<strong>Farmers</strong>, <strong>Ranchers</strong>, <strong>the</strong> <strong>L<strong>and</strong></strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Falls</strong><br />
During <strong>the</strong> 1950s <strong>and</strong> early 1960s Harriet’s daughter, Pearl East, <strong>and</strong> Pearl’s<br />
husb<strong>and</strong> Sherill East, frequently visited <strong>the</strong> Circle Bar. For about a year beginning<br />
in 1961, Pearl <strong>and</strong> Sherill lived on <strong>the</strong> ranch full-time, living in <strong>the</strong> old Wenmohs<br />
house, while Sherill worked as <strong>the</strong> ranch’s foreman. Pearl <strong>and</strong> Sherill’s daughter<br />
<strong>and</strong> her husb<strong>and</strong>, Jane <strong>and</strong> Bob Roberts, also visited <strong>the</strong> ranch frequently after<br />
1957 with <strong>the</strong>ir children Diana, Doug, C<strong>and</strong>y <strong>and</strong> Janet. After 1959, when Jane<br />
<strong>and</strong> Bob moved <strong>the</strong>ir family to Austin, <strong>the</strong>ir family visited at <strong>the</strong> ranch even<br />
more often, “normally at Thanksgiving, Christmas <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> summertime.” Much<br />
of what we know now about <strong>the</strong> Wheatley’s ranch operations, <strong>and</strong> most of <strong>the</strong><br />
photographs we have of <strong>the</strong> place at that time, come from Sherill <strong>and</strong> Pearl East<br />
<strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> Roberts family. 92<br />
