Greetings Nobles and Ladies! 

I would like to start by thanking all of 

you who were able to attend Tangier’s 

installation. Donna and I had a 

wonderful night! A special THANK 

YOU to all of you who helped make 

the evening a success. 

We hosted Imperial Sir Mike 

Severe at the January stated 

meeting. The evening was a lot of 

fun; a special thank you to John Naverette and his 

kitchen crew for a wonderful meal. 

Thank you to all of the Nobles and Ladies who 

were able to attend our Pote’s trip to Jamaica. It was 

an incredible trip, we could not have asked for more. I 

know everyone had a great time. 

It’s February and of course that means it’s time 

for Circus! Our biggest event of the year. It will be 

February 23-26. Set up will be Wednesday the 22nd. 

We can use everyone’s help. So Nobles bring your 

Ladies and come on down to the Circus. Don’t forget 

to sell those tickets and put out your yard signs. 

Other important events, we have a friendship 

dinner on February 10th so bring that new candidate 

out for an evening of food fun and fellowship. Nobles 

don’t forget February 14th is Valentine’s Day, you 

better get some flowers for your Lady or you’ll be in 

the dog house. 

Mark your calendar for the Potentate’s Ball 

Saturday March 31. I have a band that will be one 

to remember. Redfish island records artist Kelly 

McGuire. He is an island “Buffetish” kind of guy. 

You can find details in this issue. 

We have had a great start to the year, thank you 

all for your hard work and support. Let’s keep the 

momentum going. Remember Tangier Shriners is

Recently I received information regarding the dates and 

quotas for our Blood Drives for 2012. Our February Drive 

will be on the first Monday in February and our goal will 

be 20 pints. I would hope that we would have no problem 

exceeding this nominal goal. If we consider that the Bloodmobile 

will be open for six hours our goal can be considered as less than one 

pint for each 15 minute period. Tangier has had goals to reach that 

are much more difficult then this. 

Check your calendars and let me know what time would be 

convenient for you. Those who read this article on a regular basis 

know that it has been longer than one year since we met our assigned 

goal. With your help we will start this year in the right way. Ask your 

friends and family if they would join us for this Drive. 

I told you that I would bring you up to date on the members who

Arab Patrol

The start of the new year is going to find 

the Arab Patrol very busy and involved. 

That’s good, because that’s the way we like 

it. Our February meeting schedule has been 

altered by President Phil Hardiman to help 

prepare us for upcoming events. In February 

we will meet on the 6th and 20th. We need 

all members to be present on these dates, 

so circle them on your calendar. Our usual 

second Monday of the month meeting on 

the 13th of February will be replaced by our 

Valentine dinner party. This gives us a chance 

to show our Ladies how very special they are. 

We will meet at Anthonys at 6:00 pm and 

have dinner at 7:00 pm. Check your e-mail 

for meal choices etc. With the Circus coming 

to town, we all know what that means. Black 

out the dates of February 23-26 on your 

calendar. 

Don’t expect any let up in the month 

of March. The patrol will be cooking for 

hamburger night on the 7th. And, remember 

that fantastic meal we had last year with the 

Omaha Barbecue where there was so much 

food that it should have been illegal? We 

will be going back there for another feast 

on March 10th. Meet at the Fireman’s Hall 

around 6:30 pm. 

Finally, communication among all 

members is going to be extremely vital in the 

success of all the projects on tap for this year. 

If you are not receiving the e-mails sent by 

Charlie Binge, please let him know so that it 

can be corrected. 

Any Shriner that is interested in becoming 

a member of the Arab Patrol can contact 

president Phil Hardiman or drop in on any of 

our meetings. We promise you an active and 

fun experience. 

Another year is upon us, and we 

look forward to a great 2012. 

2011 was a very successful year for Boone 

and Crockett. A lot of fun and some very 

successful fund-raisers. Thanks again to our 

2011 President Dan Henn for stepping up and 

taking a 2nd term of President for the club. He 

is always there for the club whether it’s cooking 

for our monthly meetings or keeping the club 

moving forward for the benefit of Tangier and 

our Hospitals. Dan and many other members 

spent many hours helping prepare and serve 

our Wild Game Feed in December which was 

another fantastic event. 

