whom she always wants the
best.
She is a very adventurous woman who loves
starting new projects and who faces up to
the challenges that are imposing her multiple
works day by day. She is considered as a
very affable, intelligent, extroverted and
agreeable person. Her biggest weakness is
impatience, that’s why she is very impulsive
and which is the reason why she has
delayed some activities. This versatile young
model, student, entrepreneur and mother, is
not satisfied with the illusion of being a
queen; currently, she is preparing to present
Colombia in an international beauty contest.
She is fighting every day for her dreams and
for helping to make true the dreams of the
people around her.

“ENTRE NOSOTROS" NEW PROMOTIONAL SINGLE AND
VIDEO OF RAKEL
RAKEL PARTICIPATED IN RELEASE
OF THE NEW DVD OF THE COLOMBIAN
SINGER-SONGWRITER SEBASTIAN YEPES
September 17, 2013, Miami, Fl.)- At the
past 15 of August was in Bogota realized
the official release of the DVD 'Dulce
Tour-On En Vivo' of Sebastian Yepes.
The Live-DVD was recorded on 25 of September 2012 in
Bogota, coincidentally at the same day when Rakel received
the news of her nomination for the Latin Grammy 2012 for her
video 'En El Tiempo'.
For the presentation, Rakel was invited to perform a duet with
the Colombian singer (former member of Sanalejo) the song
'Entre Nosotros", a song, written by Sebastián, which included
the singer from the paisa region on her first album Miracles
Organic.
'Entre Nosotros' captured live an unforgettable collaboration
between two talented artists, a good reason for choosing
this as a new single and video to promote Rakel.
In this live recorded video clip is appreciated another facet
of Rakel, which perceived the connection between the artist
and the song and the feeling with which both singers
perform this topic.
Healthy Cooking with our Chef
Jorge Enrique Martínez
ith great concern we see every day
how the technical development
and the speed of our modern world
and our life doesn’t allow us to eat healthy;
only in the U. S. the people consume Junk
Food for about $ 25.000.000.000.00!
These highly industrialized products contain
preservatives that are in many cases
unhealthy. And this is the reason why it is
very important to be very careful about the
food we eat; therefore my advice is as
follows:
We can use fresh and hopefully organic
products (natural products made with clean
technology, no chemicals; which is
(distinctive in that these products have the natural flavor, fresh and
which such a beauty that stimulates our senses; remember, if
processed foods are so rich and look so good, it is because of the
following: they are decorated by sophisticated packaging and in
many cases they are filled with ingredients in excessive quantities
to enhance the flavor, the candies and goodies are really sweet and
full of calories until heaven, artificial colors, salt, refined flour which
in any case is not very good for health).
Well, the idea of this section is to talk about healthy cooking not to
speak bad about food, but in some moments we will touch this kind
of topic to be clear what we should eat and what not.
calculated. Look at the palm of your hand, the food must be equal
to the palm of your hand and the amount of the daily calories
should not exceed 1,500 calories.
To make it clear, it’s always good to speak with your doctor and a
professional nutritionist in every single case. For example every
person is consuming these calories in a different manner;
depending on the metabolism, physical activity, kind of work, and
finally the region where we live. There are many variants we have
to consider when we are consuming our healthy eating and
particularly we don’t have to talk only about calories, nutrients,
flavor, everything is important to eat.
I love it to imagine cooking or consuming my food because they
are an ally for living well every day; it is so important to enjoy our
food, and it is so important to give it to all. Don’t eat without
successfully trying to use appropriate places for eating, that your
dining room looks cute and that the view is nice, that your chairs
are appropriate for this pleasure, far away from the place of your
work, from the computer, from the phone.
Take time to eat and enjoy this spectacular sensation, if you are
overweight or in poor health, you can’t eat certain foods or
quantities; remember that the meal is your ally, not your enemy. If
you can, enjoy a good company at lunchtime and you will notice
that it becomes pleasant moments, and enjoy each day more and
more of the same.
Another of the advices is, if you are the one who prepares the
food, be careful about several things; the first one is, don’t cook in
excess; at the beginning of the process be clear how many
people will eat with you and determine accordingly the exact
number of the portions; you should not have to eat more than you
are able to or save for later.
Today I want to make some comments about our subject matter. For
many of our readers, healthy cooking and healthy is a real battle
because they don’t know about the vast amount of resources we
have when we are making a delicious and balanced menu. I hope
that with my advices and those of our readers, we have a great
guide to make the time to eat a real pleasure without forget the
nutrition.
