Centreville Wharf
General Rules and Regulations
1. These rules and regulations cover the Town owned waterfront properties including the South
Pocket Park (103 Front Street), North Pocket Park (115 Front Street), and the Centreville
Wharf Property (Watson Road).
2. No vessel, other than the one owned and registered by the slip renter, may dock in a Town
slip. Slips are offered annually for lease, and no transient dockage is permitted in the leased
slips, with the exception of emergencies.
3. All motor vehicles shall park in designated parking areas only and only annual slip renters
shall be permitted to park overnight. Renter decals must be displayed for overnight parking,
or the vehicle owner will be ticketed. There shall be no parking of trailers at the Wharf at
any time.
4. Transient public boat docking at the Centreville Wharf and Wharf Pocket Parks is
encouraged along the bulkhead. Transient public boat docking at the Centreville Wharf is
free from dawn until 9:00 p.m. Transient boats parked after 9:00 p.m. must pay an overnight
fee as determined by resolution of the Town Council.
5. The Centreville Wharf and Wharf Pocket Parks are trash free facilities. No littering is
permitted. All rubbish, trash, and other refuse shall be removed from these facilities and the
dock area.
6. Any personal belongings, equipment, etc. left on or around the Wharf and/or parking area for
a period longer than 48 hours shall be disposed of by the Town.
7. Transient boats docked at the Town owned waterfront properties for more than seventy-two
(72) hours without written permission, may be removed at the vessel owner’s expense as
outlined under the provisions of Natural Resources Article 8-721.1.
8. Parking and the use of the Centreville Wharf and Wharf Pocket Parks, including the transient
slips: The owner and/or user of a boat, and all members accompanying that individual, agrees
to indemnify and hold harmless the Town in all claims, lawsuits, and other legal proceedings
relating to use of or condition of the Town’s facilities.
9. Violations of these Regulations are municipal infractions and the following fines shall be in
addition to the costs of removal and storage of the violator’s vessel. Fines shall be as
follows: First Offense: $50.00; Second Offense: $75.00; Third Offense: $100.00. Each
subsequent offense will entail a fine of not more than $100.00 each. Where the offense is of
a continuing nature, each day’s violation shall be deemed a separate offense.
10. The registered owner of any boat in violation of this ordinance shall be considered the
violator.
11. Citations for these violations shall be issued, and regulations enforced, by any sworn police
officer, the Town Manager, or their designees.

Boat Slip Rules and Regulations:
1. No vessel shall dock in the finger piers at the Centreville Wharf without the completion of a
rental agreement, payment of all required fees, and compliance with the rules and
regulations.
2. The slip lease will run from April 1 st through March 31 st of the following year. Submittal of
an application must be received by Centreville Town Hall beginning January 1 st with a cut of
off for the lottery of January 31 st . Applications can be obtained at the Centreville Town Hall
or the website.
3. Boat slip rentals are to be determined annually by lottery by March 1 st of each year. If March
1 st falls on a weekend, the following Monday, that is not a holiday, will serve as the
determination date. Preference to slip rentals is first given to: Town of Centreville Residents,
then Town of Centreville Property Owners (non-residents), then to Queen Anne’s County
residents, then to State of Maryland Residents, then others. Residency shall be determined
by any of the following: 1) voter registration; 2) valid driver’s license; 3) State of Maryland
ID.
4. Payment in full must be received by March 15 th of each year, or within 15 days of
notification of Lottery selection. Failure to pay slip rent in full by this date of the applicable
year will result in termination of slip rental rights and slip will be offered for lease pursuant
to the Rules & Regulations for the Centreville Wharf.
5. A slip holder must keep a vessel a) registered in the slip holders’ name and b) in the slip
during the boating season of April through October. Violation of this regulation would
prohibit rental eligibility for the following year.
6. A slip may be passed from spouse to spouse during the annual lease period, provided the new
renter is otherwise and owns a vessel suitable for the slip.
7. During the period of November through March, a vacant slip may be used by another vessel
with the slip holder’s knowledge and permission and after written notification to and
approval by the Town of Centreville.
8. A slip holder must relinquish the slip if they are no longer eligible when they no longer own
a suitable boat, if their boat is not insured, or if their fees have not been paid in full.
9. A slip holder shall maintain their vessel in a reasonable safe, environmentally responsible
and orderly manner, and must have valid liability insurance.
10. To be eligible for the annual lottery, interested parties must send a letter to Centreville Town
Hall, 101 Lawyer’s Row, Centreville, MD, indicating their interest in obtaining a spot in the
annual lottery and providing satisfactory evidence of residency and boat registration. This
letter must include the name and address of the individual and indicate if a Town of
Centreville resident. If interested party is not a Town Resident, but a Town of Centreville
Property owner, address and Town Property address must be included in letter. If neither a
Town Resident nor Non-resident property owner, residence address in Maryland must be

included. A working telephone number must also be included. It is the responsibility of the
interested party to be sure information is current and letter is received by the Town office.
Once a letter has been sent to and received by the town, interested party will remain on the
annual lottery list for that year until they receive a spot and turn it down, they are no longer
eligible, or violate any of the Rules & Regulations or Lease agreement. If selected for a
lease, interested party must provide satisfactory evidence of residency, insurance, and boat
registration prior to lease signing.
11. Slip numbers shall be assigned by the Town of Centreville. No slip movement or trading is
permitted. Violation of this regulation will result in forfeiture of slip.
12. The slip rent shall be determined by the Centreville Town Council.