Thanks to Ruth Henn and all the other Ladies 

for their assistance all year long. We need and 

appreciate our Ladies support. We owe another 

big thanks to Mick Dudzinski for again “Ram- 

Rodding” the Whitetails Dinner in February 

last year and to Past President Jim Jacobson 

for organizing another successful Tangier Fish 

Fry last summer. I’m probably forgetting some 

folks to thank but we do have a great group of 

guys who are there to support our cause and I 

look forward to working with them this year. 

The 2012 officers are President Jim 

Huebner, Vice President Mark Westadt, 

Secretary Jeremy Thomason, and Treasurer 

Pete Donohoo. 

In future articles we will provide dates of 

our fundraising events and any social outings 

we have planned for the year. 

We look forward to signing up new members. 

My plans are to have even more fishing trips 

and social outings this year and have fun while 

we’re working hard. We meet in the lower 

level the 1st Thursday of each month, hope to 

see you all soon.

Hello again to all the klowns and their 

wonderful Ladies. 

I would like to start out by congratulating 

the Divan and wishing them a positive year. 

We have a few of our klowns that have stepped 

up a level first Jim “Hewy” Hirl was elected 

to a Trustee position, Jim “Hambone” Sklenar 

was appointed as Marshal, Bryan “Squiggles” 

Deming and Ed “Gudder” Mummey were 

both selected to be Chief Aides. Cngrats and 

good luck gentlemen. 

Squiggles, Bitz, and I went to the unit 

officers installation on the 7th of January. 

We had a nice breakfast and the ceremony 

followed, so we are now official. 

The Super Bowl Party is on the 5th of 

February. We still have tickets, so let’s get out 

and sell, sell, sell. We need help in all areas, 

so contact your unit officers to find out where 

you can help. 

We have our first Hamburger Night coming 

on the 8th of February, so we need all klowns 

on deck. Following we will have a short 

klown college about rules and regs do’s and 

don’t’s at Circus, then we will practice our 

skit for Circus. 

Valentinos is still an on-going paying gig. 

All money earned is going to firetruck repair 

and upkeep, so we need more klowns to step 

up to bat, so we can keep this gig going. It is 

an easy gig. To help, call or E-mail Bitz. 

Dues notices went out a little later this year, 

so check to see if you have paid your dues. If 

not, please remit as soon as possible. 

If you are not receiving E-mails from your 

officers: 1) check your spam filter; 2) update 

your E-mail address with us. 

Last but not least I would like to thank 

Boy Scout Troop #331 for their help with the 

Shrine Kids 

Christmas Party. The boys ran games for 

us, and they were very professional and a lot 

of help. The unit will donate $50.00 to their 

troop funds. 

Again I have rambled on, so I will close.

Greeters

As I write this article the temperature 

outside is 66 degrees. Welcome to winter in 

Nebraska! 

Tangier stated meeting is February 9th. 

Dinner at 6:15 pm and meeting at 7:30 pm. 

The Circus makes this a very important 

meeting so call now for dinner reservations. 

We need Greeters at both doors at 5:15 in 

Blue Blazers. 

Circus, Circus, Circus is February 23, 

24, 25, and 26. Greeters and Greeter Gals 

business meeting is February 14. We need 

100% attendance at this meeting so that 

we can complete the sign-up for all of the 

performances for our two novelty booths. 

You will be called for dinner reservations 

for this important February meeting. After 

the Circus we can relax until the Greeters 

and Greeter Gals host Hamburger and Pie 

Night which is Wednesday February 29. We 

need Greeters to fix and serve the food and 

the Gals to make and sell the Pies. After this 

service project is over you will not have to 

work another day in February! 

Thanks to those who worked and prepared 

food at the Hospitality suite for the Shrine 

Ceremonial and also thanks to those who 

worked the doors at Divan Installation. 

Thanks again to the over 60 people who 

attended the Christmas Party. This was a 

wonderful way to end 2011 for our Director 

Phil and Lady Tricia and for Assistant 

Director Carl and Lady Diana. We Greeters 

and Greeter Gals have many enjoyable 

memories of 2011.

Director’s Staff

Well, the year is well underway and the 

Directors Staff is gearing up for another great 

year. 