We are always a little bit astonished because of the large number of
concepts which exists about nutrition, if vegetarian, organic, diet x,
diet z, fruit therapy and many more ideas that end up confusing us.
The truth is that we can take those ideas as it best and pick up
everything what will make us to have a healthy life.
In my personal opinion, when preparing and consuming food, it is
important to know what benefits us, what is the best way to prepare,
and some people will tell you that the best to prepare food is grilled
food; others will say that the best food is in steam and the form must
be suitable to the tastes of each.
My first advice is as follows:
Use the sensory organs in a way that your meal is the most
exquisite; never forget that when your food looks beautiful in the
process of digestion, then you started good. When it smells good,
when you like the taste, when crispy is really crispy, when red foods
are really red and when everyone keeps that attraction that
stimulates us and delights our palate. I would say the food is one of
the most beautiful arts that not only feed our body but our senses.
Other very important advice to eat healthy is not to abuse in the
quantities. If you want to have excellent health, you must moderate
the amount of salt, sugar, spices, flour. The higher the amount of
what you eat, the higher the possibility that it could come to a
detrimental factor for your health. And if you consume a large
amount of food, it will widen the stomach and the body cannot digest
so much food, therefore it will be saved for the future.
This is the point when we will start to become obese and as
consequence having health problems due to obesity.
My recipe for this edition is a classic salad of international cuisine.
Spanish Photographer
I’m Gemini, from Madrid of extremaduran descent. Since I was
born I was sucking the photography in my home. My Father is a
well-known photographer in Spain, landscape and social and
expert on black and white photography and slide. He made my
mouth water as he gave me my first camera when I was 14. I
still remember the lab my father had at our home, the smell of
the photographic fixer and processing, the red light...
After an interruption in which I studied advertising and graphic
design, about 10 years ago I professionally turned back to this
one of my passions in the digital age.
In my country, the specialized critique is now considering me to
one of the photographers with the greatest projection in the
niche of the photography of people. They say I have a great
intuition and a strong sense of composition. My works try to
reflect the beauty and glamor with snapshots that convey some
feeling for someone to see it. My philosophy is to be the
imagination, the quality, the sensuality and of course, respect
for others, the viewer of my photographs and of course the
people I work with.
I photograph basically with pleasure and for self-realization, but I
also attempt to give the viewer a feeling of a kind of emotion
when he is contemplating my work, then I also photograph
thinking at the people who are following me.
My inspirations are photographers like Meisel and Bitesnich and
particularly the grandmaster Helmut Newton.
I'm basically autodidact, although I additionally have completed
my training by the teachings of my father, with multiple courses
and master in photography.
In the face of the progress in both photography and postprocessing
that occur daily in the digital age, I try to be
constantly evolving in both technical and conceptual. I consider
myself lucky, to be able working on what I really like. I have a
good relationship to my friends, I like to sail and feel the ocean or
the mountain breeze. I love the culture of wine and good food
and sharing the pleasures of life with my family and the people
who really matter me."

Of course suitable buildings belong to the maritime flair.
This “Dockland” called office building that is inspired by a
motor yacht welcomes all incoming ships.
The roof deck is free accessible to everybody and
promises stunning views of the river Elbe and the port of
Hamburg.
Hamburg's buildings do not grow to the sky.
However they are exciting. Witness the
composition of modern architecture and
classic style.
Impressions of the HAFENCITY
At the place where more than 500 years ago the infamous pirate captain
Störtebeker was beheaded, is today created the Hafen City, a new
district in the center of Hamburg.
Here the most prestigious architects are giving their fancy full scope
creating extravagant and futuristic buildings that affects the image of this
district and nevertheless harmonizes with the old buildings of the 19th
Century in the adjacent “Speicherstadt” (warehouse district).
The Unilever House and the Marco Polo Tower belong to the most
outstanding buildings. The glass facade is surrounded by a plastic
coating that gives this building a futuristic vision. Inside are offices and a
small shopping center, which only offers merchandises of Unilever, one
of the giants of the food industry.
The Marco Polo Tower, named after the medieval venetian Chinatraveler
Marco Polo, houses luxury apartments.
Unilever House and Marco Polo Tower
Sumatra Building
It is early evening on a normal weekday. The setting sun bathes leafy
squares and colorful promenades, floating pontoons and architectural
landmarks in a warm light. People from all over the world dander on the
Überseequartier (Overseas Quarter), drift from the varied range of shops,
restaurants and cafes of the Überseeboulevard . Like a living river wriggles
the promenade through the modern buildings of the district, passes the
culinary market which offers specialties from all over the world, and finally
flows to the overseas terraces at the river Elbe.
