Cheerleading is the fastest growing sport for kids in Australia. It is a performance based sport that
combines elements of gymnastics, dance and acrobatics. A cheer routine incorporates dance,
jumps, tumbling, stunts, pyramids and basket tosses that are performed together in a highly
spectacular and energetic routine. Cheerleading is the ultimate team sport, as it relies on every
member of the team to be successful, resulting in developed confidence, coordination, trust and
team work. Cheerleading encourages team spirit and team camaraderie like no other sport, and
promotes fun, fitness and friendships at a recreational level all the way through to an elite
competitive level.
Cheer 4 all
Cheer 4 all is our recreational cheerleading program. This is designed for our tiny through to
teenage athletes that are either new to the sport or just want to experience some cheer fun! The
emphasis is on fitness, technique and learning fundamental cheer skills in a relaxed fun-filled
environment. This class provides the perfect pathway for a new cheerleader to learn the
appropriate groundwork and fundamental skills required to be in a competitive team in the future.
Cheer 4 all athletes are required to purchase the F2C training uniform and perform at the End of
Year Display.
Cheer 4 tots
This is a very special program for our toddlers aged 2-4 years who just can’t wait to start
cheerleading! It is a lovely fun-filled morning of songs, games, dance and movement all wrapped
around cheer skills that are fit for tots! Our Cheer 4 tots teams perform a short routine at the End
of Year Display. This can be a casual or a term fee based class, and parents are encouraged to
participate.
Fit 4 mums
This is a recreational adults cheerleading class for mums who want to get fit whilst learning basic
cheerleading! The class incorporates cheer skills of motions, dance, tumbles and stunts in a fun
filled, non-threatening team environment. Fit 4 mums will tone you up and provide you with a great
overall body workout – and most of all, give you the chance to be the cheerleader you always
dreamed to be!
Cheer-ability
Cheer-ability is our special needs program designed for athletes with physical or cognitive
disabilities. The program incorporates both cheerleading and dance elements, with athletes
learning skills of motions, movement to music, jumps and basic tumbling and stunts. Cheer-ability
allows athletes to experience the freedom of being a part of a non-threatening sport that
encourages team spirit, friendship and confidence. We offer our cheer-ability athletes to be apart
of a semi competitive team and work towards performing in the Special Needs division at
competitions throughout the season (see semi competitive). All Cheer-ability athletes are required
to purchase the F2C training uniform, the competition uniform and metallic poms.
www.fit2cheer.com.au info@fit2cheer.com.au 9293 3066

Cheer Buddies:
In order to make our Cheer-ability program even more successful, we would like to offer Fit 2 Cheer
athletes the opportunity to be a cheer buddy for our special needs teams! Cheer buddies join the
team for free and provide assistance with cheer skills throughout the class. This is a great way to
become more involved with Fit 2 Cheer, and experience the rewards of passing along the cheer
spirit! Please indicate on your enrolment form if this is for you.
Competitive cheerleading
We offer two types of competitive cheerleading at Fit 2 Cheer:
Semi competitive cheerleading:
Semi competitive teams involve athletes being committed to training once a week and competing
in THREE competitions over the season, as well as performing at the End of Year Display. These
athletes are entitled to ONE FREE specialty class a week, which is highly recommended to attend,
especially if intending to be full competitive the following year. Athletes MUST attend the
choreography and skills camps at the start of the season. New athletes will be allowed to enter
these teams over the course of the season. These athletes are required to purchase the F2C training
uniform, jacket, competition uniform and cheer shoes.
Full competitive cheerleading:
Full competitive teams involve athletes being committed to training twice a week and competing in
SIX competitions over the season, as well as performing at the End of Year Display. Full Competitive
athletes are entitled to TWO FREE specialty classes a week, one of which is must be Fit 2 tumble. It
is compulsory for flyers to attend the Fit 2 fly class. Full competitive cheerleading is for those who
are completely committed to training and working towards achieving great success as a team
representing Fit 2 Cheer in the up-coming competitive season. All athletes are placed into teams
according to their age and level of ability and will need to be working to achieve the minimum
requirement in order to make the team. Athletes MUST attend the choreography and skills camps
at the start of the season. No new athletes will be able to enter these teams over the course of the
season (unless special circumstances). Full competitive athletes are required to purchase the F2C
training uniform, competition uniform, cheer shoes, cheer bag and tracksuit.
Group & Partner stunt
Group Stunt:
Group stunts work together to produce a short one minute routine with continuous and creative
stunt sequences. A group stunt consists of four or five members and is for semi competitive
through to elite athletes. This is a FREE class, but is only for athletes that have been chosen to
compete in a group stunt by their coaches.
Partner Stunt:
Partner stunt is co-ed only and consists of a male and female pair working toward mastering a one
minute partner stunt routine. Pairs can train recreationally or towards the competitions
throughout the year. This is a FREE class for any competitive male or female cheerleaders at Fit 2
Cheer who come to the class as a pair.
www.fit2cheer.com.au info@fit2cheer.com.au 9293 3066