It is hard to imagine but Circus is already 

upon us. We will again be running the 

inflatables room as well as selling novelties 

just down the hall on the second floor. If 

you can free up some time, come on out to 

help. We could use help setting the room up 

Wednesday night. The remaining days we 

need people to man the room and novelty 

stand. Please come out to help. It is a little 

work and a whole lot of fun. 

Also just around the corner is our annual 

Mardi Gras extravaganza. Mardi Gras takes 

place on March 3rd this year. If you have 

never been to a Mardi Gras, this is the one to 

come to as it is our first ever bead bonanza. If 

you would like a ticket or table, look up any 

member of the Directors staff. 

Our annual SDA convention is also rapidly 

approaching. The dates are March 28th 

through March 31st in San Antonio. Last 

year at this time, the Directors Staff was busy 

preparing to host this convention. It sure will 

be nice to just relax and enjoy it this time. If 

you can make the trip, you should. It is a great 

way to meet Shriners from across the country. 

It is always a great time. 

You don’t have to look to far ahead on 

the calendar to find ceremonial and parade 

season. I am really looking forward to the 

year ahead with the Directors Staff. It is 

already shaping up to be a great one. 

Road Runners

patients. Thirteen patients travelled by 

private conveyance.

I know you all are chomping at the bit to 

get out and drive. The Illustrious Sir Greg 

Hadcock’s, slogan for the year 2012 is “Tangier 

Shriners Fun With A Purpose.” We all need to 

get behind the Illustrious Sir and the Divan and 

make 2012 a great year. 

CIRCUS, CIRCUS, CIRCUS! Sell all of 

the ads and tickets you can. Please get ready 

to drive the golf carts to transport the circus 

workers back and forth. Our meeting is after 

the Circus so please plan on supporting your 

club by driving the carts. If you can’t drive a 

cart please participate by selling tokens, face 

painting or escorting people. Just participate, 

it take a village and a couple of ID10T’s for 

the circus to be a success. When 11pm hits on 

Circus night’s we will turn in our carts and be 

done with our day. 

For our February meeting the Ladies will be 

going to Pepperjacks at 84th and Park. Saturday 

March 17th is St. Patrick’s Day and Our Corned 

Beef and Cabbage feed. Please plan on attending 

and donating your time to your Temple, as this is 

one of our fundraisers. 

Dues are due to Gary by the end of March’s 

business meeting or George will cut you off of 

the roster. 

April 4th is our Hamburger night please plans 

on attending and supporting your club. 

Remember to support all clubs, units, lodges 

and rites.

Chanters

Here we are in the second 

month of a new year.zively. The Chanters 

performed at the installation of the Tangier 

Shrine Divan on January 6, 2012. We hope 

we made a good impression on all the Nobles 

and Ladies present at this event. 

In a continuation of the tradition started 

last year, I would like to introduce you to our 

Lieutenant, Noble Joe Riddle. He worked for 

the Rock Island, then the Chicago & North 

Western and then the Union Pacific (UP) 

Railroads starting in 1973. He retired in 

2006 from the UP as a crew dispatcher. Joe 

was a member of the Illinois Air National 

Guard for over 26 years as a member of the 

566 Air Force Band. He has been a Master 

Mason for over 33 years. Joe was raised in 

Boulevard Lodge No. 882 AF&AM (now 

West Englewood - Home Lodge No 1074 

AF&AM in Oaklawn, IL) and was Master 

in 1984 and 1987. He is a dual member of 

Coral Lodge No. 430 AF&AM in Carson, 

IA, and has been Secretary since 1996. 

Joe belongs to the Oak Lawn, IL York Rite 

Bodies, Omaha Valley of the Scottish Rite. 

His wife Ellen and he also belong to Amber 

Star Chapter OES, Quick, IA, Harmony 

Chapter OES, Council Bluffs, IA. They, also, 

belong to Friendship Court, Order of the 

Amaranth, Oak Lawn, IL and Unity Shrine, 

White Shrine of Jerusalem (WSJ), Tinley 

Park, IL and Harmony Council Shrine WSJ, 

Council Bluffs, IA. He joined the Chanters 

as a top tenor in 2009, and has been a valued 

member ever since. 

Any man with a joy for singing and 

interested in joining us should contact any 

Chanter or just stop by on the 2nd, 4th, and 

5th Mondays around 7:30 pm at the Shrine 

Center. (This is a revised meeting schedule!) 