The Sumatra Building is part of the new Überseequartier. The facades give
us the impression as if a gigantic white paint bucket would be overturned on
the roof and the color runs down slowly. The rays of the sun are refracting a
thousand times, flooding the impressive foyer light and exuding vibrant
energy.
There are other complex of buildings with sonorous names that are
synonymous with historically valuable trade goods, with which Hamburg’s
traders negotiated worldwide: SUMATRA, JAVA and VIRGINIA stands for
tobacco, ARABIC and PACAMARA for coffee, CEYLON for tea,
CINNAMON for spices, SILK and LINNEN for textiles, and finally
PALISANDER, KAMBALA, LIMBA and MERANTI for exotic woods.
130 years ago, began the construction of the Speicherstadt (warehouse
district). In the red brick buildings that today form a pleasant contrast to the
modern and futuristic glass buildings of the Hafen City, were once stored
Hamburg's most valuable commodities such as tea, coffee, spices, fine
cloths, oriental carpets, etc. At that time, the warehouse district was
"abroad". Custom borders were on all roads to this quarter; hence the trade
goods were not stored in Germany and therefore neither had be taxed nor
cleared. A big advantage for traders who this way saved much money and
established their wealth.
Today are located in the buildings of the warehouse district museums,
restaurants and bars, event venues and much more.
Among others, there are:
. The “Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg”, the largest miniature railroad in the
world. 930 model trains run on 13 kilometers rails in a 1,300 square foot
complex, where real landscapes and cities of Central Europe, Scandinavia
and the U.S. are shown. For example, the cities of Las Vegas and Miami,
as well as the Cape Canaveral Spaceport.
Speicherstadt
Contradictory and nonetheless harmoniously: modern glass buildings of the
21st Century in contrast to the buildings of the 19th Century. Hamburg's
HafenCity is like a big architectural exhibition, in which the old and the new,
the special and the normal are impressively presented.
Hamburg Dungeon, a lively history of Hamburg's worst disasters of the
last 800 years, in which the audience is part of the show. The floods of 1717
and 1962, the Great Fire of Hamburg, which destroyed 1842 a quarter of the
city, the Black Death, the Inquisition, torture, and of course the legendary
decapitation of Störtebeker will be presented impressively in a combination
of horror, show and ghost train.
The International Maritime Museum with more than 40,000 exhibits,
individual pieces about navigation, shipbuilding, marine research and much
more things from antiquity to the present day.
The Spice Museum, in which are exposed more than 50 types of spices
from all around the world. Visitors can taste all the spices, they learn from
what countries the spices come from, how they are processed, and what
effects they cause. A highlight is the cooking event, where visitors can learn
how to use the spices properly.
When Hamburg celebrates...
The metro and the buses are full of people that weekend. From
everywhere they flock to participate in this event in July. They are colorful
dressed; wear colored wigs, flashy clothes and makeup, oversized
glasses. They dance and sing frolic and good-humored.
The destination of the crowd is St. Pauli, the district of Hamburg which is a
little different, with its famous Reeperbahn. 600,000 dancing and singing
fans of the German pop-music starting here accompanying the 44 trucks
with loud music through the streets of Hamburg.
The Schlagermove is currently considered the biggest event in Germany.
A special feature is the "samba trains" which that day coming from all over
Germany with dance cabins to Hamburg.
The Reeperbahn: Here starts each year in July the "Schlagermove". In the
background the "Dancing Towers" that perfectly fits in this environment.
But there is much more to
celebrate. Every May, Hamburg
celebrates the birthday of his
port. More than one million
visitors are enjoying four days
long an unforgettable show on
the north bank of the river Elbe.
In late August is the
"Alstervergnügen" a popular
four-day Festival around the
Alster.
The gastronomy and stalls are presenting here their specialties, local
artists are performing on the many stages and as a highlight, the guests
enjoy a spectacular firework on the “Binnenalster”.
The "Hamburger Dom" (an
amusement park) opens three
times a year. Middle of March to
middle of April as the Spring
Festival, late July to late August
as "Hummelfest" and early
November to early December as
"Dom-Markt". Millions of people
are visiting each year this great
event in the city center with over
260 fair attractions and 110
dining establishments.
