MOPAR PERFORMANCE WARRANTY
NOTICE
Federal and many state laws prohibit the removal, modification or
rendering inoperative of any part or element of design affecting
emissions or safety on motor vehicles used for transporting persons or
property on a public street or highway. Violation may result in a fine of
up to $27,500 per vehicle. Mechanical and/or electronic performance
parts listed in this catalog cannot be used on vehicles used on public
streets or highways. These parts may be used only on vehicles used
solely in sanctioned off-highway events. No other applications are
intended or implied. Those parts that have been granted an exemption
by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) or meet the EPA
requirements of memorandum 1A are legal for highway use in
California, New York and Massachusetts and are noted as such.
NO PARTS WARRANTY
Mopar Performance parts are sold “as is” unless otherwise
noted. This means that parts sold by Mopar Performance carry
no warranty whatsoever. Implied warranties, such as warranties
of merchantability, are excluded. (An implied warranty of
merchantability means that the part is reasonably fit for the
general purpose for which it was sold). The entire risk as to
quality and performance of such parts is with the buyer. Should
such parts prove defective following their purchase, the buyer
and not the manufacturer, distributor or retailer, assumes the
entire cost of all necessary servicing or repair.
Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep® vehicle and parts warranties are voided if
the vehicle or parts are used for competition. The addition of
performance parts does not by itself void a vehicle’s warranty. However,
added performance parts (parts not originally supplied on the vehicle
from the factory) are not covered by the vehicle’s warranty, and any
failure that they may cause is also not covered by the vehicle’s warranty.
MOPAR PERFORMANCE CRATE ENGINE 90-DAY
LIMITED WARRANTY
Mopar Performance Crate Engine Assemblies not used in competition
are warranted for “parts only,” AS DELIVERED against defects in
materials or workmanship for 90 days from the date of purchase. The
following parts, if defective, will be replaced on an exchange basis for
90 days: cylinder blocks and all internal parts; cylinder head assemblies;
intake manifold; core plugs, valve covers; oil pan; timing gear; water
pump; gaskets and seals. See your dealer for a copy of the warranty.
EMISSIONS STATEMENT
Federal law requires emissions parts on new vehicles to be warranted
for at least two years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first. Federal
and many state laws also prohibit the removal, modification or
rendering inoperative any part that affects emissions or safety on motor
vehicles used on public streets or highways.
Many Mopar Performance parts are designated for track use or off-road
use only. Installation of certain components may bring the vehicle out of
compliance with safety and/or emissions standards. Mopar
recommends that vehicles with parts designated in this fashion not be
operated on public roads. Mopar Performance customers are
responsible for complying with applicable state and local environmental
regulations.
Additionally, certain performance parts may affect the emissions
characteristics of the vehicle. If you install them on the vehicle, and your
vehicle consequently fails a required state or local I/M (inspection and
maintenance) emissions test, including any test required to maintain or
renew your vehicle’s registration, or if your vehicle is subject to an
emissions recall, DaimlerChrysler may not be required to repair your
vehicle under the emissions performance warranty, and you may be
required to remove those parts at your own expense in order to obtain
repairs necessary to pass the I/M test or to perform the recall.
NOTE — CALIFORNIA ONLY
The emissions laws and regulations of the state of California apply to
all non-racing vehicles operated in California. Consequently, those parts
marked in this catalog with an asterisk and appropriately marked on
their packaging may legally be used in California only on a racing vehicle
that will never be operated on public roads.
PARTS ORDERING AND INQUIRIES
The parts in this catalog may be ordered from authorized Chrysler, Jeep
and Dodge dealerships or the speed shops carrying the Mopar
Performance line of products. When a part ordered has been
superseded, the replacing part will be shipped automatically. The price
of the replacing part may differ from the ordered part.
“A” ENGINE ALUMINUM
RACE BLOCKS
Designed and built for the serious Sprint Car and Dirt late model, this
Mopar Performance “A” aluminum race block showcases the latest
in technology. Knowing the racer’s concern for weight and overall
strength, this block was engineered using finite element analysis
to optimize the design for weight savings of over 25 lbs. from the
previous version. The following features set the Mopar block ahead
of the competition:
• 6-bolt head design for superior gasket sealing and reliability at
higher compression ratios (a 4-bolt head can be installed)
• Full skirted “H” block design for the required strength and rigidity
• Cross-bolted main caps for added strength and improved rigidity
• Ductile iron dry cylinder liners
• High-strength A1 studs, bolts, and attaching hardware
• “A” engine high cam location for longer strokes and reduced windage
• 50 mm roller bearing cam design for reduced friction
(Requires bearing set P4876707)
• 48° tappet angle for close to ideal valve train geometry
• Approximate weight — 95 lbs. to 100 lbs.
