The 24th Annual Mother-<br />
Son Breakfast was held on<br />
Sunday, January 31, 2010, at the<br />
Crowne Plaza Hotel.<br />
Nearly 900 <strong>Catholic</strong> <strong>High</strong><br />
mothers and sons enjoyed guest<br />
speaker Coach Pete Boudreaux<br />
’59. Coach Boudreaux spoke<br />
about his own mother, adding<br />
that “moms are the most special<br />
people in the world.”<br />
“Coach Boudreaux had<br />
us laughing and crying by<br />
taking us through the life of<br />
his own mother with stories<br />
from his childhood. Her death<br />

is a reminder to all of us of<br />
the importance of always<br />
saying ’I Love You’ to our own<br />
mothers,” commented Michelle<br />
McMahon, event chairperson.<br />
Breakfast was served as<br />
the crowd was entertained.<br />
The CHS Chorus performed<br />
in addition to Senior Peyton<br />
McMahon.<br />
Michelle McMahon chaired<br />
the event with the assistance<br />
of her co-chairs, Stephanie<br />
Hodges and Beth Bourdier, and<br />
Mothers’ Club President Gwen<br />
Cotton.<br />

Donations to Archives Reflect History of <strong>School</strong><br />

Special pieces have been<br />
donated to the Archives of<br />
<strong>Catholic</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>. These<br />
special pieces included a<br />
miniature print of the four<br />
<strong>Catholic</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> buildings,<br />
a Men’s Club barbecue<br />
doubloon, an honor roll<br />
certificate and an elementary<br />
school graduation program,<br />
history of a prom program<br />
cover, a sash and an SVA solid<br />
gold medal, a CHS solid gold<br />
medal and a belt buckle.<br />
Brother Eldon Crifasi,<br />
SC ’39 donated the miniature<br />
print of the four <strong>Catholic</strong> <strong>High</strong><br />
buildings dated 1928. Mr.<br />
Wallace Thompson donated the<br />
Men’s Club barbecue doubloon<br />
dated 1980.<br />
The honor roll certificate<br />
was donated by Monsignor<br />
Gerald Lefebvre ’48. It was<br />
for the week ending November<br />
14, 1941. He also donated an<br />
Elementary <strong>School</strong> Graduation<br />
program of the Saint Joseph’s<br />
Parochial <strong>School</strong> and <strong>Catholic</strong><br />
<strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> from Monday,<br />
May 29, 1944.<br />
Charles Domma ’51<br />
donated the wooden sketch<br />
of the Mexican señor that was<br />
pictured on the cover of the<br />
Junior-Senior prom invitation,<br />
class of 1948. Mr.<br />
Domma entered a<br />
school contest for the<br />
drawing that would<br />
be used for the cover<br />
of the invitation. Mr.<br />
Domma also donated<br />
various newspaper<br />
pictures and articles, a<br />
football program dated<br />
September 17, 1949,<br />
when <strong>Catholic</strong> <strong>High</strong><br />
played Holy Cross, his<br />
graduation invitation<br />
and various certificates.<br />
He also gave the Archives<br />
newspaper prints of pictures of<br />
Brothers who taught him.<br />
Dominic Bonfanti ’48<br />
donated his gold and black sash,<br />
his letter C with megaphone<br />
and issues of The Golden Bear<br />
from 1946 and 1947. The sash<br />
and the letter are from Mr.<br />
Bonfanti’s days as a cheerleader<br />
for CHS.<br />
Ben Brown, a 1999<br />
graduate, asked his mother-inlaw,<br />
Mrs. Roslyn Strain Greer,<br />
shortly before his death,<br />
to donate a solid gold SVA<br />
medal marked Excellence<br />
and dated 1925 to <strong>Catholic</strong><br />
<strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>. The medal<br />
belonged to her father,<br />
Mr. Hoyt Strain Sr. ’30,<br />
the grandfather of Ben’s<br />
wife Ragan. In memory<br />
of their father, Mrs. Greer<br />
and her brother, Hoyt<br />
Strain Jr., did just that.<br />
This treasured piece,<br />
which will be placed<br />
in a shadow box and<br />
displayed in the Archives of<br />
the school, was presented to<br />
<strong>Catholic</strong> <strong>High</strong> by Mrs. Greer<br />
and Ben’s mother Trisha<br />
Brown, in memory of Ben’s<br />
recent birthday.<br />
The family of Arthur<br />
Orillion Jr. ’35 donated a CHS<br />
solid gold medal with the<br />
words Merit and 1929 on the<br />
reverse side. The family, Mrs.<br />
Marie L. Orillion and her three<br />
sons, Arthur ’62, Mike ’73 and<br />
Terry ’77, visited the school and<br />
brought the medal as well as a<br />
belt buckle embossed with the<br />
number 35. They also gave<br />
the school an ivory colored<br />
satin bow with a small cross,<br />
heart and anchor attached that<br />
belonged to Mr. Orillion. Plans<br />
are to place the gold medal in<br />
a shadow box also and display<br />
it in the Archives Office of the<br />
school. The Orillion family also<br />
donated Mr. Orillion’s class ring<br />
to be added to the collection of<br />
rings that will one day be a part<br />
of the CHS ring display.<br />