A special event is the "Altonaer Fischmarkt" (the Altona fish market) that
takes place every Sunday from 5 to 10.30 am directly on the river Elbe. It
is said that the people of Hamburg are not going to church, but to the fish
market. But now there are visiting much more this market and they enjoy
the big variety of choice. Although called "fish market" there are textiles,
flags, small tools for selling, even animals like chickens, pigeons and
rabbits.
A very special event happens each Sunday at the "Fischauktionshalle"
next to the Fischmarkt, which offers "special brunch" with live music on
two stages.
At 10 of September 2013, Sony Music published the new
production of Gloria Estefan: The Standards. In memory of the
great tunes of the American songwriters, The Standards will
provide the fans of Gloria Estefan worldwide with internationally
renowned classics, sung in English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese
and French, with some renewed lyrics, written by her.
This album also
outstands because
of the contributions
of awarded and
worldwide
recognized artists
like the interpreter
and author Laura
Pausini, violinist
saxophonist Dave
his ambitious proposal "had been pending for a
long time," according Estefan, who approached this
repertoire alongside Frank Sinatra on his album “Duets”
(1993), singing "Come Rain Or Come Shine" with him, and
more recently with Tony Bennett on his album Duets II,
singing "Who Can I Turn To (When Nobody Needs me)".
Estefan waited to make a classic album until "have counted on
enough springs," she confirms, "because there are so many
ballads that require experiences for a release with an adequate
credibility."
The concept really accelerated during a dinner with the board of
the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, where Shelly
Berg, who made artistic production and musical arrangements for
artists like Patti Austin, Elliot Smith and Arturo Sandoval, serves
as rector.
As we sat at the piano just for having fun he asked me to sing a
song which I had presented 30 years ago during our first
performance at the Carson Show, "says Estefan, recalling her
presentation of "Conga", which was her first resounding success
with Miami Sound Machine in 1985.During this broadcast of The
Tonight Show she also sang "Good Morning Heartache," the
classic of Billie Holiday, which is now part of The Standards.
"This album closes the circle for me!" she says, and points
out that she has chosen all themes "with my heart and what I
feel." Estefan presented Berg a list of 50 classics that "touch
me personally and made me cry." She recorded 16 songs live
in the studio, keeping a team of four very talented musicians,
all of them masters of the genre, and with a wonderful
orchestra.
"Something magical happens when the musicians recorded
together live," she explains. "Everything went as well as it
should - the stars become apparent!"
During the recordings, Estefan looked for "a sexy
atmosphere, romantic and intimate," she confirms. "I wanted
to make an album that did not have just one more note, with
an economy of arrangements so that it would feel very
intimate and it was just enough to express the emotions of the
song."
Estefan enriched these classics with fresh ideas. "For
example, 'They Can’t Take That Away From Me', which we
recorded completely different than it previously had been
done, a rhythm 6/8, where we almost were merging Afro-
Cuban with the waltz," she says.
For her version of Brazilian Antonio Carlos Jobins big success
"Eu Sei Que Vou Te Amar" wrote Estefan the lyrics and
recorded it for the first time in English with the title "It's You I'll
Always Love." She also wrote the Spanish lyrics and even
recorded it in French, a language she studied in school, with
the title "Tu Sais Je Vais T'aimer".
She also wrote the Spanish lyrics for "Smile", penned by
Charlie Chaplin, which she sings a duet with Laura Pausini in
Spanish and Italian.
"This song always has made me cry," she says. "Charlie
Chaplin spent his life making the people laugh and smile, and
it is one of the songs which break your heart. To record it was
overwhelming because Michael Jackson made a great
version, as well as Natalie Cole. There are so many versions.
I wanted to contribute my own sensibility because it has been
so special to me, and Laura Pausini is extraordinary."
"The Day You Love Me", the song of the Argentine idol
Carlos Gardel, for which Estefan wrote the first English
translation ("The Day You Say You Love Me"), has a special
meaning.
"It was the song of my marriage where Emilio and I were
dancing!" she tells us. "I wanted to record it. It never had
been performed in English, and I wanted to come so close
to the author as possible and I was so inspired. Before
recording the album, I wrote the translation. It's always nice
when you can write a classic! "
“The Standards "is an album which was completely recorded
live, with topics that pertain to the legacy of great artists of
American and Hispanic classic. The album is accessible
since 10 of September this year and in the first week it was
listed at number 20 of the albums top-sellers charts of this
year for the present, according to the Billboard Magazine!
With the new versions, Gloria pays tribute to great themes of
Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Carlos
Gardel and Charles Chaplin, that belonged to her childhood
and represent those classics that never will be forgotten in the
American collective.