That’s my update for February. Of course, 

we all know that February 23 through 26, 

2012 is the Shrine Circus and the Chanters 

will provide direction on the ramps and help 

with the National Anthem as usual. See you

Hospital Float

As this article is written, 

January has been mild and 

snowless. I hope this continues 

into February. February is Circus month and the 

Hospital Float Unit has in the past been involved 

with ticket taking. Again this year Float members 

will be asked to sign up for that job. The dates for 

the Circus are February 23rd – 26th. 

With sadness, we report the passing of Lady 

Claudette Harmon in January. Her husband, 

Noble Bill Harmon, a member of the Hospital 

Float Unit, preceded her in death in 2006. Our 

sincere condolences are sent to Claudette’s 

family. 

Under sickness, Noble Dean Anderson had a 

knee replacement and Lady Nadine Ellis spent 

two days in the hospital. Lady Carol Plummer has 

fallen again recently and is recovering slowly. We 

extend our best to all for a speedy recovery. 

Happy Birthday wishes for February to Nobles 

Ed Nolte, Stan Hale and Mike Donham and to 

Ladies Maggie Ferryman, Martha Sherman and 

Wilma Henderson.

MO-RI

The Tangier election for 2012 is now history. 

The new Divan and MO-RI officers have been 

installed and ready to take their place leading 

Tangier into the future. MO-RI wishes to 

congratulate our new Potentate, Illustrious Sir 

Greg Hadcock and Lady Donna as well as the 

remainder of the elevated and elected Divan. 

Tangier’s new Oriental Guide Charlie Marchand 

and Lady Connie have joined MO-RI and 

already contributed by attending our December 

2011 dinner meeting. MO-RI also wishes to 

acknowledge Past Potentate Bob Klesath and 

Lady Suz along with his Divan for all of the 

assistance and guidance they shared with us 

during another strong year for our Shrine Club. 

On the subject of Circus ads, preliminary 

results indicate MO-RI will meet and surpass 

last year’s target. We need to continue to 

appreciate our longtime sponsors as they 

continue to support our cause. Remaining 

positive, our selling staff has found several 

new sponsors to add to our success in selling 

ads for 2012. Speaking of the Circus, mark your 

calendars for February 23 – 26. Don’t miss out 

on what could be the last time Tangier will be at 

the Civic. No matter where the Tangier Circus 

performs there will always be the smiles on the 

faces in the audience. 

Our February 16 dinner meeting will be held 

in Omaha’s Rockbrook Village at the Pasta 

Amore Café, 108th and Center. Please bring 

your Lady and join us for the evening. Bring

Keystone Kops

Brothers and sisters, Kops and Kuties, 

Shriners and Ladies all: I’m glad to say that 

the New Year is here. It’s now February and 

Circus time again. This is my favorite time to 

be a Shriner. I love the Circus. Seeing the smiles 

on the faces of everyone there just drives home 

the good feeling that I get, knowing that we 

are working hard for the patients being treated 

at our Shrine Hospitals and having the greatest 

time doing it. I hope to see all available Kops 

and Kuties there in full goofy force to make this 

year’s Circus the best one ever. Skit ideas are 

already being kicked around (like Kop helmets 

at Circus) and I’m sure there will be some 

“boom booms” in there somewhere. So get out 

those uniforms, wash the crusty pie from CSSA 

off of them, sew the “RIGHT” shiny buttons on 

them and FALL IN! 

If you didn’t get a chance to go to the greatest 

New Year’s party in Omaha then you missed 

out. Tangier was once again the place to be on 

New Year’s Eve. Kops and Kuties turned out 

in force, but as we all know what happens in 

Tangier stays in Tangier so that’s another story. 

I myself turned another year older in January, 

and due to a clerical error no one knew, but 

that’s OK by me. Now on that note I would like 

to wish a very Happy Birthday to the wife of 

our newest Past Chief Tracey Goodman, and 

our newest Kop Steve Elliot. Glad to have 

you Brother! I would also like to say Happy 

Anniversary to Past Chief Bob “Red Dog” 

Regnas and his Kutie Penny and Past Chief Jeff 

Burnham and his Kutie Kim.

