FALL ATLANTA 40 DAYS FOR LIFE
Fall 40 Days for Life will begin Sept 26th through Nov 4th. Atlanta
will join other cities around the world for this pro-life campaign that has
been saving lives and changing hearts. 40 Days for Life has three
components: Prayer and Fasting: believers throughout our city are
invited to join together for 40 days of fervent prayer and fasting for an
end to abortion. Peaceful Vigil: stand for life during a 40 day peaceful
public witness outside the Feminist Women's Health Center,
1924 Cliff Valley Way, Atlanta, GA 30329. Community Outreach: help
take a positive, upbeat pro-life message to every corner of our city
through media efforts, advocacy, and public visibility.

EDGE serves the homeless kids at “Our House”
This is our monthly service project. EDGE will supply cupcakes,
goodie bags, drinks & an art project for the monthly
Birthday celebration for the kids at “Our House” the preschool
& daycare center for homeless kids in Decatur. They celebrate
September Birthdays on the 26 th . There are currently 55 kids
being served by “Our House” We can take 13 kids & I’ll need a
couple of cleared adults to tag along. Our kids will get the
opportunity to interact with these wonderful kids who are
struggling with a very tough life at the moment.
Let me know if you can chaperone, send food or help in any
way. There are volunteer forms they require for this, so please
let me know ASAP if you would like to participate.

items, we will be at the drop off location on

would ask that you not include the following in

TUESDAY SCRIPTURE STUDY
These sessions are an in-depth study of the Sunday’s
readings for Mass. These sessions start Sept 18 th
and they are designed to welcome all members and
friends of St Thomas More to share in a deeper
understanding of the scriptures. Scripture study meets
on Tuesdays at 1:30 pm in the Parish Library. For additional

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
As we begin Religious Education classes parents are
reminded of the importance of making sure that children
in the 1st grade and up attend Mass on Sunday. This is
an important part of their spiritual growth and formation.
Children need the opportunity to put into practice what
they are learning in the class each week.
MEN'S EVENING OF REFLECTION
Please join us on Monday evening, Sept 17th, for a
Saint Thomas More Men’s Evening of Reflection
. . .an opportunity to share and reflect on scripture,
discuss real-life topics, and pray with other men
sharing a common objective of growing in their
relationship with Jesus. The evening is open to all
men of the parish community aged 18 or older,
Catholic or non-Catholic, and seeks to provide a
fun and supportive environment where we can
share our progress in the journey of faith. This is a
casual gathering, and you won't be put on the spot!

for Adults (RCIA) program is looking for you. It’s an opportunity
to come together in a small group to learn more
about Catholicism with adults from all faith traditions,
focus on Church teachings, and clear up misconceptions.
The sessions are on Tuesday nights at 7:30 PM. You are
not committing to anything by attending, but many participants
do decide to join the Church and celebrate the
Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist at
Easter. You are welcome to join us with your questions,
your insights and your faith story in a warm, accepting

TOUR CHRIST THE KING,
ATLANTA’S CATHEDRAL:
Monday, Sept. 24, 7:00 PM
Discover the hidden stories behind the Cathedral of
Christ the King. Our Cathedral, standing proudly on
Peachtree Street in Buckhead, is the mother church
for the 1 million Catholics of North Georgia. Join us
for a behind-the-scenes tour as you learn about the
architecture and history of Christ the King from
Deacon Whitney Robichaux. A highlight is a visit to
the Sacristy, where you can view the vestments and
see how the items used during Mass are stored and
safely kept. You are welcome to meet us outside the
front doors (2699 Peachtree Road) at 7:00 PM, or
gather at St. Thomas More at 6:30 to arrange

TWENTY-FOURTH SUNDAY
IN ORDINARY TIME
The prophet Isaiah teaches us that the Lord God
is our help in the face of opposition. In St. Mark’s
Gospel, Jesus proclaims we must take up our
cross and follow Him. St. James gives us a
practical lesson on sacrifice when he states, faith
of itself, if it does not have works, is dead. What
a powerful stewardship message! We, as Christ’s
disciples, are called in our Baptism to serve the
Church by giving our time, talent, and treasure
back to God through our parish communion. It is
our responsibility as faithful stewards to use
God’s abundant gifts wisely. How are we
responding to His call to service?
BEING PRO-LIFE
Being Pro-life means many things. Volunteers at
Advice & Aid Pregnancy Problem Center (AAPPC),
are on the front lines of a spiritual battle ground
where many victories occur. Do you feel called to
save lives both spiritually and physically - those of
the unborn and the moms and dads? If so please

be daily, weekly, monthly or as time permits. There
are many roles - parenting class instructor, organizing

CAREER MINISTRY
The next STM Career Ministry meeting is
Thurs, Sept 20th at 7:00 PM in the St. Julie Room.
The meetings are open to anyone seeking to find a
job or change the job they have, and anyone willing
to help job seekers and job changers find employment.
The meeting may include a short presentation
on a job seeking area, and then one on one
discussions with our advisors in the areas of resume
strategy and updates, job leads through networking,
and career exploration. We also have information
on job networking meetings throughout Atlanta to
assist in your job search, and an online presence in
Linked In as the STM Career Ministry group. For

CATHOLIC-ORTHODOX ECUMENICAL GATHERING
The next Catholic-Orthodox Ecumenical Gathering will take
place on Tuesday, Sept 25th at 7:00 PM at the Greek
Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation, 2480 Clairmont
Road, N.E., Atlanta, Georgia 30327 with a reception
following. His Excellency, Most Reverend Wilton D.
Gregory and His Eminence, Alexios will officiate, with
choirs from both Churches. The keynote speaker will be Dr.
Alveda King, niece of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,
who is on the staff of Priests for Life International. Dr. King
will address the issue of Religious Liberty.
What are you doing for the Year of Faith? Pope
Benedict XVI has declared a Year of Faith to
commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the beginning
of the Second Vatican Council and the twentieth of the
publishing of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

BAPTISM CLASS
The next Baptism class will be held Sunday, Sept 30th.
THIS IS A COMBINATION OF THE SEPT & OCT
CLASS. If this is your first child is to be baptized at STM
you must be registered at STM. After you have been
registered two or more months you will need to attend a
Baptism class. The class begins promptly at 1:00 pm.

Those wishing to act as sponsors for Baptism or
Confirmation please note the requirements.
1.The person must be a registered parishioner for
at least 3 months.
2.They must be active in the parish community by
Mass attendance and by support of the church.

9:00 am in written form or via email to

PARISH MEMBERSHIP
We welcome new families and individuals to our
parish. Registration packets are available in the
parish office Monday—Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm,
by asking a priest or usher after the weekend
Masses, or in the Immaculata Gift Shop.
Those who move away, change addresses, phone
numbers, or family status are asked to notify the
parish office at 404-378-4588 or