Andres / David:
Gloria, why did you make
this album? We already
had enjoyed Latin albums
like the successful "Mi
Tierra" 1993 and "Gloria",
the dance album of 1998.
Gloria Estefan: Since my
childhood I dreamed about
making an album like "The
Standards". I most wanted
to do this job right now and
with it, I fulfill a dream
which I have had for many
years.
This is the right moment to
make it because it is
important to have enough
life experience so that you
really can express what
you want to note to every
recorded song on this
album. On this album I
collected classics that, in
one way or another, have
had a special meaning in
their life.
A/D: How did you start performing this wonderful album?
GE: I took Shelly Berg – the producer of the album, a great pianist,
and connoisseur of the classics of jazz - a list of 50 topics. We sat
six hours in his studio. I made him cry, he made me cry... and so we
selected 16 themes, of which 15 were recorded, I was able to sing
in five languages: English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and French.
The list of themes corresponding to the lyrics that were
published "between twenty and fifty years, which was used in
double meanings because it wasn’t very widespread to talk
openly about love and sensuality."
Official track list of the new album of Gloria Estefan
1. Good Morning Heartache
2. They Can't Take That Away From Me
3. What A Difference A Day Makes
4. I've Grown Accustomed To His Face
5. Eu Sei Que Vou Te Amar
6. The Day You Say You Love Me (Feat. Joshua Bell)
7. Embraceable You
8. What A Wonderful World
9. How Long Has This Been Going On (Feat. Dave Koz)
10. Sonríe (Smile) (Feat. Laura Pausini)
11. The Way You Look Tonight (Feat. Dave Koz)
12. You Made Me Love You
13. Young At Heart
I admit that among the favorite themes of this album, "El día que
me quieras" (The Day You Say You Love Me (feat. Joshua Bell,
adapted by me in English) by Carlos Gardel, was the theme
which made me more emotional to may have it on the record,
because it was my wedding song with my one and only love
Emilio.
A/D: Gloria you never cease your Latin heritage. Reflecting to
this album "THE STANDARDS", can we recognize on this record
any Latin?
G. E. You know that I will never leave it; my Latin roots are
manifested in several of the songs, especially on "You made me
love you". We made a very Latin version. As I heard it, I thought
that it was open to put a background with Latin rhythms. Here is
Cuba accompanied with this Cuban flavor".
A/D This album features great artists, the beautiful and talented
Laura Pausini with whom you performed the duet "Smile", the
violinist Joshua Bell, and the renowned saxophonist Dave Koz.
How was the recording of the album?
G. E. That's right! This album features collaborations with violinist
Joshua Bell, saxophonist Dave Koz and the Italian singer and
songwriter Laura Pausini. With Laura Pausini I cultivate a
friendship and together we interpret the Spanish and Italian
version of "Smile".
A/D Is it very difficult to interpret a theme in Portuguese? In this
album we find the song "Eu sei que vou te amar"
G. E. The Brazilian composition "Eu sei que vou te amar", a work
by Vinicius de Moraes and Antonio Carlos Jobim was wonderful!
In a way it keeps respect for the Latin, moreover it remembers
me when we were recording the Portuguese version of the song
"Here we are" in 1989 for the album "Cuts both ways" where we
had hits like "Get on your feet" and "oye mi canto".
A/D You presented your album "The standards" by giving a
concert that was recorded live, we saw that you went in with
your voice for compositions that have been sung by artists in a
dimension like Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington
or Ella Fitzgerald. How was that experience?
G. E. Wonderful! Besides being of great responsibility, not every
day you can give such a concert and so well-orchestrated! In
fact we make a version with a lot of respect for my fans, a jazz
version of the song "Conga", and the audience loved it! lol
(laughing). Among other titles of this album, it presents "What a
wonderful world", an old and global success in the voice of the
jazzy Louis Armstrong, and "Young at heart", one of the hymns
of Frank Sinatra with whom I had the privilege to sing the great
classic “Come rain or come shine” on his album DUETS 1993.
So you may get the idea to do it right or do it right!
A/D Is there any tour planned with this album?
G. E. Oh yes of course! In October, we’re going to make a
promotion tour in Europe. We will give concerts in London (at
the Royal Albert Hall), The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and
Spain, presenting "The Standards". There will be also concerts
in the U.S. and there is planned a tour of Latin America such as
Brazil. We’re hoping to come to more countries which I adore
like Colombia.
A/D should be to serve the fans. How is Gloria Estefan to her
fans?