Legion of Honor

It’s the middle of winter and if 

you’re like me, Spring can’t get 

here soon enough. January was very active 

with the Divan installation followed the next 

day by Unit and Club Officer’s installation. 

Bravo-Zulu to the Color Guard for posting 

the Colors at the installation as well as on 

the Temple meeting night where we had 

the honor of the Imperial Potentate present. 

Brothers, I can’t say it enough, you guys 

are the best! The following Wednesday was 

Hamburger Night and again Bravo-Zulu to 

all the Brothers and their Ladies for the hard 

work in the galley getting the chow out. 

Looking at my calendar, this month looks 

like fair winds and calm seas until the 23rd. 

That’s right, it’s Circus time! All hands 

are needed at all the shows so please plan 

to attend. We always have a good time at 

Circus. And I have tickets if you need them. 

Illustrious Sir Hadcock has put out a 

long range event schedule for 2012, most 

noteworthy are the Potentate’s Ball on March 

31st, and the Fall Ceremonial on November 

10th. The rest of the schedule I will put out 

at our next LOH meeting on February 7th. 

February 18th is our Fez Ball I would like 

to see all of you there to enjoy a good meal 

and good music. 

March 21st is the International LOH 

convention in Alexandria, VA. Lt. Cmdr. 

Tom Upton and I, along with our Ladies 

,will be attending and if you also desire to 

attend, go to International LOH’s web site 

for all the scuttlebutt.

lovely Lady Sue on New Year’s eve at the 

Shrine so the next time you see them give 

them your well wishes.

Here it is. 2012! It should prove to be an 

exciting year. Motor A is ready for “Fun with 

A Purpose”. It is with great honor that we 

welcome our new Potentate Sir Greg Hadcock 

and his Lady Donna. Installation was a fun 

evening and the food was excellent. Everyone 

attending had an excellent time. 

I apologize to my fellow members for 

missing the January issue, not starting out the 

new year with BANG. 

The Motor A Christmas party at Ron and 

Tami Stites, was wonderful. It was the last one 

with our Divan member Chuck and his Lady 

Anita. We will miss them. On the other hand 

we are looking forward to who will be our 

Divan member for 2012. 

We met at Millard Road house for our 

January meeting. We meet the first Monday of 

the month, winter months and late fall usually 

at the Road House. In the summer we usually 

rotate around to some of the members who host 

the meetings. Captain Larry Hulsebus always 

has the details. His contact number is listed in 

the Hot Sands. Our Unit is growing and we 

love it. We major in “FUN”, so Sir Potentate’s 

new message is perfect for us. Gene Bowman 

and Roger McCauley are on the list of Shriners 

who transport children to our hospitals. We 

commit ourselves to the Circus every year; a 

lot of us sell tokens and in between whatever 

else needs to be done, helping usher some of 

the performances and as always helping with 

the special needs performance. 

Our passion is the Parades, our ‘57 Chevys 

keep us all busy. Shining, waxing, remembering 

to bring gas, our keys, our Fezzes and of course 

the friendly competition as to who can go the 

fastest. In a nut shell we are looking forward to 

another year. 

Brandon and Lindsey celebrated their first 

anniversary New Year’s Eve (they got married 

at the NYE Party in 2011).

I am including a part of a letter sent to the 

Twin Cities Hospital from the mother of one 

of our patients, Connor, from Sioux Falls, 

SD; I think you will be as touched by it as 

I was. 

Dear Members of the Women’s General 

Auxiliary, Shriner’s Hospitals for Children 

Twin Cities, El Riad Shriners, I have been 

reflecting on how to even begin to thank 

you for helping our family. We are so deeply 

grateful for your generosity! You’ve given 

our little boy something invaluable--a gift 

of mobility--which will provide him new 

opportunities to shine. I read a story some 

time ago, and there is a part that has stuck 

with me: Santa placed a candle on the 

mantle and lit it. The soft glow from its one 

tiny flame brightened the room. Santa said, 

“The glow of the candle represents how 

people can show their thanks for the gift 

of that Christmas Eve long ago. Teach the 

children to go about doing good, and to let 

their light shine so that all may see it.” Our 

precious Connor is our bright star! He’s got 

a sparkling personality and his smile lights 

up the room. His giggles make everyone 

around him giggle too! Conner’s been an 

example of character to us and his pure 

determination has taught us to be thankful 

for so many things; quite honestly, things we 

probably took for granted all too often before 

he came. As I look around and see colored 

lights on trees, twinkling lights on houses, 

bright stars in the sky, I think of children-- 

how you’ve helped my child and the many 

other children you’ve helped. My eyes have 

grown teary now, and I am speechless. And, 

I am grateful. 

