PROVIDENCE<br />
Dill Trambukis, Loew's State manager, acted<br />
as master of ceremonies at the annual<br />
Halloween party sponsored by the Junior<br />
Chamber of Commerce at the Cranston street<br />
armory. More than 5,000 children attended<br />
the affair and competed for prizes for the<br />
best costumes, stunts and entertainers. Refreshments<br />
were distributed and the youngsters<br />
voted it "the best time they ever had."<br />
The annual event is designed to keep children<br />
off the streets on Halloween, and Trambukis<br />
and his committee were commended for the<br />
excellent job they did.<br />
Recent visitors to this area included Joseph<br />
Mansfield, UA exploiteer, working on "The<br />
Sharkfighters"; Abe Bernstein, UA, setting<br />
the stage for "Attack!" and Floyd Fitzsimmons,<br />
MGM, who was assisting in arranging<br />
publicity tieups for "Julie" and "The Opposite<br />
Sex," soon to be seen in this city.<br />
Jim McCusker, chief engineer at Loew's,<br />
returned from a vacation to Florida . . . Guy<br />
Lombardo is slated for a personal appearance<br />
at Rhodes-on-the-Pawtuxet . . . Many nearby<br />
drive-ins are featuring only one complete<br />
show nightly . . . Tlie Fairlawn, Pawtucket<br />
neighborhood house, recently announced a<br />
change of policy. The new schedule provides<br />
for one complete performance nightly, Monday<br />
through Thursday, starting at 7 o'clock;<br />
Friday, from 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, Sunday<br />
and holidays, continuous from 1:45 p.m.<br />
Walt Disney's "Fantasia" continues at the<br />
Avon Cinema with generous audiences at all<br />
performances . . . The Community, in nearby<br />
Centredale, recently presented a really "mammoth"<br />
Saturday afternoon Kiddy Karnival,<br />
offering 17 color cartoons, "Three Stooges"<br />
comedy and a serial . . . willard Mathews,<br />
former Majestic manager and now a Cumerford<br />
Theatres executive with headquarters in<br />
Scranton, Pa., was a recent weekend visitor.<br />

Tiverton, R. I„ Councilmen<br />
Okay 600-Car Drive-In<br />
TIVERTON, R. I.—Construction of an outdoor<br />
theatre here on Shove street, adjacent<br />
to the Ponta Delgada stadium, is due to start<br />
soon, following the granting of a permit by<br />
the town council.<br />
Councilman Everett Lane introduced the<br />
motion to grant the permit after the council<br />
studied blueprints submitted by Joseph Mathias<br />
jr. Trustees of the Ponta Delgada Patriots<br />
Club originally presented the petition<br />
but the council delayed definite action until<br />
submission of blueprints.<br />
Entrance to the proposed theatre will be<br />
on Shove street near Walnut street, with the<br />
exit on Conanicus street, off Shove street.<br />
The theatre will accommodate 600 cars.<br />
Provisions include that the management<br />
provide adequate police protection to direct<br />
traffic at the theatre. A license fee of $75<br />
was included in the motion to approve the<br />
theatre.<br />
No objections have been raised by abutting<br />
property owners.<br />
Married 52 Years<br />
HARTFORD—Sal Adorno sr., president and<br />
chief executive officer of McfeD Theatres, and<br />
Mrs. Adorno are marking their 52nd wedding<br />
anniversary.<br />
Their children include Joseph, former state<br />
treasurer; Sal jr., general manager of the<br />
Middletown Drive-In, and Mike, a;ssistant<br />
general manager of M&D interests. Adorno<br />
has been in Connecticut exhibition for more<br />
than half a century.<br />

OTTAWA—A closed cable television circuit<br />
has been started in the Ottawa valley town<br />
of Pembroke by an electrical firm. It is called<br />
the Community TV System. Already many<br />