CLIMB IN, HANG ON
OPEN-WHEEL CIRCLE TRACK — V8
Armed with the edgy new Mopar look, the Team Mopar sprints
and midgets contingent captured attention (and victories)
throughout 2003. Chief among them was J.J. Yeley, who set
the record for most USAC wins in a season, eclipsing the
previous record of 19 held by the legendary other initial-guy,
A.J. Foyt. Yeley captured the USAC National Sprint Car season
championship driving the No. 20 Mopar car owned by 2002
NASCAR Winston Cup Champion Tony Stewart, who held
ownership in several other Mopar USAC entries. Tracy Hines,
Jay Drake and Cory Kruseman also racked up numerous wins
and fast times using Stanton Racing Mopar power. Dave
Steele drove Mopar to victory in three USAC Midget events.
In the World of Outlaws, Danny “The Dude” Lasoski switched
to Paul Kistler-built Mopar power for 2003 and the results
were spectacular. Lasoski posted the Fast Time in qualifying
an astounding 28 times — more than three times as many as
the next in line (Steve Kinser had eight). And backed by that
reliable Mopar power and Tony Stewart Motorsports, he was
locked in a battle for first with Kinser throughout the entire
340 REPLACEMENT ENGINE BLOCK
Limited production of the original 340 block has made it very difficult to
find in good condition. Why take a chance with a 30-plus-year-old block
when you can buy a new one? This new casting includes the original 340
production casting part number with an “M”
added at the end to identify the new
Mopar 340 block. The block
has a few cosmetic
differences from
the original 340
block, but it is
machined to work
with all 340
production components.
Special features include:
• Brand-new castings made
from high nickel cast iron for added strength (not a thin wall casting)
• 4-bolt main bearing caps, 340 journal size
• Thicker webbing and pan rail (like the 340 T/A)
• Thicker deck surface
• Thicker bore wall in major/minor thrust directions
• Rough bore at 3.980" to allow various bore sizes from 4.000" to 4.080"
size (finish bore and honing required)
• Deck height is approximately 9.600"
• Requires the use of oil filter part number 05281090
• Ideal block for restoration or where racing rules require a 340 block
• Not recommended for use with roller tappets
• May require use of late 1970s 318 motor mount (left side)
MASTERS
MIDGET RACING — FOUR-CYLINDER
The Team Mopar open-wheel blitz in 2003 included some
impressive midget racing accolades. Mopar powered more
other sanctions.
Mopar also took the reins as title sponsor of two thrilling
Mopar Twin 25’s events held at Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway
and Indianapolis Raceway Park. Tracy Hines scored a dominating
victory for Team Mopar in one of the Irwindale Twins, while
Dave Steele notched a Mopar victory for the title sponsor at
the Indianapolis Twins. Steele was the victor of a
And who could have missed the No. 12 Dodge Intrepid team and
But Mopar really came through for the fendered crowd in the
small-town bullrings and bumpy roundabouts across the United
Scott Lynch gave Dodge its first Winston West title since
POWER BROKERS
REAR-WHEEL-DRIVE DRAG RACING
How long does it take to reach the finish line? When you’re drag racing with Mopar, it’s just a matter of choosing what division
you wanna run.
Steve Wann won the Division 6 Super Stock championship in 2001 in his Dodge Dakota.
The current national et and speed record-holder in GT/TA (9.67 seconds @ 136.95 mph),
Wann has set three other national records and won four divisional events in the five
years he has campaigned the Hemi-colored truck.
Photo: Bruce Biegler
On the national level, Team Mopar put a ton of experience in the pits in 2003 with the likes of three-time NHRA POWERade
Pro Stock world champion Darrell Alderman; engine builder Roy Johnson; and Roy’s son, hotshoe Allen, who hung around the
top-five all season. Out of the other Team Mopar hauler, Larry Morgan decided to hire his legendary buddy, 10-time Pro Stock
champ Bob Glidden, as his crew chief and team consultant. Morgan hung on to his engine building responsibilities, and Glidden’s
arrival ignited a revitalized Morgan’s charge through the painfully competitive Pro Stock standings.