From the wholeness of our hearts, thank 

you! Rebecca N. and family.

Past Masters

The Past Masters Club met at the Tangier 

Shine December 10th with a catered dinner. 

Elections were held for officers for 2012. Elected 

were Mel Morton President, Jeffrey Coleman 

Vice President, Carl Highman Secretary and 

Paul Schroeder Treasurer. I would like to thank 

Don Miller for his leadership last year and look 

forward for his advice this coming year. We 

also would like to thank Ric Thompson for his 

past years as Secretary and all he has done to 

get the club running. 

The Past Masters Club meets quarterly. Our 

next meeting will be March 2nd at the Shrine 

with a social hour at 6:00 pm and dinner at 7:00 

pm. Our program will be from the Omaha Police 

Department arranged by Brother Jim Sklenar. I 

would like to express my appreciation to Jim 

for his help on the program. 

It was decided to meet at the Shrine with 

a catered dinner rather than going to various 

restaurants. Last year it was decided that the 

club wanted to be a social club as many of us 

are in other clubs and units that do work around 

the Shrine. This gives us a chance to sit back, 

relax and enjoy an evening with other Shiners 

and their Ladies. 

If you are a Past Master, we would love to 

have you as a member of the Past Masters 

Club. We have a $25.00 initiation fee and dues 

of $5.00 per year. Join us at the next meeting to 

relax and enjoy each other’s company. 

Golden Girls

A new month - February. Christmas cards 

have been replaced by Valentine’s Day greeting 

cards, so lots of red still around in addition to 

pink. And candy? Yes, beckoning chocolate for 

your sweetheart is in abundance. Best you not 

forget Valentine’s Day, which is being observed 

on the 14th. 

This month is often referred to as lover’s 

month and definitely known as Circus month 

around Tangier Shrine Center. Shriners are 

busy - busy - busy in an all-out effort to ensure 

the annual Shrine Circus is a great success. 

President’s Day will be observed on the 20th, 

the day designated to honor past presidents of 

the United States. It’s also a welcome holiday 

from work for many. 

Golden Girls will meet on Valentine’s Day, 

the 14th. Same time and place - twelve noon 

in the lower level (Oasis room) of the Shrine 

Center. Come and enjoy a tasty lunch, visit with 

your friends, and view some very interesting 

dolls from around the world. 

Edna Hesson, Martha Sherman, and Florence 

Young are celebrating their birthday this month. 

On the 15th, Florence will reach the grand old 

age of 105. Truly amazing! 

Wishing all readers a happy Valentine’s Day. 

Again, be sure to remember your loved ones on 

this occasion. It’s love that makes the world 

go around. So many say! This writer thinks it’s 

money, rather than love. - Until next month. 

Provost Racers

The Provost Guard would like 

to congratulate Illustrious Sir 

Greg Hadcock and Lady Donna and the 2012 

Divan and their Ladies. The Provost Guard is 

looking forward to supporting Tangier Shrine 

and our Divan in 2012. We know you will 

have a fun-filled and productive year. 

On January 13th, Provost Guard held our 

Change of Command dinner and Illustrious 

Sir Greg installed our new officers. They 

are: Chief-Ron Barber, Deputy Chief- Mark 

Batchelder, Major and Secretary- Donovan 

Brand and Treasurer- Ed Thompson. We 

also had a wonderful dinner with over 80 

people in attendance. Special thanks to John 

Naverette and staff, the Provost ladies that 

helped decorate and A Very Special Thanks 

to Jr. Past Chief Dave Robinson and his Lady 

Lesia Nordell for all your leadership this past 

year. Job Well Done Guys! 

