<strong>Design</strong> objectives:<br />
“Severe duty” application/ st<strong>and</strong>ardisation<br />
2004 MAN TURBO started with the development program of a subsea compressor/motor<br />
unit with the following general design objectives<br />
All pressurized casings <strong>and</strong> covers material, design, manufacturing <strong>and</strong> testing<br />
according PED directive <strong>and</strong> ASME codes<br />
Suitability to run in sour, wet <strong>and</strong> subsea gas compression environments.<br />
Single piece low alloy steel <strong>for</strong>ging <strong>for</strong> the motor rotor <strong>and</strong> special coating <strong>for</strong><br />
corrosion protection (NACE compliance).<br />
Enhanced motor-cooling method to increase overall train efficiency <strong>and</strong> to optimize<br />
necessary thrust compensation<br />
<strong>Development</strong> of a st<strong>and</strong>ardized high speed motor family to enlarge the power range<br />
Acc. API 617, DIN, ISO <strong>and</strong> IEC/EN St<strong>and</strong>ards<br />
Skid design to fulfill ATEX (EU) requirements.<br />
