Research Interests:
Malaria, one of the most daunting infectious diseases of all time, has
thwarted man’s efforts to fight it for long. Decades of research from
different standpoints on this infectious disease has yet to yield a fruitful
result with regard to a cure. I am interested to study the biology of the
malarial parasite, and find the missing link that could possibly lead to a
solution for the jigsaw.
Masters Thesis:
I carried out my Masters thesis in Professor Dominique Soldati’s Lab at the
Department of Microbiology and Molecular Medicine in University of
Geneva, Switzerland. I worked on the project entitled “Identification and
characterization of the repertoire of putative PATs (Palmitoyl
Transferases) in Toxoplasma gondii ”.
*A publication on the work carried out is awaited.
‣ As a part of my course curriculum, in the penultimate
semester, I carried out a project entitled “Identification of
Antidiabetic potential of Ixora coccinea flowers on
Streptozotocin induced diabetes in adult Wistar rats.” The
project involved phytochemical studies, and also experiments
from a biochemical and histopathological standpoint were
carried out.