The next major event for the Provost 

will be the Shrine Circus, which will be 

held February 23 through 26. Setup will 

be Wednesday February 22nd at 6:00 pm, 

with a short meeting to follow. Thursday 

February 23rd is the DARE performance at 

11:00 am and on Friday the 24th is Special 

Peoples performance at 1:00 pm and we 

will need as much help as possible for these 

performances. This is a major event for all 

Provost Guard members and we need for all 

Provost to help as much as possible. If you 

don’t have a specific job lined up just show 

up and you will be put to work. Even though 

this is a lot of work, as always we seem to 

also have a lot of fun doing it so come join us 

at the Circus! 

Mobile Nobles

Well the holidays are now over and it’s 

time to set back and relax, right? Wrong! 

Here comes the Circus. The dates for the 

Circus are February 23rd through the 26th. 

But before then, we have to finish remodeling 

the coach and get the train spick and span. 

I guess there is no rest for the wicked or so 

I have heard. Mobile Nobles, we will need 

help watching over the train while it is at the 

Circus. Please let me know when you can 

help. We will be taking the train out (weather 

permitting) February 10th and 11th and the 

17th and 18th to promote the Circus. We will 

be going to the Hy-Vee Stores again this year. 

Birthdays for February are PP Dale 

Harding and Lady Becky Hodges. 

The Annual 357 Dinner is March 10th. If 

you don’t have your ticket yet, contact any 

Mobile Noble member and we will see what 

we can do. We don’t want you to miss out on 

this fun-filled night.

The main news for the Racers in January 

was the holiday dinner. This is written prior 

to the dinner, so details will be reported next 

month. 

Hamburger nights are off to a good start. 

The Ladies’ dessert offerings needed two 

tables to hold a plentiful variety of tasty 

treats. From the Racers standpoint, we favor 

patrons favoring desserts that deserve an 

ice cream topping. In a take-off from a TV 

commercial, instead of us saying, “Eat more 

Chikun,” we say top off your desserts with a 

generous helping of ice cream. 

Tangier’s Circus is in February and the 

Racers look forward to helping this event 

continue being successful. 

Tangier Band

The ‘newly retired’ Band 

Captain asked me to write 

a little about myself in my 

first Tangier Band column, and to include 

religion and drinking. So to be politically 

correct, I will state that “I drink religiously.” 

This year, the band will seek out more 

opportunities to play at seniors, handicapped, 

and rehabilitation centers, especially those 

where our Brother Shriners, or Loved- 

Ones live. We may be able to provide small 

ensembles according to availability. 

Last month, we played for the Divan 

Installation, as well as for the Stated 

Meeting, where we were again recognized 

as the best Shrine Band in Omaha. 

CIRCUS, CIRCUS, CIRCUS - Please 

continue to sell/distribute all the Circus 

tickets you can. The Band has donated a 

bicycle for the Shrine Circus. In order to 

promote safety, we may mount a warning 

device on the bicycle. Does anyone have a 

bracket for a French Horn, or a gong? The 

Famous Tangier Shrine Band will play 

Friday and Saturday (Feb 24/25) between 

Circus performances on those days. 

We welcome percussion, woodwind, or 

brass players to join our unit. If you were 

scorned by the jocks while playing in your 

school band, be certain you will share in the 

prestige of playing in the Famous Tangier 

Shrine Band. For Tangier Band membership 

please contact any band member, or Lauren 

Faist 402.392.7827 for more information. 

In closing, a word to the wise band 

members during the upcoming potentially

an elegant gold pin that showcases 

your pride in your Shriners heritage. 

The Shriners Legacy pin will become 

available in two phases. 

Membership starts here. 

Phase 1 – New Members 

Shriners International will provide new members of the 

fraternity with complimentary Legacy Program pins if 

they meet the following criteria: 

• The member must have joined after October 17, 2011. 

• He must also be a part of a Shriners legacy, meaning that 

one or more of his relatives (either living or deceased) 

is/was a Shriner. 

New members will also need to fill out a Legacy 

Program application at www.shrinersvillage.com. Upon 

review and acceptance of the application he will receive 

a complimentary pin for himself, and a pin for up to two 

additional Shriners Legacy family members who have 

signed his petition. 

Phase 2 – Existing Legacies 

Beginning January 1, 2012 the Legacy Program Pin will 

become available to current Shriners who are part of a legacy 

for a $5 contribution † . While all Shriner family members 

may purchase a pin, each member must fill out a separate 

application at www.shrinersvillage.com. The application for 

current members will be available online January 1, 2012.