A highlight of 2003 was, of course, the return of the 24th annual Mopar Mile-High Nationals
at Bandimere Speedway near Denver, Colo. Mopar is proud to claim this, the longest-running
active sponsorship of a national NHRA event, and the version 2003 was no less thrilling.
The special sparkling “Bling bling” paint scheme on the Dodge Stratus Funny Car driven
by Whit Bazemore was a sweet highlight on top of Thunder Mountain.
But if you wanna talk about grassroots and devotion, this is where Mopar really kicks it.
Mopar aims to be in tune with sportsmen racers across North America who “run what
they brung” and always bring Mopar. The IHRA and NHRA divisional ranks feature dozens
of fierce competitors who proudly campaign the Mopar name.
Why conform to bow ties when they cut off the blood circulation to your brain?!
Mopar has built much of its esteemed heritage on RWD drag
racing, and you can put numerous pieces of that history into
your quarter-miler if you’ve got the guts — and the traction.
Talk about a rush!
Three-time NHRA Pro Stock world champion Darrell
Alderman peels off a sweet burnout with his Roy Johnsonprepared
Gary Scelzi has set NHRA Funny Car speed (mph) records on
two occassions this season. His current record is 329.18 mph,
which built upon his first speed record this season (328.06 mph).
Both records were set at Route 66 Raceway near Chicago.
INNOVATION, NOT IMITATION
SPORT COMPACT DRAG RACING
The Mopar name and logo burst on the sport compact drag racing scene in 2003,
thanks in large part to the efforts of two outstanding teams — Darrell Cox
Racing and NuFormz Racing.
Darrell Cox builds the potent Mopar powerplants for his self-named race
team based in North Carolina. Scott Mohler and Mike Crawford pound
the pedals for the team’s two entries. “I can’t tell you how much it
means to have Mopar’s backing,” Cox said. “The technological and
engineering support have been second to none.”
While Darrell Cox Racing tears up the East Coast, Shaun Carlson and
NuFormz Racing are having their way with the competition out West in
their Dodge SRT-4 — with help from Mopar, of course. In 2003 both
Carlson and Mohler set NHRA elapsed time and speed records in
their respective classes. Mohler earned the championship of the
All Motor division of the NHRA Sport Compact series while
racking up six final round appearances in 10 events.
class victories over eight rallies.
VIPER
The production Dodge Viper SRT-10 is a sweet serpent, we know. But the bad-ass Dodge Viper Competition Coupe takes absolutely
zero prisoners. Check out the plethora of new parts for the Viper SRT-10 that come straight off of the Competition Coupe.
And don’t forget the durable Viper GTS-R hardware offered for the first
generation of Dodge Viper coupes.
These are the perfect pieces to help set your Dodge Viper
even further apart from the rest. Have you been bit?
NEW! RACE
ENGINE
CONTROLLER †
The 2003 and 2004 Viper
SRT-10 race engine
controller is specifically
calibrated for use with camshaft (P4510171) and 3" race exhaust
(P4510176). It optimizes fuel/air tables for peak performance without
catalytic converters, removes the skip shift feature (found on the
production model) and is calibrated for premium pump fuel (91 octane
minimum). For race use only — not emission legal.
Total performance increase with exhaust and camshaft:
Horsepower increase = 44 bhp at 4800 rpm
Torque increase = 48 ft. lbs of torque at 4800 rpm
*P4510172 Viper SRT-10 (2003–04) Race Engine Controller
NEW! CAMSHAFT †
This race camshaft is standard on all
Competition Coupes. Uses production springs
and rocker arms to offer a 6–8 horsepower
increase at top end of rpm range. Recommended
for use with race engine controller (P4510172) and
3" race exhaust (P4510176).
Cam lift: 0.320" intake and 0.320" exhaust
Duration: 220.0 at 0.050" intake and 230.5 at 0.050" exhaust
Cam Centerline = 117° after top dead center
*P4510171 Viper SRT-10 (2003–04) Comp Coupe Camshaft
Combining the best performance with the most outrageous graphics, Marko
Radosavljevic (who is also president of the Nevada chapter of the Viper Club of
America) decided to adorn his Viper Competition Coupe with the new Mopar
barbed wire look. Who says you can’t improve on perfection?
