Anne McDonald
McGovern V65 and her
brother Bob McDonald V67
were among 12,000 athletes
in the 2007 National Senior
Games in Louisville,
Kentucky.
Anne participated in 6
events. Her best efforts were
10th place in the 100 yard
breaststroke, 12th in the 50
breaststroke and 13th in the
100 backstroke.
Bob participated in 5
events. His best efforts were
7th place in the 50
backstroke and 8th in the
100 backstroke.
Earlier in the year Anne
and Bob both completed the
USMS 1 hour postal swim.

Katie Dannemiller VM85
was selected as the 2007
Woman of the Year by the
South Atlantic League and
received the award at the
eighth annual Awards
Luncheon held on October
18, 2007 in Asheville, North
Carolina. Katie is currently
the Greensboro
Grasshoppers’ Vice President
of Baseball Operations.

Brian Windhorst VM96
recently co-authored a book
with Terry Pluto, “The
Franchise: Lebron James and
the Remaking of the
Cleveland Cavaliers.” The
review of the book provided
by Gray & Company,
Publishers relays that the
book “takes an in-depth look
at how a team and a city are
being rebuilt around LeBron
James. They tell the
converging stories of a
struggling franchise that had
to get worse in order to get
better and a highly touted
teenage phenom, the local
kid who became their future.
This book will fascinate any
basketball fan who wants the
inside story of how LeBron
James became the young
superstar shouldering the
weight of an entire NBA
franchise.”
Brian has been a reporter
for the Akron Beacon
Journal since 2000. In
addition, he has covered the
Cleveland Cavaliers since
2003. Other areas of media
and sports-writing
involvement include: NBA
correspondent for
ESPN.com and ESPN First
Take since 2006. Brian
currently resides in Brook
Park, Ohio, and Jupiter,
Florida.
Dr. Darlene M. Khoury VM78
Dr. Darlene M. Khoury
VM78 is the Director of
Liturgy and Music at
St. Barnabas Parish Family
in Northfield, Ohio. Darlene
directed and accompanied
the St. Barnabas and St. Joan
of Arc Church Choirs
recently in Rome, Italy. The
choirs sang a Eucharistic
Liturgy at the Chair of
St. Peter in St. Peter's
Basilica. They also
performed a master’s concert
series at the Church of Gesu,
in Rome, and sang a
Eucharistic Liturgy at the
Basilica of Saint Francis in
Assisi. In addition, they
traveled and sang
throughout Stresa, Milan
and Florence. Their next
pilgrimage will be in
Austria/Germany, where
they will give concerts and
sing liturgies throughout the
major cathedrals and castles.

Brian Shoman VM97
received the 2007 Herb Nold
Volunteer of the Year Award
due to his “most
distinguished and dedicated
service to the Northeastern
Ohio Tennis Association.”
Brian is a Towpath Teaching
Professional and also the
Local League Coordinator
for Junior Team Tennis.
Brian is married to
Stephanie Buschko Shoman
VM01 and they reside in
Akron, Ohio.
Fondly known as “Mr. Klotz”,
Carl “Bill” Klotz M53, long-time
social studies teacher (1957-
1996) at St. Mary High School
and at STVM, received a tribute
in the form of a “shadow box”
recognizing his many
archeological digs. The shadow
box plaque has a place of honor
in the LRC and features the
shovel from his last dig along
with a group photo of the
STVM students that
participated.
Engraved on the plaque: “His
annual “The Dig” Project
inspired inquiry and
imagination in the minds of his
World History students. He is
seen here in the spring of 1996
with students from the STVM
Class of 1999 enjoying his last
“dig.”
