Ric Kearny ’77 was appointed Baton

Rouge area president of Capital One Bank.

Kearny will be responsible “for leading the

bank’s community focus and philanthropic

commitment” in greater Baton Rouge. Kearny

will also continue to serve as Louisiana Commercial

Banking Manager for the southwest region.

Vincent Lagattuta ’77 was

awarded the Greek Excellence

Award from LSU at the annual

Greek Gala. Each spring the Gala

serves to recognize outstanding

alumni in the LSU community

who have contributed to the

success of their chapter and | Vincent Lagattuta ’77

the betterment of the Greek

Community. Lagattuta has served as Sigma Nu

Chapter Advisor since 2007.

Archie Kranske ’82

received Baton Rouge

Paralegal Association’s

2012 Paralegal of the Year

award at a luncheon held at Juban’s

Restaurant.

Jim Burke ’86

| Archie Kranske ’82 completed his first

Ironman triathlon

in Louisville on August 28, 2011

earning a spot in the Ironman

World Championships in Kona,

Hawaii, which took place in

October 2011. Burke finished

third in the Executive Challenge

division, finishing in 10:35:47.

Jesse Daigle ’89 is an Investment Advisor with LPL

Financial, which has merged with Baton Rougebased

McMakin Financial. It will operate under

the name Altus Wealth Management, allowing

the company to expand services offered to their

existing and future clients. Denver-based Geneos

Wealth Management Inc. will serve as broker/dealer

for the company, which will operate offices in

Gonzales and Crowley in addition to Baton Rouge.

Chris Loar ’94, director of Business

Information Services for Franciscan Missionaries

of Our Lady Health Systems, was re-elected last

fall to a second term on the Ascension Parish

Council, representing the Prairieville area. This is

Loar’s first year as chairman of that council.

Justin Mannino ’06, third-year student at the Paul

M. Hebert Law Center, has been elected the new

student member of the LSU Board of Supervisors.

Prior to being elected to this position, Mannino

was elected Student Bar Association president

for the LSU Law School. Mannino was awarded

a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from LSU and

is scheduled to receive his law degree with an

emphasis in tax law.

Matt Broha ’07, defensive

end at Louisiana Tech, has

signed as a free agent with

the world champion New

York Giants. Broha earned a

degree from Louisiana Tech

University.

CHS Hall of Fame Nominations due

by August 15

Catholic High School is seeking nominations for

membership in its Hall of Fame. To be eligible, a person

must have graduated from Catholic High School or

been associated with the school at least five years prior to

nomination.

The Hall of Fame honors any person, living or deceased,

whose life and accomplishments can be an inspiration to the

students of Catholic High.

To be selected, a person must exemplify the principles of

the Gospel, provide service to the community and have

significant individual accomplishments.

Seventy-five alumni and friends of CHS are members of the

Hall of Fame. Letters of nomination and copies of résumés

or other biographical materials are due by August 15, to the

Hall of Fame Selection Committee, Catholic High School,

PLAQUE. CPT Eric Hart ‘02 (center) presented CHS President Gene

Tullier (left) and CHS Principal Lisa Harvey (right) with a wooden

plaque, hand carved by an Afghan man, as a thank you for the care

packages sent to him from Catholic High while serving in Afghanistan.

FLAG. In appreciation for care packages, prayers and support from CHS,

1LT Sean Gahagan ’05 donated a flag to Catholic High School that was

flown over the Fallen Soldiers’ Memorial at Forward Operating Base

Fenty, Jalalabad, Afghanistan on January 11, 2012. On March 20, 2012

students, faculty, staff and family members of Gahagan gathered to

raise the flag over Catholic High School. Students raised the flag as CHS

Alumni Director Glen Randow led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

The ceremony ended with a prayer for our troops around the CHS flag

pole.