NEW! UNDERDRIVE
CRANK PULLEY †
This underdrive pulley was
developed for the Competition
Coupe. It improves water pump
efficiency at high rpms. Constructed
of hard-coated aluminum. Requires a
unique belt.
P4510177
maneuvers and provides consistent oil pressure during race conditions.
It utilizes the same design as used on the Viper Competition Coupe.
Kit includes pickup assembly and replacement oil pan.
NEW! RACE LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL †
The Viper SRT-10 Race Limited Slip Differential is based on the same
design used in both the Competition Coupe and GTS-R. Race-tuned,
viscous speed-sensing limited slip differential provides smooth transition
during torque biasing. It is a complete assembly with Dana 44 3.07 final
drive ratio. Purchase of Differential Oil Cooler (P4510173) is recommended.
P4510170
Viper SRT-10 (2003–04) Race Limited Slip Differential
NEW! PERFORMANCE SIDE EXIT EXHAUST †
This 3" race exhaust system provides low restriction from manifold to
tip. Catalytic converters are eliminated (upstream and downstream), and
it has a side exit from the sill that removes H-pipe crossover. This system
represents more than 30 lbs. savings when compared to the production
exhaust system. The exhaust muffler is tuned to minimize noise where
track restrictions are present, yet it yields a deep sounding exhaust note.
Race engine controller (P4510172) required. Controller calibrated for
camshaft (P4510171) — installation highly recommended.
Power and Torque Increase (Exhaust, Cam, Controller vs. Stock):
Horsepower Increase = 44 BHP at 4800 rpm
Torque Increase = 48 ft.-lbs. at 4800 rpm
*P4510176 Viper SRT-10 (2003–04) Performance Side Exit Exhaust (+10 bhp)
NEW! HEAT SHIELD KITS †
These flexible heat shield boots lower
joint temperature and protect the rubber
boot from thermal cracking. Heat shields
slip over existing rubber boots — no
modifications required. Recommended
for racing use. Includes:
8 ball joint boots (1 vehicle set)
4 tie rod boots (1 vehicle set)
The external cooling features of the differential cooler lowers internal
differential temperatures under race conditions. Its electric circulating pump
and ducted fan provide reliable operation. Temperature switch activated
based on differential fluid temperature. Includes braided stainless steel
lines and inline oil filter. All hardware and wiring included. Requires no
modification or drilling of the differential housing.
NEW! SHORT THROW SHIFTER †
Shift throw reduced by 40%. One-piece shift stick and
gold anodized billet aluminum construction for durability,
with an exclusive Viper Head shift ball (shift ball height
is reduced for competition feel). Customizable biasing
spring kits are also available from Hurst.
SEA
MONSTER
It’s a unique sound, unlike any other that you’ll hear on the water. And when
you experience the throaty rumble of the 505-cubic-inch Dodge Viper crate
engine coming from a 32-foot powerboat, it will make you wonder why
anyone would choose a V8 engine when they could have a V10.
Thanks to Ilmor Marine Engines, LLC. and Mopar Performance, boaters won’t
have to “settle” for V8s anymore. Ilmor has taken a Viper V10 engine, kicked
up the horsepower and torque, and adapted it for marine use. And the results,
as you might expect, are spectacular.
The finely balanced V10 provides amazing smoothness in running over typical
V8 applications. With more than 500 ft.-lb. of torque at 2500 rpm, driving a
boat equipped with the V10 is exceptionally easy. And the low engine weight
allows for greater overall performance.
In developing the V10 beast for the water, Ilmor made the engine a little more
bulletproof in consideration of the pounding it would take on the waves. One
major change included using a camshaft developed by DaimlerChrysler’s
Performance Vehicle Operations (PVO). The new PVO cam picks up more
power without sacrificing torque.
Also, unlike the street version of the engine, the marine application has a
completely open exhaust. This means it comes out as genuine 550
horsepower as tested. The next best normally aspirated engine on the marine
market today is at 525. And if you have to ask whether that extra 25 hp is
important, then you don’t know Mopar Performance customers.