G. E. When I leave my house I am very aware that people will
ask me for autographs and hugs. That doesn’t bother me. I love
those people, "I am what I have reached, because these people
have believed in my talent, my affection for them to deliver high
quality work and try to give an example as a woman, mother,
wife, friend and daughter. While my children had to learn to
share their parents and the people around us.
A/D Any memories of Colombia?
G. E. Uff a lot of! I remember the “Into the Light” World Tour in
1992, we were at the stadium El Campin in Bogota, I think
that's the name right? The earth quaked under the number of
attendees and we were worry with my band Miami Sound
Machine, because we didn’t know at what time the stadium
could fall down, it was unbelievable. I exactly remember that
night; also hits like Abiendo Puertas or Mi Tierra have that
Colombian legacy with composers like Kike Santander and
Estefano. The magnificent and short presentation in Cartagena
in 1995! My fans in Colombia are beautiful. They’re always in
my heart!
A/D How do you see the Colombian music?
G. E. It is rising; it is now part of the music of the world. One of
my favorites is Carlos Vives, his music is very rich, and it has
much of his folklore, but at the same time is modern. And I am
proud to have been part of the career of the great Shakira to
whom I have a
deep respect and
admiration, love it!
A/D Have you a
special message to
the Colombians
who are reading
this article?
G. E. I love them
very much; they
always believe in
their goals and
dreams! With great
affection ... Gloria!

"I'm the old sister of
two brothers. I’m
studying Systems
Engineering in the
Colombo Europeo
in Medellin. I love to
investigate deeply
on topics that make
me curious. Since
childhood I have
been passionate
about fashion. This
is the reason why a
friend asked for my
opinion as he
needed an advice. I
want to study
fashion design and
be a prospective
recognized
designer. My
motivation to go
ahead is my mother
and my brother
whom I love."
"I consider myself as very spiritual and
correct in everything I do, I try to give the
best to others. In the field of modeling I
participated in advertising campaigns, little
things at television like "El man es
German", in cinema in "El cartel de los
sapos' and I was image of a dental clinic."
presented a music program. Currently she
has several proposals in some modeling
and photography projects.

La Oreja de Van Gogh
Debut video of their song
“El primer día del resto de mi vida”
El primer día del resto de mi vida, their recent theme which
premiered their video in advance of their new album, recorded
in the format of “Primera Fila En Mexico”, the group will release
it simultaneously in Spain and America on 29 of October.
El primer día del resto de mi vida is a fantastic song that
combines new elements in the arrangements and the sound
but it is at the same time 100% Oreja de Van Gogh. It is one
of the three unreleased tracks, and along with the other 11
great hits it is part of the new work of the Donostiarras (from
San Sebastian).
El Primera Fila is a great production in intimate live format
that combines total new versions of their greatest hits with
new arrangements with new songs and with the
collaboration of special guests; in this case important people
of the music from Latin American.
It’s about the Mexican Natalia Lafourcade, who succeeds in
her country with a tremendously original pop out of
standards; Samo from the successful group Camila; Leonel
García, one of the greatest authors of Latin America who
has won two Latin Grammys and who is the principal
songwriter of Sin Bandera, and the Argentine Abel Pintos,
double platinum holder with his latest album Sueño.
The album, recorded in Mexico and produced by the group
and by Aureo Baqueiro (renowned Mexican author and
producer of artists like Thalia, Alejandro Fernandez or Sin
Bandera), reply to the love and the great reception that the
Latin American audience has always given to the band .
Their last studio album Cometas Por El Cielo was published
in September 2011; debuted at # 1 on the official sales
charts of Promusicae and received platinum. Now they are
back with Primera Fila.
Arango
Photographer and
Graphic Designer
Camilo Arango, born in Medellín, shows with his 22 years
deep interest in the art of photography which is reflected in the
versatility, creativity and quality of his work. An extraordinary
ability for detecting the beauty and to sensualize it makes this
young man to the new revelation in this field.
His photographs are revealing only a small fragment of
something larger, of something that is always hidden and it is
essential to discover it, his pictures are always precise,
impeccable and very sensual.
The perception of fashion through the lens of the camera of a
photographer is the result of an intimate process of analysis,
reflection and above all seduction. Seduction which must
necessarily arise between the photographer, the model and
the garment and in that, this Antioquia is a maestro. All his
works always have a touch of naturalness, always seeking to
portray the essence of every being.
the contrasts are achieved due to his skill and with an
apparent lack of effort that gives his work a natural touch that
