Father Trey Nelson ’80 Named CHS Distinguished Graduate<br />

Father Trey Nelson ’80<br />

was honored as <strong>Catholic</strong> <strong>High</strong>’s<br />

2007 Distinguished Graduate at<br />

a school-wide liturgy celebrating<br />

<strong>Catholic</strong> <strong>School</strong>s Week on<br />

Friday, January 26.<br />

Father Trey<br />

graduated from<br />

<strong>Catholic</strong> <strong>High</strong><br />

in 1980. He<br />

obtained a<br />

degree in<br />

communications<br />

from the<br />

University of St. Thomas<br />

in Houston, Texas, while in<br />

residence at St. Mary’s Seminary.<br />

Nelson graduated from Notre<br />

Dame Seminary Graduate <strong>School</strong><br />

of Theology in New Orleans with<br />

a Master of Divinity. He was<br />

ordained in 1988 and currently<br />

serves as the pastor of St. Anne<br />

and Assumption Parishes<br />

and Immaculate Conception<br />

Chapel in Napoleonville and<br />

Plattenville.<br />

because his service in the Church,<br />

his outstanding ministry to so<br />

many people, and his powerful<br />

example of faith in God and<br />

God’s will for us make him the<br />

kind of person we want to hold<br />

up to our students as an example<br />

to follow,” commented Brother<br />

Barry Landry, SC, principal of<br />

<strong>Catholic</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>.<br />

his life, Father Trey has<br />

served as a witness to the<br />

profess. He has been an example<br />

of how <strong>Catholic</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong><br />

educates people to take leadership<br />

roles in the community and<br />

I have always been<br />

inspired and motivated by their<br />