Fit 2 Cheer offers two types of dance:
A pom team works towards mastering a routine of dance elements such as motions, kicks, jumps,
ripples, turns and acrobatic elements, moulded together with a variety of styles to create a visually
exciting routine using the effect of hand held poms. Team members are required to purchase
metallic poms and the F2C training and competition uniform.
Hip-hop
A hip hop team works towards mastering a routine that includes the latest style of street funk and
hip hop that is incorporated into a fun, energetic routine with various acrobatic elements. Team
members are required to purchase a costume decided by the coach closer to competition date.
Types of Competitive Dance
competitions over the season, as well as performing at the End of Year Display. New athletes will
be allowed to enter these teams over the course of the season. These athletes are required to
purchase the F2C training uniform, jacket, competition uniform and cheer shoes.
Fit 2 tumble
At Fit 2 Cheer we offer many tumbling classes to assist our athletes in achieving their personal
tumble goals and to maintain or work towards a certain cheer level. Fit 2 tumble is a FREE
compulsory class for full competitive cheerleaders and is one of the FREE classes highly
recommended for our semi competitive athletes to attend.
Private Tumble Sessions:
Fit 2 Cheer will be giving all cheer athletes the opportunity to have private tumble sessions with our
experienced tumble coaches to help them achieve those tumble goals with personal attention!
These sessions have limited spaces and will be available on a sign up basis at the beginning of each
term. These private sessions can be for a single (1 athlete), a double (2 athletes) or a triple (3
athletes).
Fit 2 jump
Fit 2 jump is designed for those athletes who want to improve their overall core body strength. A
combination of body conditioning and training on jump technique will help athletes achieve fitness
and strength whilst improving their jumps. This class is highly recommended for all cheerleading
and dance athletes, and is also very beneficial for new athletes to focus on jumps skills.
Fit 2 fly
Fit 2 fly is designed for those athletes who want to improve overall flexibility and strength. It is not
limited to, but is a specialty class for flyers in all levels (or those wanting to be flyers) to improve
and nail those key shapes! It also provides great overall conditioning for cheer and dance athletes,
focusing on stretching muscles to avoid injury and maintain good flexibility. This is a compulsory
class for all flyers in full competitive and is highly recommended for flyers in semi competitive.
USASF Cheer and Dance Guidelines
Rules
Fit 2 Cheer follows the United States All Star Federation (USASF) rules for competitive cheer and
dance. www.usasf.net
Divisions:
Fit 2 Cheer follows the USASF age grid for competitive cheer and dance. Please note all athletes
must be of age by August 31 st 2012:
Tiny: 5yrs and younger
Mini: 8yrs and younger
Youth: 11yrs and younger
Junior: 14yrs and younger
Senior: 18 yrs and younger
Open: 14yrs and older
Levels (Cheer only):
Fit 2 Cheer offers Level 1 – 5 cheerleading classes. Levels are distinguished through difficulty in
stunting and tumbling skills. In 2012, Fit 2 Cheer aims to ensure that every team representing the
gym is true to the level they are competing in, hence ensuring that all athletes are placed in the
right team for their ability level to allow for an appropriate pace of skill development and to give
athletes the opportunity to experience success and achievement as a team. We encourage
everyone to support and understand that we want to nurture our athletes and ensure they achieve
individual progression from within a level that is right for them. New athletes are recommended to
begin with Cheer 4 All or semi competitive cheerleading.
www.fit2cheer.com.au info@fit2cheer.com.au 9293 3066

Crossovers:
Crossovers give athletes the opportunity to compete in more than one team as long as they fit the
appropriate age category and meet the minimum requirement of that team. It is highly
recommended for full competitive athletes (particularly flyers) to compete in a semi competitive
team for the extra training as long as they can commit to both teams. It also recommended for level
2 athletes to also compete in a level 1 team for this reason. An athlete crossing over will only pay
50% of the total price of the lower paying team.
Choreography and Skills Camps:
All competitive cheerleading teams must attend the summer skills camps in mid-January and the
choreography and skills camps in mid-February. These camps are essential for each athlete in each
team to attend as all stunt groups/tumblers will be chosen at this time and the entire routine
choreography will be taught over the course of the camps. The FULL competitive teams will have
the opportunity to have their choreography and music done professionally from a team of USA
instructors brought over to Australia to work with our F2C teams.
Try-outs
Try-outs are required for all competitive athletes enrolling at Fit 2 Cheer in 2012. All athletes will
be given the opportunity to select their team preference for 2012 when they submit their
enrolment. This indicates to us, which team competitive athletes are aiming to be a part of.
Athletes must then attend the try-out session for the particular team they want to enrol into
(please see team schedule on page 13 for tryout times). Athletes must arrive 15 minutes prior to
their try-out session and MUST have enrolled. Once try-outs are complete, athletes will be placed in
a team according to their age and level of ability. All teams are subject to change and are
dependent on numbers enrolled.
Team Agreement
All athletes/parents must sign a Team agreement once selected into a competitive team that
stipulates an understanding and acceptance of rules/guidelines/compulsory training/choreography
and skills camps and competition dates in 2012.
